Kevin, you’re a life saver! I’ve been needing a video like this as I convert a lot of files from one format to another. I typically use Nuance or Adobe but being a county employee I’m limited to what I can use as they won’t provide the license for me to use at home (during this pandemic) & I don’t want to spend on something I won’t use much for private use.

So u know why when I drag my pdf to word it just show up some unknown code like an error type 😢?

Thanks Kevin. I was using a MacBook Pro today and for me I could not drag and drop and convert. However right clicking the pdf file and selecting open in word converted the file. I hope that helps anyone having trouble.
Kevin Stratvert, thank you for your informative instruction. I have a question about PDF documents. When I create PDF, it is because I want it to be Read-only and not editable. But with software to convert the document, is it possible to create a document that is NOT convertable. And not able to be edited by anyone. With software to make any document editable, that's a real concern for me. Thank you.

When I drop the pdf onto word, it doesn't display the correct message. It asks me to 'select the encoding that makes my document readable'. None of the options presented to me convert it into a readable document! Are these issues im having due to me still using Word 2010? Thanks

actually i really used this method a lot but just today i got a school assignment that had almost had pictures i used acrobat to convert the pictures to text than when i imported the pdf into word it gives me a stupid message , i even used acrobat's converter and many other document editors like wps,libre,pages,google docs and many others but none of them worked nicely , so kevin is thier any other way instead of doing the document with pictures ??❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓

PC only: this works fine for small docs like letters & one-pagers, but not for longer docs if you have to deal with them regularly. I tried a few recommended solutions, but none did a good enough job if you need a decent- or professional-grade end result. Apps I tested:
Easy PDF
I Love PDF
Icecream
TalkHelper
UniPDF
4 of these made a major mess of the end-of-line and hard returns-it's a pity Kevin didn't turn on the formatting symbols so we could see how those were handled. I Love PDF was the least worst, in case you're stuck needing to do this.
Luckily I've always been able to find an EPUB file of what I needed, which converts very well in Word with the use of a plugin called Wordmate.
