In my opinion, the information in this video is really important. However, I also feel like if you can understand what I'm saying, you're probably already beyond the stage of translating in your head, so maybe it was a pointless video? Feel free to let me know what you think.
Your advices are very important to speak language well. When i start to learn English i try to understand everything i heard and read. But then, i realize that i don't need to understand every word. Just be me at that time. Live every day fully in the present. I don't know English well, i can't speak English fluently, i can't read every word, i don't know grammar, etc... But it's ok. I will learn a little and improve a little every day. Never give up❤❤. Thank you Teacher. You're giving me good lessons day by day. Now i'm not caring to much about grammar or mistake when i write this comment. So it can have many mistakes.
In fact, I don't translate in my mind anymore; I just speak to the person in the mirror, as always! Your advice is very precious, Mike. Thank you so much.
You're right. I also think that translation stops language learners from speaking fluently as I used to do with English. At the present, I have stopped doing translation in my head, but the challenge is still listening to native speakers and remembering vocabulary.
Hi my teacher Mike, Im Samar thanks for your useful information. we give us the trust to continue even though we dont know every transalation. for every word
Yes it's a useful video. But when I'm listening or reading something and I hear some word I don't understand, I feel actually blocked. So I'm going to try to follow your advice. Thank you so much teacher Mike.
To me, the words and phrases are automatically come out during the conversation. As English is different from my first language, it is hard to translate it over the conversation. For grammar mistakes over the conversation, I agree not to worry too much. If you worry too much, you will not have confidence to go on. Thanks for the lesson, Teacher Mike.😊
Just started watching teacher mike after a while of taking break from learning English the only teacher who posted everything about English thanks teacher Mike hope one day we all see how do you speak in daily life .
This lesson is super useful and encouraging because we see that making grammar mistakes is not a bad thing and is Ok to do that sometimes when speaking English. I think learning new vocabulary helps us express ourselves better. 😊😁
Thankyou teacher Mike . I always repet more Grammars every day and practice them , my pronounce was bad , i slove this problem by read my book and listening to podcasts . This problem is still fifty and fifty , the worst problem is for forget before words that read them . I must have schedule for repeat them . 🤔🤔
I can hear English, but I can't speak and I even have trouble writing, because I don't practice it, but I do listen to many videos. And follow many native speakers. I happy for all what I've learned. And I appreciate your lessons Teacher Mike.
Ah man, I am fine with English, I can write anything (not everything) but I can write I want to say to someone. My problem is speaking. I have no time to listen every word from Translator's speaker (how it sounds, how to pronounce it) and also remember how to say that. I am still thinking in my language and translate it to English and I think that this is the problem. I heard many times that you should thinking in language you want to speak. I am Slovakian, our grammar is way more complex and difficult then English, I live in the UK since 2008 but still cannot speak fluently 😥 Thank you for this video and I want to tell you that you are the real helper for everyone who need to be familiar with English. Hat off man for your video and once more thank you for your work. If you understood this comment then it means that I am good in English, just cannot speak fluently and that;s what I wanted to point ion here. Maybe because I am writing slower then speak 😜 Who knows 😉
Thanks a lot. It sounds like you are aware of your own strengths and weaknesses, and that is a very good thing. You are probably correct that the problem is that you rely on your native language too much. You need to watch some TV shows and JUST LISTEN. Don't even ask yourself "Do I understand this?" Just relax and listen. And when you hear something that sounds useful, repeat it out loud and write it down. And when speaking, instead of starting in your first language, try asking yourself what the English answer to that question is or what you think an English speaker would say.
I don't have a exact question. I have just to say do you agree with me that we should vary our vocabulary. for example we say in first place in my opinion in the second. in my point of view

Hello, Mike, I have a question, with great respect. Why do you call yourself a "teacher" if Americans say it's incorrect. Thanks for clearing up my doubt. 🙌
I think you mean "Why do you call yourself Teacher Mike?" And there are lots of reasons. Here are 2. 1. You can call yourself whatever you want. 2. If I called myself "Mr + last name" I would have to tell everyone my last name, and no one would understand the purpose of my channel.
It's not something you should worry about. It's definitely going to happen sometimes, but it's better to try to speak and make a mistake than it is to not speak at all.
Speaking fluently means that you can communicate easily without stopping and thinkimg too much. As well, speaking fluently doesn't mean that your grammar and pronunciation are perfect. 😁

You're right. I also think that translation stops language learners from speaking fluently as I used to do with English.

It's good that you are self-aware. If you want to improve your weaknesses, just keep working on them. ✅
I don't translate in my head while having a conversation with my friends. I just speak what comes to my mind. 😊
Excellent.✅

I hesitate to speak english language because if i mistake grammer it can give different meaning so.
It's not something you should worry about. It's definitely going to happen sometimes, but it's better to try to speak and make a mistake than it is to not speak at all.

I think, most of beginners translate in their heads.
Some do. Some don't. I never did that when starting to learn a foreign language, and no one needs to.
I used to translate when ever lam talking to someone, that's the problem lam not fluent
