    Eren is not getting the memories from a future inheritor. His future self is sending memories back to Grisha, and present Eren is seeing those memories through Grisha’s memories. That’s why he reacted so strongly when he kissed Historia’s hand. He accessed all of Grisha’s memories, including the ones that were sent by his future self. So from that point forward, Eren has essentially known the future (not the entire future, but the parts of it that his future self thought he needed to know for events to go accordingly).

    Eren whispered in Isayama's ear and told him to write this story
    On a serious note, it's really scary how Grisha, someone who was so anti-Marley and pro-Eldia, saw one glimpse of Eren's plan and was like, "Zeke. You have to stop him." Despite Grisha's hate for Marley and how far he was willing to go, even HE thought his plan was too far. He was genuinely horrified. Whatever Eren's plan is, Grisha does not want it to happen.
    Speaking of, Zeke and Grisha finally getting to work out their issues and hug each other in a moment of pure love is really heartwarming. Grisha understood his mistakes when raising Zeke before. Instead of only treating him as a tool, he treats him as his son. Zeke is finally able to take his first step towards closure after years of trauma. Even if they had their differences, Grisha and Zeke can at least agree with one thing: Stopping Eren.

    Quick spoiler free FYI: Grisha is saw all these memories of them seeing "his" memories, through Eren's eyes, due to the Attack titan's power. Anything that Eren sees in these scenes, his dad has memories of from Erin's perspective. That's why a lot of times, you'll see that Erin is standing behind Grisha's shoulder, so that he doesn't see things he wasn't "supposed" to see. He really did see Zeke in the house basement, due to Eren being there to give him the memories of it. "Future" Eren was the one regulating which memories Grisha, teen Erin and adult Erin could see. That's why teen Eren was so revolted when he kissed Historia's hand and had flashbacks to the church basement, because he had finally seen that HE was the reason why his dad murdered them all. To sum it up, the type of "time travel" happening is known as fixed timeline (there's also dynamic timeline and multiverse timelines). Fixed timelines tend to have a lot of bootstrap paradoxes, where the event is the cause and the cause is the event.

    It's more likely that Eren is the last attack Titan. He even says, I am who I've always been, meaning he hasn't been manipulated by anyone (future attack Titan). He is the last attack Titan, he's the one manipulating the past holders of the titan. The founding Titan is stuck in the past by the memories of King Fritz. The attack Titan seeks freedom by the memories of Eren

    22:55 To go more in depth on what Nicole briefly said about Eren being sick at his father killing the children, it was that he was actually upset at his dad not having the willpower/courage to take the founder and accomplish his mission. From that moment of touching Historia’s hand in S3, Eren has been slowly but surely working his way up to where he is now, manipulating and pushing his dad past the point of no return, to “fight” for everything he stood for. Another bonus is that some fans have a theory of when Eren pointed to the other side of the sea in S3 and asked if they kill all their enemies, they could be free, Eren wasn’t actually asking Mikasa and Armin, he was asking himself from Season 4. I know this is a lot of opinion from a random fan, but I hope this clears things up. Love your reactions as always 🤗

  • @Lazer-bp9lf
    @Lazer-bp9lf 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    In case you guys didn't understand the time travel concept of Attack on Titan shown in this episode, here's a brief overview on how it works.
    AOT operates by a particular type of time travel where it's almost impossible to change the past even if you somehow go back in time. And any change that you tried to cause was always meant to happen in the overall timeline. Here time is a fixed circle, not a stream. We may see Eren meddle in the past but that was always meant to happen. This calls into the question of the existence of free will in the world of AOT.
    The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future inheritors. This was hinted when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. Keep in mind, they can only view these memories but can't interact with them. So how was Eren able to meddle in the past?
    Well, he had 3 perfect conditions:
    1) He had the ability of the Attack Titan
    2) The ability of the Founding Titan
    3) He was also in contact with someone with royal blood AKA Zeke.
    After Zeke tapped Eren's head, they were able to view Grisha's past memories with Eren using the power of the coordinate. They were freely able to view the past as if it were through a one way mirror.
    Now if Eren had any other Titan other than the Attack Titan, he would only be able to look. But since Attack Titan can see forward in time, Grisha can use this to see Eren's recollection of the same event that he's currently experiencing in real time.
    So this means that whenever Grisha can see or hear Eren, he's actually recieving a brief future memory from Eren's POV where he can see out of his eyes and hear his words. That means he is seeing himself from a 3rd perspective. Then if he responds, his response is simply part of the memory that Eren/Zeke are viewing, allowing for a two way communication through time.
    All of this literally blows away my mind every time I read and see it specially that last part. Isayama is truly a genius coming up with all of this.

  • @areebederci

    Another great episode guys.
    These last few episodes have been some of the craziest episodes I've ever seen. So I'm really excited to see you reactions to the remaining episodes. Can't wait.
    When Eren said in the memories, he is no longer brain washed, it wasn't to trick Zeke. He was being honest. Because Zeke kept saying that Eren was brainwashed, and trying to prove that. So Eren just was be straight forward with him, that he understands, he is no longer brainwashed.
    Same with the "disgusted" moment. He was disgusted by his father's inaction, and him being weak enough to not go through with the plan.
    Eren was always telling the truth, but not the whole truth. Because he wanted Zeke to lead him to the point where he would force his father into killing the royal family.

    The reason why Grisha can see Zeke and not Eren is because Grisha is looking through Eren's memories. Whenever Grisha saw Zeke Eren was standing right behind him facing Zeke. Also the reason why Grisha looked so freaked out while leaving the house is because he was looking at himself through Eren's vision.

    From what I understand, Eren doesn't really knows everything that will happen next, he only knows what the next Attack Titan or his future self allows him to see, so if the future Eren doesn't want to spoil the end of the show he can just block those memories to the Eren we see now. That's why Grisha helped him, he thought his wife was going to be saved because Eren didn't share her death.

    • @GerblerM
      @GerblerM 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well no, kinda. It's not "allows". People keep getting this weird assumption that the Attack Titan can send memories - it can't. Grisha in this episode saying "why won't you show me everything" isn't literal. People need to remember that he's an unreliable narrator, he's just viewing things from his perspective. All the Attack Titan can do is see memories (just like every other titan) except it goes both ways. Eren isn't sending memories, just like Grisha never sent memories to his younger self, or Eren Kruger didn't send any memories -rather just like any other time, memories just arise in the mind of the person experiencing them.
      The reason that people see what they do is not because of some 4d chess being played, rather it's the only logical way for the events to unfold as they do. The AoT universe is causal and predetermined, and what we are seeing is the only way things could have played out.

    • @NanoMp40
      @NanoMp40 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GerblerM Well, I don't know if you have more context than me (I didn't read the manga yet). But that seems like an assumption just like what I said. All we know for sure is that the AT can see both past and future.
      But aside from that we don't know how that works. I prefer to take what Grisha says literally because it can be a clue given by the author and it's better than just empty theories.
      I don't think it has to be seen as "seending memories", for me it's just like database shared by all but with some restrictions. You can think those restrictions are basically made by fate itself, that is pure luck, or what I understood from what Grisha said: if the conditions (like when Eren kissed Historia's hand) are made then a memorie could be seen but Eren has some control over his own memories.
      "Eren isn't sending memories, just like Grisha never sent memories to his younger self, or Eren Kruger didn't send any memories"
      The thing is that Kruger was caught off guard by Eren's memories, it looks like Grisha only knows about it because of Eren, and Eren himself only saw that kind of memories clearly (Not like the weird dream in ep 1) after kissing Historia's hand. So I don't think Kruger, Grisha or young Eren had the same kind of ability that actual Eren has.

      @@NanoMp40 So, I have read the manga HOWEVER everything I type in these comment sections is only using inferences and information that's been shown to the viewer so far, and is/was my interpretation of the events from back when the manga was airing - so no spoilers from me.
      Anyway, we're both taking Grisha at his word here - he truly thinks Eren is sending him memories, but we have no reason to believe that Eren is. We know Titan shifters can experience memories of other users, we've seen it plenty of times before - so when Grisha tells us that the Attack Titan can do that, but also for the future, it's not a big leap. What is a big leap, however, is thinking that the Attack Titan, can't actually see memories of the future, and has the power to send memories instead. For one, why would Eren be the only user to ever utilize its power? Why wouldn't Grisha send memories back to Kruger to save Dina, or to spare Fay? What I'm talking about is not empty theories, it's using the rules of the world we've been shown in order to understand what's actually happening.

    • @NanoMp40
      @NanoMp40 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GerblerM I wasn't trying to call your interpretation an "empty theory", sorry if i made it look like that.
      As I said, I don't think the it has to do with "sending memories". I think the best way to put my interpretation is as you said "Titan shifters can experience memories of other users" but some memories are restricted.
      Let's forget about the whole "sending memories" and think why Grisha didn't saw more memories. First thing is that if Grisha was able to see the future, that would probably only after getting the AT, why didn't he save his sister or Dina? Because he wasn't even connected to the memories of the AT. The only event that leaves me doubtful is Eren's dream at the beginning.
      On the other hand, I think Eren is "special" because he was able to touch Historia's hand (I don't know why Grisha didn't have the same thing with Dina) and that he was the only one that had the chance to get to Ymir and interact with a titan with royal blood. (Spoiler for the next episode) if I remember correctly Eren says something like "I needed you (Zeke) to travel through the memorias so I could communicate with our father", so I believe he isn't that special but he got the chance to make better use of the power because of the royal blood.
      Sorry if I wrote too much xD I get too excited talking about this anime

    • @GerblerM
      @GerblerM 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NanoMp40 Oh no, for sure, I didn't take it to be offensive or anything, I was just more trying to say that I was leaning more on what the show has shown us in the past, since both the statements Grisha makes ("the AT can see future memories" and "Why didn't you show me everything") are put at odds with one another.
      I think you're right in that basically the memories of all Eldians exist in the paths - and becoming a titan shift opens your ability to experience those memories to a degree - I'd also say that I believe the reason why Grisha wasn't able to access memories with Dina, was because he wasn't a Titan at that point, like you mention.
      But yeah, reading through the rest of your comment, that's basically how I understand it to work as well - Eren isn't sending anything, it's more that he's uniquely positioned to create specific memories in his own mind, by exploring his dad's previous memories thanks to Zeke+Ymir (as confusing as that sentence is, lol). That way, when his dad's Titan ability manifests, those experiences are available to be remembered.
      I think the big distinction that I'm making is more that nothing is deliberate on Eren's part, so far as like... a "plan" goes. I think he's just along for the ride, because it's been preordained, and the previous users of the Attack Titan just so happened to remember the things that they did because it was the only logical way for the end result to happen. I think what the Attack Titans remember are semi-random (except for the triggered stuff), just like real memories you or I have. Like much in the same way that all Eldian memories exist in the path, my brain has a HUGE amount of memories available, that I just have no access to at this moment - but sometimes, seemingly for no reason, I'll think about a day I had in highschool, or remember a song I used to love. I dunno how to wrap up what I'm saying in a neat bow, but hopefully that made a bit of sense as to what I mean.

    React Pack, post the next episode *right now!* xD
    I'm not 100% sure if someone fully explained the seeing Eren/Zeke bit, but from the first time in the basement, Grisha only sees what Eren wants him to see through his perspective. Aka a third, but live perspective.
    It's like imagining someone running a race with one of those GoPros strapped to their back looking at that persons back/infront over their head. Imagine Eren is the GoPro, it's a third perspective once it's passed through to Grisha.
    So in the basement (and any other time this happens) you'll notice Eren is standing behind Grisha. Grisha is seeing what Eren sees/says. In the basement Grisha is seeing himself, and the older Zeke, from Erens own eyes. Same with when Grisha is holding the key at home, he knows Eren is there, because he's seeing himself basically.
    Something that's kinda funny to imagine is, he can't physically touch Eren or Zeke, as they're just *live memories* , so when he is hugging Zeke, Grisha is actually hugging thin air 😭 Hope that helps! :)

    This is the real Attack on Titan story. Eren's story. This proves that everything that has happened in the entire story is because Eren wants it to happen. They said that the Attack Titan has always marched forward, towards freedom. Sound familiar? That's Eren to a T. Eren is THE Attack Titan, and since the memories work from the future backwards, every previous Attack Titan has also been manipulated by Eren towards his goal of 'freedom'. That's why the Owl knows who Mikasa and Armin are. That's why the Owl saves Grisha and gives him his titan in the first place.

As far as eren being able to know how he acts in the future that is also possible because Grisha has those memories of seeing eren in the future. Perhaps they are getting at the Attack Titan being the proof of Ymir's will, her desire to want to bow to no one. It makes her waiting for Eren make more sense now.

    so basically Eren isn't the way he is because the attack titan seeks freedom
    the attack titan is the way it is because Eren ( who we presume is the last holder ) seeks freedom
    Basically Eren influenced the entire line of attack titan hosts up until the first one to reach this point.

    Eren was the son Grisha wished for when he was in Marley and Zeke was the son Grisha wished for in Paradis. Its crazy if you think about it...

    The fact that Eren’s actions are his own, and his not being manipulated, means that there’s no future Attack Titan inheritor After Eren.

    Small detail I love. Baby eren starts crying and wriggling around when Grisha picked him up. Eren wanted to be free.

    eren was disguested of grisha when the first time historia & her dad touched him in his back, he only saw his father killing them & eating the founder, but after a while when he kissed historia's hand, he saw what really happened (what about to happen as well) & he knew everything, so he went to that future step by step knowing everything

    Wren saw everything that was going to happen when he kissed historia’s hand. Remember she was a pure blood and that’s when he came in contact. So he knew everything that was going to happen already. That’s why he made the face after kissing her hand

    Just cause they see the future, that doesn’t mean they know what’s best.
