@@AudioPhile Yeah, The Stanley Parable is pretty hilarious. However, you may want to hold off on buying the game as there's an Ultra Deluxe version of the game coming out this year. I mean you can just buy the original game on Steam of course, but I'm waiting for the Ultra Deluxe edition to come out and this time not watch any videos until I've seen just about everything I can find.
You should do another episode of game punishements for cheating! I was actually surprised you didn't include Gruntilda (from Banjo-Kazooie) literally deleting your save if you cheat too much...

How about Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP? That game has many time and date based events, and if you cheat by changing the time and date on your computer, the game will say you've completed 99% of it when you finish it.
I actually can't believe you included Heretic, holy smokes. That game's an absolute corker! One that I would've included is in Portal. Trying to cheat to the finish in one of the challenge chambers puts up a big red message on screen saying you cheated, and invalidates your attempt.
if ur playing around in the serious room, does that make it not-serious since you're the only living thing in the room? (if u wanna get all science on me, go ahead, but just dont be rude mk?)
A more obscure title from the '90s did something similar. Crusader: No Regret by Origin was the sequel to Crusader: No Remorse. In the first game, the code to enable cheats was "jassica16" but it was changed in the second game to "loosecannon16." Entering the code from the first game in No Regret would display the message "Of course we changed the cheats" and warp you to a secret level where you'd be surrounded by 8 copies of the final boss. It was still possible to beat them if you ran around them in circles so their shots weakened each other, and then finished them off. However, once you won, your character would freeze in place and explode in flaming gibs, as if you'd been killed by a rocket launcher.
***** Yay you answered! I don't really have inspiration for a question so I'll ask this: What do you like more: cake or pie? And what flavor? :) Or Which easter egg is your all time favorite?
The Undertale "Dirty Hacker" ending isn't actually an ending. It's a bug. Nowadays, (primarily since the mid 2000s), games that primarily utilize text like visual novels or RPGs typically have safety nets for error-handling that have in-game messages stating that you've just found a bug and need to report it, other games such as Persona 4 notably included such messages in the cute and creative fashions that Undertale did. The hackers aren't stumbling upon a secret ending, they're just finding a game-ending error, and the game itself is displaying it's typical error-handling message for just that sort of situation.
It's a ridiculous punishment btw . Players are not hacking the game's code neither entered some code to win some unfair advantage . Don't know what went through the brains of the devs in that situation but they really dropped the ball on that one
In A Hat in Time, you can enable cheats in any level at any time, except for any Death Wish . Trying to enable cheats there will damage you one point and the console calls you out.
Goggles Tigerkhan Only Undertale had the REAL cheat punishment in this video. All others are using button input codes the developers purposely put into the game. I don't consider those punish worthy cheats.

The Serious Room in TSP is more funny than anything else. Also, there's more dialogue if you try to activate server cheats two more times. However, any attempts after that will just result to you being alone in the Serious Room as the Narrator went off to find and buy a more "serious" table as he believes that's why you keep attempting to activate server cheats as the table's not "serious enough".

If you play Perfect Dark with cheats you unlocked on during missions mode, you are called a Dishonorable Agent and classified as a Cheater when you complete 1 level and you do not progress until you run the level again without cheats.

I think the "error handling message" thing at around 6:38 is actually a reference to Paper Mario. Stryder7x did a video recently called "this message should not appear" which will make the game to display text similar to the "error handling message" in the Japanese version of the game. His video is more in depth. Check it out for more info.
unlimited health in classic ff made it where all enimes can cast death and when your characters die they can't be revived because there regestered as still having max health.
My sister had that harvest moon game when she was a kid... but we had a faulty fuse box in our house, and having the stove and the dishwasher on at the same time, or if the hot water tank kicked on, the breaker would blow, and the power would go out... so many times she had to see Resetti. At least 4 times a day. The worst he did was restart the Gamecube which was good!
In Star Trek: Tactical Assault for the DS, every time you entered a cheat code on the main menu, a red dialog box would show up that said "CHEATER! You have unlocked all ships/missions/etc" next to a picture of a Bat'leth and a voice would say "What, you can't play the game without cheating?" Pretty sure that was the only bit of voice acting I ever came across in that game, now that I think of it.
Curious about 2 things now guys (if anyone knows the answers): 1. With the Stanley Parable do you simply get left in the room indefinately till you start again? 2. Is it possible to kill that monster boss thing that spawns for the Witcher? I don't own either of these games but I'm curious about it now. XD
I don't know 2 to be honest, but for 1 the answer is yes. You stay in there until you reset. However, if you type sv_cheats 1 *again* while in the serious room, you get even more dialogue, something James didn't find out.
"The Boundary Punishment" - Boundary Punishments are to stop the player from breaking out of bounds of the entire games map, when this boundary punishment zone is entered the player is given limited time or in some cases instant death if they step over this boundary. Examples include but are not limited to: subnautica, PREY, Jak And Daxter, Jak, Daxter, Star wars dogfights, even nintendo 64 games had boundary punishments.
You missed the part that in The Stanley Parable, if you activate server cheats again, you are put in a more serious room.
Yeah I cut it from the video, as there were two more conversations, I thought the video was getting a bit long :)
***** I just thought maybe it would have been good to just mention it then go on, but that's your choice, not mine.
This is the most serious table.
Well, it's the same room, just as serious as ever.
a serious room comes a serious table
There's more dialogue for the serious room is you do "SV_cheats 1" while in the room

In sims for the DSi if you changed the time then opened the game and played before changing the time back and opening the game, your town is overrun with aliens, the hotel is covered with dust and out of power, the concierge guy also yells as you for "time traveling"
Undertale?
Yes :)

I think the "error handling message" thing at around 6:38 is actually a reference to Paper Mario. Stryder7x did a video recently called "this message should not appear" which will make the game to display text similar to the "error handling message" in the Japanese version of the game. His video is more in depth. Check it out for more info.
it's similar, but not exact.
+RectifyPlays Bro, as much as i like Stryder and paper mario, that game did not invent error handling messages
unlimited health in classic ff made it where all enimes can cast death and when your characters die they can't be revived because there regestered as still having max health.
Undertale song !!!
MATHANABA Earthbound > Undertale

In Star Trek: Tactical Assault for the DS, every time you entered a cheat code on the main menu, a red dialog box would show up that said "CHEATER! You have unlocked all ships/missions/etc" next to a picture of a Bat'leth and a voice would say "What, you can't play the game without cheating?" Pretty sure that was the only bit of voice acting I ever came across in that game, now that I think of it.

If you type any of the DooM cheats in the original DooM 3 on the PC, you get a message saying that "Your memory serves you well."
Nice! I'm actually putting together another episode right now, and might very well include this.
Eh... if they're all konami codes then I'm bored.
Yeah, but they arent :V!
Good lord. Watch past the 2:30 minute mark next time.
I'm so happy you included Heretic. it totally happened to me the first time I played it.
DO I HEAR UNDERTALE MUSIC!?!

The Easter Egg Hunter DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH I'll stop
Curious about 2 things now guys (if anyone knows the answers): 1. With the Stanley Parable do you simply get left in the room indefinately till you start again? 2. Is it possible to kill that monster boss thing that spawns for the Witcher? I don't own either of these games but I'm curious about it now. XD
I don't know 2 to be honest, but for 1 the answer is yes. You stay in there until you reset. However, if you type sv_cheats 1 *again* while in the serious room, you get even more dialogue, something James didn't find out.
Sigh, this comment section -.-
Welcome to TH-cam, well 90% of the internet honestly
Let me cheer you up! Hi :D
If you activated the cheat to always get a perfect in dances in Spore Creatures, the game will label you as a cheater at the end of every dance.

I'm sorry James but you ruined the video with the Undertale music.
Earthbound > Undertale
TheMarioManiac you do realise that Toby Fox made the Earthbound music too right?
