I use impact sockets for everything now. I was going through 10-12 chrome sockets a year. Either wearing them down so they would slip or cracking them. No issues, even with the cheap impact sockets.
They do have lifetime warranty. I just had my 8 and 10mm ratcheting wrenches replaced as they were starting to jam up after about twenty years of abuse. No questions asked and I got the new and improved models. Really satisfied.
I'm a fledgling technician, I got a large gearwrench socket set (1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" with metric and ASE combined) that was probably the best $400 I ever spent. I also got their compact head 3/8" 90t ratchet, its probably the best 3/8" ratchet ever made and it only costs $40. I then got a 1/2" drive flexhead 24" handle 90T ratchet, had my coworker stress test it breaking some bolts loose and it was able to withstand him pulling down on it with his entire bodyweight. Also if you're curious, 120xp refers to the ratchet mechanism. 120xp ratchets have 60 teeth with a dual-paw design, making them a "120 position" ratchet. I haven't used any but I've heard some good things about them.
Can’t go wrong with any sockets as long as the warranty is good. 90% of my chromes, bit sockets, and impact sockets are budget brands. I got all different sets of turbo sockets off the truck and I wish I hadn’t. They’re exactly the same as you can get online with the same warranty. Life goes on.
I put a piece of cardboard behind that foam to keep sockets from falling out. I store mine on it's side in the back of my 4Runner and haven't had any fall out since putting the cardboard in.
To be honest I am starting to get fet up buying tools for underground. Most of my box is sunex gearwrench, knipex some milwaukee and Ir air tools. I am the only one that has 27mm to 36mm sockets. I am the only one with real deutsch crimpers, I have the only land cruiser wheel bearing socket. Everyone takes my shit without asking and stuff does not come back. The oem tech for our drilling equipment only has a multimeter in his backpack with what they are paying him he can afford tools.
I bought Proto and couldn't find the set I wanted, but you can get individuals on Zoro for about the same price per, so that's exactly what I did. I know that picker hated me, but I have every size and two 10mm. If I ever lose anything I know where to go too
I have a set of long ratchets from gearwrench, been happy with them so far. Had to add lube, they came dry, but thats fine. I'm also a 250 pound gorilla, so i tend to try being smart about not brutalizing my ratchets, wich makes them last longer 😂
120xp is two 60 tooth pawls. I've got these in flexhead that I've ran since 2017, once they get worn in they are smooth as butter. The 90 tooth Gearwrench are terrible, low quality, glad you avoided them in these kits. The 84 teeth are another treasure - 4 teeth away and interchangable with Matco 88.

That is great to hear. It's nice to know the warranty is good for life!

Gear wrench works well, I have also been impressed with Tekton tools. And their warranty is no nonsense

Lock up your tools to prevent people taking your stuff.
Ya I usually take the cheaper stuff on service calls you don't mind loosing on of them on the side of the road 👍😜🇨🇦🔧
What if you glue magnets on the bottom of the case?
I like Gearwrench tools but I think the 3/8" shallow sockets are a little to short

drill a hole and fill it with cavity foam
Of topic, why don't dealer techs file wage theft lawsuits?
Not 100% sure. But 2 states just made warrenty times illegal for flat rate pay. That's a good start in right direction
@@Lancemechanics Did they lower customer pay to meet warranty pay? I would not put it past these thieves.
Lance, do you have time to work on cars?
Not at this time. :)
