- Today, we go back to our roots and chase giant bluegill in East Texas. Tackle for the day was ultralight Quantum reels paired with a 10ft Mr. Crappie Slab Shaker. Crickets were the bait of choice. Thanks for watching!

I loved taking my Father fishing especially bluegills. My Father passed on May 16th after we got home from a great day of Bass & Bluegills. I'll never forget that day. Yes he out fished me. Thanks for taking your Father fishing.

I have found it hard to find nice blue gill like that anymore. As a kid we could go out and fill stringers of them
I say the same thing, i never caught these size gills
It's most likely they're on a private lake or pond that is not over fished

People loading up their boat with 30-50 big male spawners will do that. Lots of lakes are starting to adjust their size and bag limits because of this. The northern states seem to be catching on sooner than others.

I enjoyed watching you and your father catch those big bluegills. I love to fish for bluegills myself. I usually try to go fishing at least four days out of a week. I’m from Humboldt, Tn. There’s a few places around here to fish, but I go all over this area looking for big ponds or lakes that have giant bluegill like you were catching. Have a blessed day!! Keep catching them!!!

How do these bluegills compare to your saltwater fish, eating wise, like the redfish, speckled trout, flounder, sheepshead, mangrove snapper, etc?

Some advice from an old U.S. Army, Retired Sgt. from Texas. I listened to your voice several times at the beginning of this video. With a low-pitched voice like you have... you should definitely buy yourself a guitar, take guitar lessons, voice lessons and get into Country music just as soon as you can. Work to make it happen and you will wind up becoming very famous and very wealthy one day. You are blessed with a natural voice for singing Country music.

@@slayaoutdoors7959 All I am saying is try it and see what happens. It may be something you really enjoy and could be a very rewarding career for yourself. I could have done the very same thing when I was young but no one ever gave me any advice or help to become successful at anything. By the time I learned everything the hard way, mainly by doing the wrong things or by not doing the right things, opportunities had long past and it was too late then. You have the voice... so why not give it a shot. You can always do TH-cam on the side... or even at the same time while you pursue a singing career in Country music. Give it a lot of thought. You definitely have a gift with that voice.

Mark,to many people , keeping to many big fish has caused the the fish population to diminish in size ,the genetics of the big fish are gone !people dont realize to throw some big fish back ! Espescially big females.

We are about 35 minutes from Fairfield. We used to bass fish it a ton and bowfish tilapia, but honestly haven’t been out there much since they shut off the coal power plant. Fishing is still great, but all the tilapia died. Definitely some healthy bluegill out there. It’s a beautiful lake. Thanks for watching!
