Toby Francis did a fantastic job of achieving this quality of sound. Best live sound I heard. I had the pleasure of meeting him in Manchester at the RHCP gig and discuss hifi amongst other things.
27:49 when you really feel Snow (Hey Oh) it’s achingly beautiful. It moves me so deeply in my heart. So sad, but beautiful, peaceful, moving, deep. So simple too. But just so beautiful - one of their finest, showing their sensitive side - so tender, melodic. Songs like this really bring home how unique and special this band is. It’s a song that seems to capture life and everything. The longing. The driving rhythm of the chorus. The dexterous guitar work, the melodic sensitivity of the bass, the lyricism of voice, the fluidity of drumming. Few bands can do this. So special.
Atlanta was phenomenal!! I last saw Frusciante on the Mother's Milk tour and he is hands down highly the most underrated and low key star of the peppers ,and for all the kids out there 60 years isn't old.
Great to see a band that puts (for many years now) maximum effort into producing high-quality studio recordings of great music and is then capable of backing it up with great live performances...so rare today.
Wow they sound just as good as ever. Not too many bands from their era still hold up. Glad i was a kid and teenager during their peak, such a great era for music, the whole early to mid 90s was amazing.
I'm 62 now. I fell for the peppers in the era BSSM cd . I missed Johnny F on guitar for a spell but he has seen the light. Thanks to Flea and the bands love...... Cuz c'mon yall isnt that what the RHCP's are all about is LOVE !!! God bless them ALL
When Californication dropped, I thought "Damn, the RHCP's are back!" but I didn't really follow the band so I didn't know why, only knowing that Navarro was no longer with them. It was years later before I figured out why. I didn't realize just how much John meant to the band. Most of the time losing a singer is the worst thing for a band, but losing John was close to that.
25 years sho I stood in the rainy mud on a school soccer field in Costa Rica and saw RHCP play to a small crowd, and I just saw them for the 5th time in LA.. nothing changed
this band is shamed on way too much, people love talking bad about them but there no other band doing this right now where they improv/jam the entire show every single night nothing is the same, such an awesome band
They are still kicking ass after all these years. The very few left from the late 80's-early 90's grunge band genre. U had Primus, Nirvana, these guys, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, and a handful of other bands grinding away in clubs and on the road. The last bands to have their music make it to the radio that produced revenue. Just before the Napster days. Now bands must be able to go on the road to make a living. Which is how I think it is the best way for everyone: band, fans, location the event is held. But next to Nirvana and AIC, these guys kill it.
Don't forget that Primus still sucks! Even to this day when they preform it's always a kickass show! 🙏 But I agree. Very few bands have stood the test of time like RHCP did. They are (in my humble totally unobjective opinion) the best band to have ever done it.
@@JD-od6jh I agree wholeheartedly, however I am a DeadHead at heart and the Grateful Dead stood the test of time without having but one song make it to the radio rotation in the 80's. It's too bad Jerry Garcia couldn't take a break from touring which led to the band's demise. Other than that you have the Stones, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Roger Waters. Unbelievable that the bassist for the Grateful Dead is still performing with authority at 80 years old. Unbelievable. His son is now in his band which you don't see too often. But how music history changed that day in 94 when Kurt Cobain was either offed by that crazy woman or figured out a way to off himself with his toe on the trigger of a shot gun. I know he was in pain but he was a new father to Francis Bean. I just can't square it. Anyway, his death changed the course of history for many artists, just as the death of Jerry Garcia. It's always the good ones that are taken from us too soon.
