I watched your other video and TH-cam suggested this one. Well done, TH-cam. My experience with Amazon Spain has been positive, so far. You can have a package arrive the following day and it’s frequently faster than Fnac or Worten. As for doctor’s appointments… I’d love to say “How dare you say these horrible lies about our wonderful healthcare system?!”, but you’re absolutely right. It has been like that (or even worse) for decades. And, following the flag tip, you also need a Portuguese guitar on your collection back there.

1st advice, i think you can book online. 2nd advice, private insurance are very cheap and private hospitals work very well.

Nice video Rafael! :) I agree on the public health system in Portugal... It's disastrous😂 I once went to the ER in Lisbon public hospital and stayed there for 12 hours 💀 safe to say that now I'm happy to pay for private health insurance 😂😜

      Ciao Raffaella!!!
Thanks for coming to checking out the video 😁
But omg! That’s horrible! To have to wait 12 hours for the ER! I can totally understand why you would want to go private 😬
Although even with that said I’ve heard some horror stories about the private system as well… one of those things I keep going back and forth on

Had it not been for your family situation would you still have moved to Portugal?

    • @RafaelDiFuria

I’d always had it in the back of my mind that maybe one day it could be worth playing around with the idea to retire to Portugal. With the family situation plus how the past two years had been, the idea of something new after being stuck at home sounded attractive on top of being able to be close to family

I'm in Braga and I agree people here are sooo kind and helpful about the language.
There are also a lot of people willing to speak to me in Portuguese when I really want to practice. They are willing to repeat things, slow it down, and deal with my broken Portuguese until we understand each other. I am so grateful.

Healthcare is the one thing making me wonder if moving to Portugal is the best decision.
Lowskilled workforce Portugal can get with immigration. You will always have someone to serve your table, but when it comes to highskilled jobs, like the ones we have in the healthcare sector, then Portugal isn't the best place, becase pay is so low that even the natives are leaving, forget about bringing highskilled immigrants for healthcare.
Portugal being in the EU makes it even worse, because those professionals don't even need to sort out a VISA to immigrate, they can just go.
With higher population (due to immigration), more older people and the current workers in healthcare retiring, I don't see how healthcare in Portugal will continue functioning well.
They could increase pay for healthcare, yes, but remember that Portugal is already one of the countries with highest taxes in Europe. Increase it and people will begin to think about leaving Portugal.
The only solution I see is private healthcare. We will have many more people in Portugal depending on private. The ones who can pay for it at least.

Doctor appointments have been awkward since the pandemic. I’m still hoping it gets back to normal, as I haven’t seen my family doctor since before the pandemic. Back then I’d get an appointment every 6 months, twice a year. It’s now almost 3 years without an appointment.

How can an Egyptian who is not Italian have an attitude like that how abrupt and rude. In fact there
Is no excuse for anyone to use that kind of attitude. Thanks Rafael very interesting as always 👍

    • @RafaelDiFuria
      @RafaelDiFuria  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I agree it was rude, but at the same time in a strange way I can almost maybe understand where he could have been coming from. Going to a new country, learning the language and then another fellow foreigner comes in trying to speak English when you may have been pushed to speak Italian… I don’t know. It doesn’t totally make sense but I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt and try to laugh about it since it was such a strange interaction 😆

I've been looking at the stats and data and it seems as though more people are online on Sunday's than Fridays in a post "2020" world...
This is one of the reasons why I've been toying with the idea of switching things up.
