The thing I always appreciated the most of this show was that Maou wasn't a fish out of water, he genuinely enjoyed and was proud to work at a fast food restaurant. He was a fish that found water.

Throughout the series his initial motivations for conquering the fantasy world were never actually explored, and you always got the impression there was something more behind it, though. That's one of the reasons I'm really sad it never got another series; seems like there was a really interesting backstory lurking in there.

I'm here again. I watched this Video a few weeks ago and now there is already a season 2 of the series.

What fascinate me about Devil is a Part-Timer is that aside from the Isekai deconstruction, it reminded me of how it felt starting to live independently and I think that resonated to a lot of people. Like, Alciel went from a Demon General to straight up a mom or Lucifer to a bratty free loader and did it naturally. The anime makes relatable jokes like paying rent organically.
The setup is downright genius because their current situation constantly complement the Isekai aspect without fully relying on it. You see a lot of Isekai anime that completely focus on the new world but since the "new" world in Devil is a Part-Timer is just our own, the cast becomes the charm of the show.
It's refreshing to see a cast of characters not being the typical weeb that gets to shine because of their JRPG knowledge or jokes. Maou and the gang completely feel like actual people.

A few years back, the Anime, Full Metal Panic got another season like nothing happened, over ten years after the last episode aired. They even kept a lot of the same voice actors. Now this show is getting another season over half a decade after it finished. This indicates that there is perhaps hope for almost any anime.

Despite it being a seasonal anime, The Devil is a Part-Timer resonates with me as one of the smartest written fantasy anime out there along with excellent chemistry and cast.
And just happens to be the perfect reverse-anime.
