Very nice Michael. I did a two tiered planters on both sides of stairs for my nephew. I told him to fill up the bottoms of the planters with plastic water bottles or any plastic bottle. You do not need to fill the whole planter with dirt as the roots will undulate around the bottles. Keep up the good work.
Dude, that was cool watching it slowly come together from the ground up! I'm used to seeing things get built in different pieces, this was like watching a life-size Lego set being built.
Thanks Shaun! Yeah, I was huge fan of Lincoln logs when i was a kid, and it totally felt like that while I was building it. Love these outdoor builds, they are super quick because the joinery is so simple. I saw you posted a chess board build. I’ll looking forward to watching it when I get home! ✌️
I love the build...But I also really appreciate the time, effort, and skill you put into the videography of your builds, which ironically is completely lost on the viewer...An outstanding blend of the art of design, build, and video production....👏 Bravo!
Late to the party here, but man did your build turn out great. Found this searching for ideas for making a garden bed/bench combo for the back yard. Thanks for uploading!
Wow i love the way Americans do their own diy we Indians have lot to learn on thing i have understood you need to have tools little big working space and knowlege of using the tool and basic education on Carpentery i am sure we can give carpenters run for their money...
I'm sure the people who gave you this beautiful ceder wood was like!! Awww Man, we shoulda kept our deck wood!!😳 You got them skills Man....100% be blessed😍💖👍
Hey’ Micheal,Godbless ya’ excellent, excellent, excellent, truly excellent, build , glad to see someone has given hope to someone like me , I lOVE ❤️ DIY projects , and I’ve done everything and haven’t built any poor DIY products and projects, But I won’t attempt an DIY project unless it comes out flawlessly, I tried all else except a little of wood work , But definitely gonna try this , thanks heaps and please keep posting , I’ve subscribed to support you and wish all the other wood work poster’s would take the time to put the excellent amount of effort into the same detail showing ‘ behind. ‘ the seems of hows it’s made , especially the support and ‘ Skeletal frame ‘ which is hard to gauge , especially when looking at other peoples build, trying to work out how they’ve done it , Thank you and Godbless , safe travels Micheal :)
To je fantázia 👍 💓 takže konštatujem: vy už máte a teraz príďte urobiť mne 😉 žartujem 😀 ale naozaj veľmi obdivujem, veľmi sa mi to páči a samozrejme že by som vyvýšený záhon s lavičkou brala všetkými desiatimi 👏 ďakujem veľmi pekne za video a pozdravujem zo Slovenska 🇸🇰😀
Jacob Streiff it’s a good little trick. I learned it from a boat builder. You can use it on all sorts of angles too. That’s where it’s a life saver!! Thanks for watching!
I bought a Sawmill 3 yrs ago and have never made a piece of anything yet. I live in South East Kansas and we have alot of red cedar here. I think I'll try it with some of that. My logs are all Urban cuts or I drag the out of the wood dump. I like that you use recycled wood when you can. Makes a difference I think.
sureshot311 yeah! It’s pretty simple. You use the kerf of the saw blade to correct minor inaccuracies in the miter. As you cut the slot material gets removed from both sides of the miter until they are both even. You have to cut the piece slightly long to do this, and I probably cut the slot three times before the slot lined up. Hope that helps
bluddy hell...wood must be cheap as chips in the US . ! .... That amount of wood would cost over $400 here in the UK . Very nice looking planter bench and a great video anyway
Beautiful creation man. I'm trying to convince the wife into letting me build something similar off our back patio to define the yard from the entertaining area
Do you have any tips on how to build something similar on uneven ground? i want to do something similar to hide the hidious uneven edging of my garden but struggling with ideas of how to secure it properly on uneven ground. If you could help with ideas i would appreciate it a lot.
I noticed your crosscut sled has both a vertical and 45 degree slot. How did you offset the two cuts? Quick setup or did you have to switch out your runners?
@@MichaelAlm Great Idea. I'll give it a go on my sled. It's actually be easier since I used edge runners (I'm stuck with the unfortunate proprietary tabbed slots of my Craftsman).

Another amazing video and project Michael!
Thank you!!
Just came across this video and I'm completely in love with this bench! Watching you work is a zen experience!

Absolutely amazing. I wondered if you had a step by step written guide with measurements on it available?
At BBQ - hey do you have any tomatoes for the burgers? Yeah, just reach behind you! Great build, great edit. Thanks for the video.
Exactly! Thanks Tharemy!!
The quality of the trees looks so good. Wood feels healthy. like
That's the nicest reclaimed wood I've seen
Late to the party here, but man did your build turn out great. Found this searching for ideas for making a garden bed/bench combo for the back yard. Thanks for uploading!
The music and sound FX were epicccccc
Amazing work and design!
Nice one, Michael! I like how you built it all in place, piece by piece, as you went. I like the bench being integrated in it as well.
Thanks Bruce!
Awesome trick to clean up that mitre with the pull saw. I am stealing that one.
That was a beauty of a project and I'm going to have to remember that miter cornet/trim saw technique!
Awesome job...you have a new follower. Cheers from Italy
Nice work!!!!! Greetings from Athens,Greece!
Very nice I would be so proud of my hubby if I was married and he did this for our house👍
Wow i love the way Americans do their own diy we Indians have lot to learn on thing i have understood you need to have tools little big working space and knowlege of using the tool and basic education on Carpentery i am sure we can give carpenters run for their money...
Wow well done. That looks brilliant
Nice job. Love the reclaimed Merc.
Inspired by this video, currently doing mine Thank you.
Cool build! I may have to borrow some ideas when i get around to building some more on the roof deck.
Thanks Mike! Go for it!!
Marcelo Sands a coating can help, but cedar is naturally rot resistant which is why it’s used for outdoor furniture
I'm sure the people who gave you this beautiful ceder wood was like!! Awww Man, we shoulda kept our deck wood!!😳
You got them skills Man....100% be blessed😍💖👍
This is a fantastic build. The whole look is amazing.
This is AWESOME! I'm getting my boyfriend to build this for my garden! Thank you!

Michael great work. Loving your channel.
That looks really awesome 😍 😍 great movie 👋great work 👍
because ._cnc thank you!
First video of yours I've watched. First thing I notice - I LOVE the Merc Wagon.
3:51 i think if you add a piece in the middle down that could hold much better and it won't move , nice work 👍🏽
Thanks for the advice. Once the seats went on it got pretty sturdy, but if things start to move, I'll add in a cross piece. Thanks!
Nice job and design
Congrats from France
AHHH so much free wood. I love it.
Coolest lumber hauler (vehicle) award!
Edit: Finished the video and that looks great! Good job.
Hahaha, thanks Joshua!
Simple and great idea! Great! well done, music selection A+!!!!!!!!
I'd like to point out, on this day, 4 years ago, there was sun in Portland. Cheers!
amazing work! :)
Nice bench...the song is awesome too
7:42 Im new to woodworking/deck building but this is a genius idea, so hard to get a perfect join, a thin saw blade to even the gap, I like it
Jacob Streiff it’s a good little trick. I learned it from a boat builder. You can use it on all sorts of angles too. That’s where it’s a life saver!! Thanks for watching!
Love your builds, nice work 👍
Nice car.The golden one.
Miguel Angel 😁
How did you anchor the wood at the base to the ground? I see what looks like an anchor at 0:55 but I only see one.
Nice trick on the miter that wasn't right!
nice projekt
greetings from germany
Benjamin Roth thank you! Greetings from Seattle!
You’re watching a master at work
id have considered utilising the under bench space for some kind of storage. maybe have seat slats lift up to reach the storage
At first I thought I was looking at a segmented raised bed then I went, "OOOOHHHH!"
The neighbor is gonna see this and want their wood back.
Dude.. this is awesome! Great work my friend
Love the miter saw work. I’m looking at redesigning my back yard and you just added an awesome idea. Shhhh no one will know lol
Very Impressive!
I am an easy dude: I see that mans golden merc, i subscribe!
Na, your content is gold too mate! Love it!
That Mercedes is putting pick up trucks out of business. Lol. Awesome video!
Wagons 4 Life!
Hi, what did you use, to cover inside? this black foil? you used at 8:30
Cool, tomorrows project, but ill do it next yr
Nice miter edge trick. I'll be using it.
Yeah! It's super handy. I think it's an old boat builder trick.
I bought a Sawmill 3 yrs ago and have never made a piece of anything yet. I live in South East Kansas and we have alot of red cedar here. I think I'll try it with some of that. Thanks Michael. I try to reuse materials whenever possible. I’m jealous you have so much lumber. Good luck with you project!
Michael Alm Could we please talk about this trick? I was like, what is going on... What is it you did there? Thank you.

Thanks Joel! I hope you get to build one. This was really fun, and pretty quick to make.

I can't find these plans on your website
Wanting to build this as a wedding gift to my fiance. I just need it shorter, like a 2 seater! About how much in materials should I budget?
Good job
That's one big bench!
9Ft! Lying down and there's still room for 2 more people!!
Or two cuddling 4'5" tall couples!
What kind od woods that can stand in the sun...
how is called the tool used at 6:00 please ?
This is amazing.
this is fantastic do you have measurements for the build
I'D Even consider hiding a beer fridge draw under the planter.
Nice Car in the back.
Nice wagon.
ConductorRyan thanks! it’s the best!
Brilliant

Verry good , not bad for a guy like you :)
I know this is a 3 yr old video. I'm wondering how it held up over time?
I get snow and rain. even cedar takes a beating by me. P.S great job.
Its a little grayer, but it’s still in good shape. We don’t get much snow here so that may’ve helped. Thank you!
I noticed your crosscut sled has both a vertical and 45 degree slot. How did you offset the two cuts? Quick setup or did you have to switch out your runners?
The runners are off set on that saw so I just flipped it around.

How cool are you ?! Can gardening too? Real deal !
