The last 15 mins of music to ET is ASTOUNDING!! It is so epic, beautiful and intensely emotionally moving. SImply a masterpiece. When it quiets down and moves into the goodbye finale? I am a bathtub.
The greatest 15 minutes of John Williams illustrious career. Transcended this finale to another level of emotion. Gets me every time. Absolute perfection.
I'll never not tear up hearing the crowd's reaction to them taking flight. I saw this film in the cinema last year, and it's the only film I've ever been to that got an applause at the end. 40 years ago!!!!
I never married, I guess by choice. But the closest I ever came to being a father was when I would take my two nephews to the movies. They are grown men now with lives of their own but I will always cherish the times I had with them, especially the time we all three cried at the end of E.T. I will always love you Anthony and Adam.
Can't watch this film publicly anymore~ I melt down emotionally every time toward the end. The story and the music are SO powerful... BRAVO to Steven and John and all involved!
Spielberg allowed something that most films rarely did: he made us, the ordinary people, the chance to believe we could have these extraordinary things happen. You didn't need to venture to far away places, go to that haunted house in Scotland...his films showed that in the 'safety' of suburbia, anything was possible. Aliens could be hiding in your neighborhood, that house down the street could be haunted by poltergeists, your local mad scientist could be testing out his new time machine at the local mall's parking lot, pirate treasure could be buried in your home town, and much more!
What an extremely special experience that must've been to be there and hear the legendary John Williams conduct the live score to one of the greatest films ever made. 💖💖💖
I have always loved E.T. and I still remember seeing it when I was just 10 years old with my dad and we seen 3 or 4 times in the theater and it’s still a classic.
as wonderful a movie as E.T. is, this music is greater than any movie deserves! was so fortunate to also be in the audience this same night, on my birthday.
The genius of the end of ET and John Williams is that basically from the moment he bike chase starts, it’s essentially all driving through the music score
I cried for two movies. This is one of them, second was Schindlers List (especially the ending when they all stood outside and wished him farewell). Steven Spielberg and John Williams is a match maid in heaven.
My parents remember being in the audience for one of the preview showings in Los Angeles. They remember that people (including them) were standing and jumping up and down even as the final scene was showing, and that as soon as the ship created the rainbow, the entire audience turned as one to the back of the theater where everyone involved in the production was watching and gave them a standing ovation.
What still hurts is those final five or six minutes, especially when E.T. lights the tip of his finger close to Elliot's face and says "I'll be right here.", before Elliot replies with "Goodbye."
Love this. Gotta say 1 thing though, I find it really disrespectful when people talk while John Williams is talking and the movie and orchestra are playing. I can see the crowd cheering and reacting as they should, but talking to someone? Come on people it can wait till its over. On a side note I remember when my sister took me to see this on my birthday when I was a like 13 I think. I cried when ET and Elliot were dieng and I litterley stood up and yelled HE'S ALIVE!!! When ET came to life! ET will always have a special place in my heart!
08:36 YES! The proper version with the shotguns in! Not the “special edition” where they recut it and replaced the shotguns with Walkin talkies in the wide shot as they take off! Such a dumb move, but I’m guessing Steven was just following in his best mate George’s’ path!
Thanks so much for posting this. Thisis my all time favourite movie & particulary the music. I still have the original DVD at home. I was only 16 when it came out at the movies & saw it 8 times. Hearing & seeing the last 15 minutes is worth the price of the ticket alone. Great video picture quality & sound. What type of camera are you using?
Easily, one of the greatest 15 minutes in the history of the movies. Thank you, Steven Spielberg and John Williams, for blessing us with this.
+buddy51 truly! i still cry every time... the perfect synergy of music and images ever
Agreed! Would have paid a million dollars to experience this.
I completely agree with you. I tear up just thinking about ET. 💕

A movie and score that is so moving and emotional, it practically rips your heart out. So beautiful and so iconic. It never fails to make me cry.
Aroreiel I could not have said it better myself 🙌🏽

This movie would not be what it is without the music. Williams is a genius.
Yes! IMHO it’s John Williams’ best score!
My most favorite movie of all time

It’s impossible to watch this scene and not cry
Orchestra music in general perfectly tugs at my heart strings
this was absolutely astounding to watch
loved the crowds reaction to when they took flight
just an awesome reaction to a classic
I thought everyone would be going, "Aw!" when Elliot and ET hugged.
So totally touching and amazing, no one like JOhn Williams and Speilberg to touch ones soul.

I'm not married either. Probably never will, but you never know.
One cannot like this enough.

I was there for this! A moment I’ll remember forever. Fantastic concert.

JOHN WILLIAMS: MAESTRO OF THE MOVIES
Hollywood Bowl 2012
What an extremely special experience that must've been to be there and hear the legendary John Williams conduct the live score to one of the greatest films ever made. 💖💖💖
The tears start flowing at 12:40...
This is my favorite piece of music bar none.
Absolutely amazing thank you so much for uploading

If I’m not mistaken, Spielberg even re-edited the entire sequence to line up with the music because it’s just so damn perfect.
Bravo Maestro!

Oh wow I was there, that was amazing.
8:44 is pure cinema magic
The movie that touched the world
Beautiful performance. Thanks for uploading this!
The best film Disney never made. Timeless. WHen the full string section comes in at 12:36. Forget it. A puddle.
@@crazyalarmstudios2012 Yeah if you actually Read my comment you'll see that I said that.
Excuse me as I watch this over and over for the rest of the day... and cry.
14:16 - 14:20 my eyes ALWAYS start tearing up, every damn time.
I really like when e.t. says thank you to Michael for the kids help to bring him back to his ship
What still hurts is those final five or six minutes, especially when E.T. lights the tip of his finger close to Elliot's face and says "I'll be right here.", before Elliot replies with "Goodbye."
"I'll be right here." Instant water works.
And what makes me cry even more: those onions were like *brothers* to me!
Alexis Machine I start to lose it at “Ouch.”.
And the score doesn't help either .... Just increases water flow.
More adults than children at that event.
Thank you thank you very much for sharing
Beautiful!

12:08 "thank...you"
“Hey, who are you?”
“I’m driving”
Betcha there wasn't a dry eye in that audience.

Ok who cried?...i did not seen the film in 25 years.
What day it will start again because I really want to go and I really want to bring my mom and dad
❤❤❤❤

Stuart Grandquist The movie and the score are, indeed, masterpieces.
Drew didn't listen to E.T.'s advice "BE GOOD".
I'd be applauding right before it went to black and be standing up!
@redfawnstudios I respectfully disagree...tear star flowing about 2 minutes in.
I'm a man pushing 30 and STILL I break down from ET. It's my childhood favorite.
Hi,
Where are you sitting what section? thanks
I was there that night. So incredible!
