You are the FIRST youtuber that owns a damaged car, has the carvertical ad and actually shows the check on his own car. So I suspect all the other youtube salvage/shitbox/damaged cars had a green light in the app rendering it useless. Oh and I really love this project btw!
You're on a terrific learning curve and, at the same time, teaching us about the pitfalls involved in such a classy build. Btw, your wife's musical composition [?] accompaniment is wonderful
The ends to your cooling splice pipes should have a bead on the ends to keep the hose from sliding off when the cooling system pressurizes. I know you don't have a bead roller but a slight flaring of the ends would be helpful.
Someone else mentioned this. I have a manual bead roller, so that will be happening during the final build up. I just wanted to drive it before the end of the day!
I’ve called it “Landstone Martin” since the beginning. That thing is lovely, I might be doing a logo one day. One thing you should add is a snorkel breather, it will look so very sick with the rally storage in the back.
If you do a logo, we can make it into a badge! I think its cool name is ‘AMD-1’. But nickname wise…everyone has a different idea! A snorkel will be a fun idea 😎
@ “AMD-1” as the model? I was thinking of making the classic oval green with landstone martin inside, but i’m no professional. I sometimes make logos for props that me or my friends use in ttrpgs
Please don't use the ally tube in the cooling system without getting a bead rolled on the ends. The hoses could, and have, blow off and scald someone. I like the build by the way!
They will be rolled, mentioned this in the comments. But for this test there was no point. The clips were so tight and I was only testing for a short period! Glad you like it! Lots of fun to come :)
We had a Toyota corolla with no radiator and us kids took turns driving it until the headers glowed red and then letting it cool down. Never had a problem with it. Driving it for 1-2 minutes won't hurt much.
Good job. If you get a flat piece of wood. Cover the air intake up 3/4 way. It will pull all the air out the fuel system. You need a good air intake filter. Load up fuel tank with injector cleaner. And spend the extra on the good diesel. It make a big difference.
Thanks for the advice! How long do I hold the wood over? And absolutely with the fuel, I put good fuel in it today. Before that it was full of red diesel as it used to be on a farm!
@HudsonAutoFilms just a minute or two on the wood. It will purge the air out. Brink up revs. Don't use your hand or a tag. It will stuck it in. I'm talking when you get to Europe get diesel with cleaner in it. I run 53 year old Mercedes diesel engines. Makes a big difference. Make sure you got good clean diesel filter fitted. And get a couple of spares for trip.
Best solution is get a vacuum pump on the thing and pull it all up through the filters and pumps to the rail. I think these are common rail, if not do em one buy one. There will often be a specific method for some engines, turning it over a few times whilst suckiing to fill the hp pump is often it. And make surebthe pump only gets clean diesle as the HP pumps are orime source of failure and then the injectirs fail from the pumps breaking up. For some of the very best diesel advice check out dave banks, just watching his shorts is a goldmine on modern diesel knowledge. The standard oil sucker's for 40 50 quid. The flexible piping is find so long as you uses the right clips , not jubblies. You wouldnt believe how many people don't realise the standard tubing on cars needs sprung clips they leak because if the jubblies as they work loose. Also system over pressure isn't sudden failure but the sprung system will cause minor leaks, jubilees will take loads of pressure and then go bang when youve already overheated.
It really did! Felt a lot smoother as well. Next week will be fun. Then once that’s done, it’s time to take it all apart again! Have a lovely Christmas! Thanks for your support :)

one question I haven’t seen yet is: are you planning to re-gear the axles? would help everywhere but especially when you first start moving. kinda expensive though
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Great progress on what originally looked like an impossible task. Use some gravel cat litter and or cement for soaking up spilled oil. It looks like you are just spreading it out on the concrete floor.
Merry Christmas and happy new year!! It’s coming together now. Lots of fun ahead. I put the litter down today, it’s helped a lot. I waited until I knew the last of the spills had happened!

I really think your aluminium pipes need swaging on either end. Any kind of pressure and they will slide out. Also they look a little small for the size of the hose. Anyhow I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work. 👍
They absolutely do, I’ve got a beading tool so they’ll get the treatment during the final build up! Most of them fit well, but one was a little loose. I wish I could weld up something beautiful, but we’ll see! So glad you’re enjoying! Lots to come :)

A V8 is definitely coming! I always imagined testing it for the first year with the diesel. Mainly to shakedown the build itself under a lower power unit! Interesting. In the U.K. certain things aren’t tested if they’re not present at all. I used to have a car with just the one seat. So in the MOT notes it just said ‘tested with one seat’

Wait I thought that the whole reason to not alter the wheelbase was to keep it registerable ? If you do an EGR delete I don't think you will be able to get plates for it
Basically the chassis would render it illegal without question. The EGR would be linked to its emissions test. If it failed, then it would most probably be due to the EGR. At which point I’d have to get a new valve. But because it’s bolt on and off, I thought I’d try it and see how the test goes
An EGR delete on a vehicle originally fitted with one is not legal to delete it. If you can delete it in such a way that an MOT tester doesn't notice then it ussually won't effect mot emmisions
