  • We're going SCIENTIFIC in OBJECTIVELY measuring if Cupra's are ANY GOOD?!
    Cupra is the SPORTS CAR brand of Seat, the spicy Spanish manufacturer owned by VW... but are they actually any good? Well, using our specialist timing gear, we're taking the entire Leon range and a Formentor VZx out on a race track to performance test just how fast they are from 0-100km/h, from base model V to top-of-the-range VZx. We'll also drive each one on track so you can know if track work - no matter what grade - is any good! So just how good are Cupra's? Well, let's talk about that in this MEGA test!

      I am torn between the VZX and Formentor but with a family, has to be the Formentor otherwise definitely the VZX! Really a lifestyle choice end of the day for me.

      The Formentor looks a lot more special than the Leon. And there is a lot of room in the back, including headroom. I've had my Formentor VZx for nearly 12 months now and it is truly a cracking car.

      VZx one. Real answer is none (no manual and also not sure if the brand will even hang around longer term in this market).

    Awesome vid guys! Quality stuff.
    Personally I'd take an Ateca VZx, because thats exactly what I've just purchased (used) for NZD $35K! Its quick, practical and great to drive down a back country road.

    @carsauce Have you put the track times for the vz and vze the wrong way around as you said in the review the vz was better around the track but the times suggest otherwise?

    I’ve owned the Formentor VZ for 6 months , from new I’ve had its first 15k service , the only car that makes me smile everytime I drive it , I don’t use Cupra mode as much as Individual mode
    Individual mode when I’m bored with Cupra sound I put on Pure mode with Comfort Suspension.
    Anyone looking for a mid SUV , don’t look past this car.
    I sold my 2023 Audi Q 5 , boring compared to Cupra

    Leon VZ is the best value for money based on 0-100kmh. I personally would take the Formentor VZX.

    I'd have an i30N, cos I could have a manual and it won't have VAG reliability issues.
    Happy new year to you too, looking forward to what comes in 2024.

    • @42cuba
      @42cuba 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What VAG reliability issues, specific to the MQB? i30N are known to grenade with minimal tuning, which is almost unheard with the EA888 even at stage 3.

      @@42cuba talk to any mechanic unfortunate enough to deal with VAG products. Timing chains, electrical problems, plastic garbage throughout the engine bay, and the rest.

    • @42cuba
      @42cuba 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mahcooharper9577 I said specifics - do you know this drivetrain or just guessing? Every manufacturer has bad cars and engines. The EA888 is considered one of the best 2l turbo engines ever made. There are daily drivable MQB cars with this drivetrain running 9 second 1/4s and reliable.

    • @mahcooharper9577
      @mahcooharper9577 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@42cuba I'm not arguing about their performance potential or their ability to be tuned, I'm pointing out that VAG make cars that might (if you're lucky) hang together for the warranty period but owning one outside that is a pretty scary proposition. The EA888 has a strong rotating assembly but there's more to reliability and quality of ownership than that. I personally know someone who had a Mk8 Golf bought back because it developed seemingly unfixable electrical issues with less than 300km on the clock, and the second one lasted about 7000km before the mechanical rot set in.
      And my best mate runs a workshop and reckons half his business is fixing broken VWs, Audis and Skodas - frequently with immaculate service histories and low km. I doubt being built in Spain would improve things in the case of these.
      If you want to run the gauntlet you're welcome to, but I'd rather save some money and have something that has a chance of being reliable in the long term.

      @@mahcooharper9577strong rotating assembly? Mr mechanic please tell me more? You clearly have no idea what you are referring or talking about. And to call out an i30N as a more reliable car than the MQB platform with a gen 4 EA888? Please dude..seriously
