I have recently found your channel and already learned so many things by watching a few videos. Thank you so much for the great tips and I will continue watching and looking at your old videos.
We’ve successfully used the hot water method many times and are always amazed that they perk right back up. We wrap the blooms in paper towels to catch the steam.
Thanks for all the great information! I tried the boiling water tip that you gave on three of my hydrangea blooms that had wilted a bit after being in a vase for awhile. It is amazing how well that works! They look totally restored!
Grateful for this video. Over night my store bought bouquet went limp and wilted. Cut them as instructed. Put the stems in boiled hot water for 1 minute which opened them up, then soaked them in the water bath for an hour and they perked back to full bloom!
Thank you so much for these tips. They are very useful and I can’t wait to try them out later this year when my hydrangeas are in flower. Hugs from Melbourne Australia xx
How do you trim so all of your blooms are so nicely placed close together like that? I have a very large hydrangea, but the blooms are all over the place, and not in a nice cluster like yours.
I think I bought a total of 10 new hydrengea this year. I planted a hedge of them in my backyard. I'm looking for cityline mars and L. A dreaming hydrengea 😊 I'm OBSEESSSED
Lovely Hydrangea plants there. I've grown cuttings for Hydrangea, Hebe, Buddleia, Spirea & Lavender. Most of these are on my channel header and I made a new Hebe video which shows these cuttings on their journey into big shrubs/plants. Happy Growing :)
Hi Sharon! It's best to harvest hydrangeas for drying toward the end of the growing season when the blooms are starting to change in color and become papery. Different hydrangeas turn different colors as they are ready to harvest for dried production. Once the bloom has turned papery, turns color, and less moisture is present in the bloom, harvest the stems and remove all the leaves. Place in a vase filled with about 2 inches of water and let the water naturally evaporate. The hydrangeas will dry in the vase.
Thank you so much for the tips! What brand of hydrangea are the ones that were the blue that you featured the most. I didn't know you could re-hydrate and bring back the bloom!
Hi Danielle! When you change the water in your arrangements, do you continue to add flower food? Wasn’t sure if you feed them just upon harvest. Thank you! 🥰
GORGEOUS!!! Love your Blue and Purple Hydrangeas!! Mine are all pink because of our soil acidity being low.....I grew up in WA state, and they were always Blue there. It is such a lovely color! Did you condition your soil to change the color? THANKS!
I brought a beautiful blue hydrangea.. The shop told me to cut stem then spray the head of the flower! While this worked for the first day... The third day I sprayed the head again.. It didn't like it and has started to wilt so has the leaves!! Is it a case of you just do this once? Do you really spray the head with water!? as I was told this flower drinks from the top too! And lastly which of your water methods would save my expensive cut flower? Thks!
Hi! I have a hydrangea bush that looks so similar to yours! I’m not sure if you mentioned this but after I bring them inside in a vase will I need to spray them with any insect repellent?
Thank you so much
I’m taking a huge bundle for my son’s wedding I was so worried and after I watched you clip I feel so much better thank you

Isn't it amazing?!?! It's like a Hydrangea magic trick!
I tried this trick but I’m noticing that the stem turns a dark brown where it was submerged in hot water. Is that normal?
Boiling water? Wouldn’t that cook the flower?

Thanks for your tips how to take care cut hydrangeas. Can I make a wedding bouquet of hydrangeas? Please give me some tips?
Thanks for the tips 😁 would this pertain to lilacs also? My friend gave me some gorgeous ones and by the next day they were so sad looking 😣
What about care tips for potted hydrangeas?
Thank u so helpful
Does cutting the fresh hydrangeas ruin the plant?
Do you include any foliage in your bunches and what do you use. Love your videos btw.
Hi Ruth! Yes, I especially love forsythia and ninebark for foliage. Boxwood, abelia, witchhazel, beech, and viburnum are also great.
Thank you. What temperature should the water bath be?
How do you dry them?
Thanks

Hi Rachelle! It's Let's Dance Rave Hydrangea - www.provenwinners.com/plants/hydrangea/lets-dance-rave-reblooming-hydrangea-hydrangea-macrophylla
Can you please tell me why I'm only getting lush green leaves but bloom on only one branch?
Wow I had no idea it was such an involved process! Lol I’ll just buy the faux I think and leave my real ones on the plant 😂❤
if my hydrangea blooms have some dirt on them (from drooping branches), should I just gently wash the blooms in cold water after cutting?
So helpful
Hi Danielle! When you change the water in your arrangements, do you continue to add flower food? Wasn’t sure if you feed them just upon harvest. Thank you! 🥰
Yes. Continue to feed them. It will amaze you how long your blooms will continue to last.
What kind of food?
So after conditioning, I recut at an angle and vertically again, regardless of the use of the alum?
GORGEOUS!!! Love your Blue and Purple Hydrangeas!! Mine are all pink because of our soil acidity being low.....I grew up in WA state, and they were always Blue there. It is such a lovely color! Did you condition your soil to change the color? THANKS!
Hey there! I didn't - even our older big leafs are blue. Although one always seem to have two or three pink blooms on the plant!
@@NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens Thanks for your quick reply--as usual! Do you use wood chips for mulch? That will do it too.
@@Stauffer-fs8kz I do!
@@NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens Funny! Maybe I will have to mulch mine with wood chips too! ;)
pH low: blue blooms
pH high: pink blooms

Wow thanks for the great information. Do you ever encounter insects in your flowers?
Hi there! Yes I do. I usually turn the blooms upside down and give them a gentle shake and the bugs fall out.
Thank you,for your nice and beatiful explaintion. Love it💕💗 betty from lsrael. Jrusalem💝
What is your favorite varieties for cutting? I want to plant one or two but I don’t know which one to choose
Thanks for this helpful info. I have a few hydrangea flower cuttings given by a friend, don’t know how to keep them longer in my vase.
A florist trick is to cut stem as you show then place hydrangea in about 3 cups of water with 1 T of alum powder mixed in
Thank you !
🍎🍍🍊🍑🍇🍒🍅👍👍👍
I tried the boiling water and they all turned brown. 😔 Better to test this on one flower before you do it to your whole bouquet.
