Hi Gary, enjoyed seeing your makes and happy mail. Pretty yarn colors.
Wow,great gifted socks and afghan for puppers🎉!
I love these gifts so much!
The Teatime yarn scarf is beautiful. I don’t knit-but your work inspires me to try again.
Hi Gary.Beautiful shawls. Great colors. Nice yarn haul. I like the novelty sparkle thread. The minis sounds like they were named after Adele. Pixel is too cute.
Awe - Rolling in the Deep by Adele. I see where you're coming from!
The shawl you made is gorgeous love the color
Thanks Joan!
Hi Gary👋Always great catching up with you! I love all your makes & I loved all the yarn. The socks are beautiful too! Take care🥰
Thanks Lori. Sending you and yours well wishes too.
You are so talented thank you for doing these tutorials 😊
I love that overlay stitch on your shawl Gary- I have added a crochet border on knit edges to help overcome a rolling edge issue like that- I did two rows of single crochet edging - I did like the look of that edge showing the wrong side when you had the shawl on though 😊
I agree about the crochet to fix a rolling edge. I have done that with a knit cocoon sweater sleeve. I added crochet cross stitches and that helped and was decorative. I do think it was a tension problem, Gary, in the beginning to cause the curl. I have to remind myself to not start those rows too tight when using a garter tab. But really lovely and inspiring, Gary :) Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for that tip on the rolling edge! I'll have to try it out and cross fingers that the edge doesn't get too bulky.
I have picked up knitting twice and couldn’t find joy in it. But sometimes I watch your videos and I get the urge to try one more time.
I hear you clearly on what crafts can be a pleasure and others that are more challenging to relax into.
Hi Honey I hope everything is going great 👍 for your family.
Pixel is just too darn cute
Love her ❤❤
I am happy you are feeling better
Yay! Thanks for letting me know that this video helped cheer you up!
@@urbanyarn it sure did Gary. It was a bad day until I watched you ❤️❤️
so glad your feeling better - love your makes - so pretty = also love your happy mail - green is my fav color too
Hello Donna - thanks for your message. I'm feeling better.
Hi Gary, your makes are always so amazingly beautiful and your nack for putting colors together is phenomenal.
Totally enjoyed this video. Hi to Chad n hugs to Pixel.
hiya gary! for the roll that didnt block out...i would roll/fold it under (toward the underside) then simply and lightly stitch it down. there is a lot to try to flatten out by blocking. its a lovely piece. you are terrific with colors. btw, lots of upcycle alpaca is on sale/clearance. hugs to you, chad and pixel!!
Thanks for the tip on the curl. I've got a sense to see if it wears itself straight and then perhaps add a crochet row to the top and reassess.
Hi Gary good to see you. Have a wonderful week 💜
You too
Hi Gary hoping everyone is well and you have great looking shawls you are inspiring to me thank for the wonderful videos 😊😊❤❤❤
Thanks Pam - we are well here. I hope you're getting a good start on your March.
You always make the prettiest things out of colors I wouldn't normally gravitate towards. Everything is always beautiful.
Thank you so much!
Hi Gary! So much yummy content, hard to choose just one as a favorite. Hope all is well with Chad, Pixel, and yourself.
Thanks Jan for the message and the compliment. These are days for much crafting indoors and I hope you are keeping warm up in Alaska!
Hi Gary. Hello from a fellow Canadian 🇨🇦 in Ottawa. Your shawl/scarf is lovely as is hanks cowl. Thanks for all your sharing 😊
Thanks for watching!
Hi Gary! Love seeing all the things!
Hello Lynette! My list of things to make always keeps growing no matter how many of them I finish up... LOL!
Hi Gary, Loved everything and love those green shades with a little mustard.
LOL - sounds like a great hot dog toppings (...a bit of greens and mustard). You'll have to forgive me, I've been looking at the computer screen all day!
Oh my stars! Is there anything you can’t do? 😂 Your makes are gorgeous! I have to wait until later this week to order my Twill, but I’m so excited for it! Thank you for sharing, Gary. Pixel is a doll. 🥰🧶🐕
Hello Ruthie - So great to get your message. You are so kind and I hope you are enjoying the last bit of February!
Your lovely projects are stunning. Thank you for the yarn reviews and information.
My pleasure - thank you for watching!
* giggles * Gary backside 😂
LOL!
Hey glad you all enjoyed your box. Your sparkle socks are a shawl in a ball as well. I’ll look for the colour way. The squin yarn I use for hats. It adds some bling to a super simple hat pattern like a Ross Hat. Glad Pixel is having such a good time at classes.
Hello Melinda! I'm so happy you messaged! I love all the gifts in the box you sent. Chad and I both have started wearing our socks!
You always do such beautiful work! ❤️🧶
Thank you so much!
You always do such beautiful work. Thank you for sharing.❤
Thank you so much!
Hi Gary, I just wanted to let you know that Shannon from Another Yarn used that shiny yarn and a beanie, and it came out beautiful!
Thanks for the tip and the TH-camr to watch. I'm always up for inspiration!
Great shawl projects, Gary. You always choose such wonderful color combinations. Hank is looking very dapper in his Cobblestone Cowl too. We got snow down here last night and supposed to snow again tonight!! What a very odd February.... Guess I'll just keep making hats :)
I can understand that confusion too with the weather. We had slush and ice - when only a few days ago we were in 2 figure temps (of course that would be in Celsius).
I don’t knit but I love all your vids. Thank you Gary ❤
Thanks Kimmie!
I'm glad you're feeling better, it shows 😊love your wips, and purchases. Really love the deep rainbow mini hanks ❤ Your happy mail was incredible, you deserve it. Happy days to you and yours 😊🥰💛💚💙.
Thank you so much!
Dear Gary,
❤❤❤ Happy to see that you are feeling better. Love the Colourist shawl, my only idea would be (against the moustachy look) to knit or to crochet a border/an edge..
Have a nice week
I may try to crochet a row or two on the top boarder to prevent the curl.
I never would have thought to make socks with Shawl in a Ball. Great use of that yarn. The puppy blanket looks like it might have been knitted up on a circular knitting machine and seamed.
Hi Egore - I think you are correct on Pixel's knitted blanket.
HI Gary thanks for sharing your amazing yarn Looking forward to what you make with the UpCycle
Hi Lynnanne - I've been watching your progress on the upcycle wearable you've been working on and it's very much inspired me to do a wearable too. BTW - your raglan cardigan is stunning. I was watching on TV this morning and couldn't comment, but I will do that now!
Tell Chad we miss his modeling and check ins!😊
I'll let him know!
You know I am not going to leave until you are done.🎉🎉 I did not know green was your favorite color. I will have to treat you like I do Crystal and I hope you understand why I do what I do.
such a great video. Love all your projects. You inspired me every video
Thanks Sherry!
There are so many TH-camrs I would love to watch but I've had to cut back because I don't have time to crochet if I'm watching TH-cam. I had to choose my favorites and just stick with them and it usually takes me a while to catch up on the stuff that you put out. But of course darling you I kept. I love watching your videos. I finally had to buy yarn and I loved it. Now I have to save for groceries. Good thing is I had food.
Awe, you are so sweet and this comment has made me smile!
I love the Ronaldsy yarn. It looks a bit like the yarn I am working with from the alpaca ranch. It's a blend of wool and alpaca. I'm working on fingerless mitts, headbands, hikers socks and such. I love it!
Those items sound so toasty warm in the alpaca you're using!
Oh my Gary, what beautiful yarns and I love your shawls. I wish I could put colors together but I just don't have that knack.
Hi Donna - I would keep trying to play as much with any leftover yarn you have and experiment. There's so much fun and it's a good way to build up some of your favourite personal colour combos.
The sequined yarn is nice for combining allover or even just a great edging
I use the premier thread to make fancy doll dresses I have also held it with a fingering wt yarn to make fancy evening shawls for my nieces proms, parties et al 😊
That sounds like the perfect use for the sparkly yarn - your projects sound delicately superb.
Hi Gary. I saw the grocery girls used that sparsely yarn held with something else. They made gorgeous sweaters with it.
Thanks for the tip on holding the sparkly yarn together. I've been reading very similar ideas as this one in here. Appreciate your help!
They use them for placmats and suach
Christine a lot of work
😮
Love the yarn. Your projects are wonderful. Wish I had the patience to try new stitches.
Thank you! 😊 ...I'm sometimes the same way with my crafting - at times I like the new learn and others I want to lose myself in the work (not having to count or stop and assess).
Beautiful projects and yarns! Your amazing. That is all. Lol
Linda you are so kind and your comment has made my day!
I bought a ton of the sport weight Upcycle when it was $2 a ball with a 5ball limit. It's really nice. I used the worsted weight in a huge mosaic patterned shawl. As usual I enjoyed your show.
I did the same thing Barbara when Upcycle was at that price. That's where I discovered it was so delightful. That mosaic project sounds magical!
Thank you for showing all the items.. I just saw Nina knots crochet enabler video that WeCrochet has a sale for today only... leap year 2/29 on their double tunisian crochet hook set, the new set and their Dots crochet hooks are 50% off. I believe the brown socks are made with shawl in a ball/cake, Namaste colorway. I have the yarn here at home.
I saw that Lynanne got those hooks on sale too. I have a value set of Tunisian, but haven't gotten into it as I thought I would.
Hi Gary,, hows all? I really love your shirt!😊
All things are peachy thanks Joanneannese - Hoping you are having a great start to your week.
You can use the Enchant yarn held double with another to add a little bling to a project
That's a great idea - thanks SilverShadow!
Hi, have great day
You too Mary!
We have been watching on Apple TV Master of the air. It is really good.
Oh Margaret - I'm watching it too. When the action scenes are done, I really enjoy the "on-ground" stories.
That knitted mesh shawl color way is so pretty. ❤❤ I love that you do experiments..😅 you had me laughing out loud at the fact you aren't using the jade and red twist.😅 have you watched the new True Detectives? With Jodi Foster .
I haven't seen that show True Detectives with Jodi Foster. I do love getting recommendations on new things to watch though.
Hi Gary, just now watching your video. In the UK 4ply is usually thinner than DK usually a 2 weight. The wool is from the islands that are at the top of Scotland and you pronounce them Heb -'ra -dees . You'll have fun working with it.
Thanks Susan for helping me to understand the yarn weights - there are so many types of measurements and I'm going to have to visit Scotland to learn how to pronounce that word... LOL!
I used a simular yarn on a triangle scarf. It wascbeautiful.
Those variegated blended coloured yarns are so encouraging - they entice me to keep working to see how the next parts will work up.
That shawl is gorgeous!!! Love the colors, especially the peachy blush accent. I don’t knit but I would roll it to the back side and slip stitch it in place.
Great tip!
A wonderful surprise post today. Thanks Gary!
Such wonderful treats - yarny and foodie! Your household sure has a lot of sweet teeth.
I haven't seen the show you mentioned. I am excited to see the new series Shogun on Disney+ this week. I remember watching the original way back when as well as reading the novel.
Take care and hugs for Chad + Pixel.
Hi Valerie!
I'm so happy to have snuck in a video earlier this week. Thanks for flagging that there's a new Shogun series. I watched the original mini-series back in the day as well. Was it Richard Chamberlain? (just checked and that's a name that I haven't thought about in ages).
Love all the stuff, noticed there was lots of green (your favorite color of course), but where was the orange? hehehe. Love ya
LOL - Laura I know it's a feast for green lovers and not so much for your beloved orange. I'll see what I can do about it.
So beautiful 🌼🧶 work
Thank you so much 😊
Yeah, I can never get rid of that "peak" either & don't care for it.
I'm almost convinced it's a design flaw. Not to mention, I'm not a fan of overblocking. I actually love the look of the stitch patterning.
The "sparkly" socks are definitely a shawl-in-a-ball, I have that colorway somewhere!!😂 Didn't know you could use it for socks!
I'm glad you showed that "enchant", I'll have to look for that, someone wanted me to make a blinged-up cowl & that would DEFINITELY work!!
The Enchant would be excellent choice for your friend's blinged-up cowl! It's really singing in the light and will be a great one to pair with another yarn.
Love the shawls and colors!! On my list to learn to knit this year haven’t started yet nervous on it being super hard.
There's only one way to find out - and I have every confidence in you learning it, defeating those concerns and opening up all those doors to a entirely new craft.
The shawls are so gorgeous. Your knitting skills are excellent and the color/fabric combinations are right on. Looking forward to seeing what greatness you create with all your new yarn. Your happy mail would make me very happy too, especially the handmade items. 🥰
Hi Joyce - thanks for commenting. I'm in thought about putting all the souvenir happy mail yarns from farm to yarn - into a sweater and every time I wear it, it'll remind me of all the places others have thought of me while they travelled.
Hi Gary! I always love waking up to see a new video from you. It makes my day! Love all of your makes and thank you so much for sharing them. Hugs to you, Chad, and adorable Pixel!
Hi Penny! Sending hugs to you, Gwinn and Missy!
I mixed that sequin yarn with lion brand merino dk on a 4mm needle. not really itchy.
Good to know - thanks JaneOliver!
OMG Gary ❤🎉 that first shawl is absolutely gorgeous 🥰😍❤🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much!!
Hey Gary, love all do as you know, but that shawl is exquisite. Love the color of that yarn. Cornflower is beautiful.
Your stitch work is so beautiful! I love the shawls (they are my favorite). I'm glad you are feeling better. Hugs to Chad and Pixal (and to you, of course). Thanks for sharing your life with us, your friend from Utah, US. 💜🩵🩷
Hello friend! I hope you are enjoying the last few days of February.
Hi Gary, beautiful makes and those minis are gorgeous.Ahhh Pixel you’re so sweet.Take care Gary.😊🧶❤️
Thanks Roxanna - you take care too!
@@urbanyarn you’re welcome and thanks so much.🥰
Love your socks from your Sock Angel! I love interesting /crazy socks! Love Pixil's gifts as well!
Thank you! 😊 Melinda is the sock angel!
Hi Gary everything so beautiful and nice to see you again
Thanks so much - so nice to read your comment!
Thank you
Hi Gary love your finished work so so much just beautiful! The wip shawl is looking so lovely you're very talented Kaye x
Thanks so much!
Hi Gary ! Good to see you. As always. Gorgeous work ❤. Beautiful yarn thx for sharing ❤. Super cute socks ! Glad you’re feeling better ❤
Thank you for leaving me this cheerful message! 😊
Hi Gary! Love the shawls and all the goodies you received. As always beautiful work! Thanks for sharing! 🤗💛
Hi Nancy - I did get so many great gifts in the happy mail. I'm so spoiled!
I've knit several shawls using the tab start and some have huge "mustache" shapes and some are barely noticeable. I would compare the pattern tab instructions to see how different they are. Stephen West's garter tabs are great. Not sure if acrylic vs wool makes a difference other than in blocking.
Good idea on the garter tab instructions. I'm guessing the following rows were a bit tight too in comparison, as the increase stitches were "Borrowing" yarn from the border stitches to make them happen.
Makes sense
Ross of Smells Like Yarn uses the glittery yarn and mixes it with another yarn. I don't know if he uses that fabric as a wearable.
I think I saw that unboxing from Ross and a few hats he made with the shiny sparkle yarn.
So beautiful! Metallic iridescent, I think. I have used yarns like that for free style odd rows for shawls and stoles. Also good in head bands for feature rows.
That's a great idea share Kate! Thanks!
Breathtakingly stunning! The colorist..👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😍😍😍😍😍heh bruh deez = Hebrides lol 🤣
It's a fun pattern to work through. The technique kept me interested and coming back for more.
@@urbanyarn I adore all your projects ..you have a truly great talent ..👏👏👏👏🥰 and I love your videos they supply a peaceful, happy oasis. ThankYOU..
🥰🥰🥰
Jaxie!
@@urbanyarn I've noticed that that little extra fabric at the neck of a shawl is in the increases. Not enough increases on the ends makes it angle down. IT NEEDS MORE DYLITHIUM STITCHES! aka more increases on the ends less at the point/center. Smooooches! Scuuurrrt!
