The rhyme scheme of this song is insane! And it really makes you think of how much he goes through with all the hate. And I love when eminem is dark and evil but you gotta appreciate when he shows his emotional side! I love it.
I honestly think it's not just the hate, but to nearly the same extend the love he gets from his fans. It's of course a good thing, but it actually increases the pressure on the artists, wanting to do the very best they can to pay something back to those who support them. And being put on a pedestal when they're just as flawed as any other person on this world is also quite terrifying for people who didn't grow up with it. So for me, in this song he's trying to tell people that he's just as human as anybody, walks on ice but not actually on water - but he's still the guy who wrote "Stan", so they better give him the respect he deserves. (Basically, I was trying to agree with you and add a little bit. Sorry it got so long. Just ignore it)
Haha - it's pretty much my own reaction when I first heard this song. "I want to give him a hug" - yupp. Pretty much that. (Although admittedly, I first didn't like Beyonce in this, but I grew to love her voice here). Also same laughter when in the end, he says "yeah... but I'm still fucking great, so fuck all of you". It's a good song, very insightful and interesting musical-vise (at least for his genre) because he's only got the piano, nothing else in th background. No beat, no percussion - no snare. And the more I listen to it, the more roots it grows.
Ah... All the homophones, purposeful mid word breaks, and that in creases khakis pun. He is a genius. And all that while making a very personal song that shows his vulnerable side. Edit: I'd also like to point out the paper tearing sound in the background. It would be much easier to understand with the music video, not the lyrics one, but as you chose to go with the lyrics vid... It's him tearing failed pages of lyrics.
