🚩in this okara hamburger recipe we mixed little bit of brown rice and tofu for some extra soft and moist texture. the shiitake mushrooms and their shiitake dashi help to elevate all of the flavors together thanks to the power of umami.
🚩 as far as japanese hamburger steak sauces... there are many, off the shelf some of my favorites include tonkatsu sauce, chuno sauce, Worcestershire sauce or ketchup. have any that i missed?
🚩all you need to make this a complete meal is a bowl of miso soup, some steamed veggies and maybe a side of rice or roasted potatoes. oishisoona!
🚩in case you didn't know, because okara has a mild flavor (most was extracted in the soy milk), okara is one of the most versatile ingredients you can use in your japanese cooking.
🚩okara makes a great replacement for potatoes for example, or a filling for gyoza or korokke as well as hambaagu (japanese style hambuger). and even better, if you LOVE your baked goods like bread, cake, cookies etc okara is the perfect way to make each of those things more nutritious than they could ever be without okara!
🚩if you want more okara inspiration check out this video for more okara japanese recipes and inspiration (coming soon)

I lived in Japan for a year and loved "Hambaga". Now that I'm primarily plant-based I'm excited to try a plant-based version of this! :) I also make my own soymilk now, so It's good to see recipes that use okara. Thanks for your awesome recipes, I'm a new subscriber and have only tried your harusame so far. Delicious.

I used to make vegan chorizo, but i added ground seitan ,tvp and extra oil since chorizo is fatty .it was good with eggs, beans, burritos, tacos pasta, all that you can do with chorizo honestly. I foolish a lot of people with this recipe.

the more ideas we can get for okara the better. we make all of our dairy subs at home from soybeans and a jouyoung milk maker. so we have a ton of okara. I started throwing some of it out after a lot in the freezer and several large canisters of dehydrated okara. it's great as a protein powder but we can only use so much. these are very helpful. keep them coming.!!
