This is a beautifully written song. It has that unmistakable Burt Bacharach style of writing. That pop/jazzy sound that he's known for in so, so many hits he's written for artists such as The Carpenters and others.
Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head." B.J. Thomas' “Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head” was the right song at the right time in the right film - the 1969 Paul Newman/Robert Redford blockbuster Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I watched the film when I was escape school in teenage. What a film and what a memory Thanks Harri .That was 50 years ago.
Harri great reaction to the late B.J, very underrated performer, check out "Hooked on a feeling ", you may have heard it on the movie Guardians of the Galaxy if you've seen it. This song is from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Take care kid.
This song's most famous for being in the '69 hit film, "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid", starring Paul Newman, Robert Redford, and the gorgeous, Katherine Ross. Watch it some time, it's terrific!
Ah, the memories of this song. My first jewelry box with the tiny ballerina who spins with the lid opened played this song. BJ lived most of his adult life in my hometown and we adored him. He passed away a few weeks ago from cancer. RIP BJ Thomas. I would suggest “Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song” and “Whatever Happened to Old Fashioned Love.” He also sang the theme song to a popular US sitcom called Growing Pains, “As Long as we’ve Got Each Other.”
Interesting you mentioned The Carpenters. The writer of this song, Burt Bacharach, wrote many of their songs including their huge hit "Close To You". As you say has that easy listening feel.
BJThomas was a favorite when I was a young teen. He has a greatest hits LP--"Hooked On A Feeling", "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry", "Mama", "Billy and Sue", and as you say, his voice is so fabulous. He struggled with heroin addiction and I think it sort of wrecked his life. He was all washed up at a fairly young age. Career was ruined. So unique, though. RIP.

B.J. was a great performer. I saw him twice -- once in my hometown and it was a big thrill. He had a lot of big hits and this was one of his very best. RIP my friend!
They used this song in the movie "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid." They mixed it with a song called "A Bicycle Built for Joy." A very cool version of this song. As always, Another great video, Harri.
This was written I believe by tthe great songwriting partnership of Burt Bacharat and words by Hal David whi wrote for Dionne Warwick plus many other great stars
Thanks for another excellent reaction, Harri! John Knox and David Roberts both commented on his hit "Hooked On A Feeling", and David mentioned the follow up version by Blue Swede. It would make an excellent video for you to react to two very different versions of the same song!! Cheers!!
OMG my first grade class learned this song to sing at a school program, that was more than 50 years ago and I still remember all of the words lol and I remember my Dad showing up for the program which was very unusual because of his work, he passed away 40 years ago but when I hear this song I think of that night and of him, pretty appropriate for Father's day, thank you...♡
This song from the Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids shows the deep friendship between Paul Newman and Robert Redford in REAL LIFE on how they get together for the show.
This song was huge when I was 14 or so. He had a few other hits and I seem to remember his being associated with Burt Bacharach/ Carpenters etc. Great old tune. 😊
Is this a Bacharach/David song? Believe so, BJ sang the most iconic version, but much covered by other artists. What a voice and what a masterful song writing duo.
When this record came out, it was everywhere. Reminds me of Summers in New York City. You'd hear an AM top 40 radio station on somebody's set, playing this song. Then of course it was featured in the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. B.J. also did a great version of "Hooked on a Feeling." I think he did the original but I'm not sure. You may get a kick out of B.J. on The Ed Sullivan Show. They actually poured water on him. Poor B.J. He was a good sport. th-cam.com/video/NRCDxcsbHWA/w-d-xo.html
I cannot express in the proper terms and depth how much I HATE this song......NOT because it's a bad song or anything like that at all.....it's actually rather a melodic moody beautiful piece.....but for years almost each and every morning I'd wake to my little sister upstairs.....plink plink plinking this out on the piano.....it drove me absolutely nutz. Now.....many decades later......having thankfully forgotten this torment.......the terror IS back!!!AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!....So.....if it once again lodges unmovable within my brain......and I go running through the streets with 5 AK-47'S.....killing 184 and wounding 457 .....IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!.......No.....I won't be doing that....but I sure as hell might feel like that if I hear any of it. I gave the vid a like......because you and your reactions are great.....but forgive me.....I WON'T be listening to a second of this.
Howdy, Harri! This song takes me back, man. You should dig into this stuff. Glen Campbell for example. I would suggest "Try a Little Kindness" by Glen. By the way, I am getting out of my adopted home of Nicaragua for home in California in 11 days after two years. I will be vaccinated on July 2. You can't imagine how far away I have felt. You're a great guy and I really enjoy these videos. They have made life a little nicer for me and I thank you. Cheers from the hot and steamy jungles of Ometepe Island. Salud ... To health, my friend.

It was in that movie that I fell in love with Robert Redford and BJ Thomas. I'm 59 now and I'm still in love with both of them! RIP, BJ Thomas.
Billy Joe Thomas (August 7, 1942 - May 29, 2021) was an American singer widely known for his pop, country, and Christian hits of the 1960s and 1970s.

"Hooked On A Feeling" and his version of Hank William's "I'm So Lonesome I could Cry".

A Bacharach song i believe, but BJ'S voice can bring a smile to.my face everytime.

Years later he did, "Everybody loves a rain song" that's also great. "Hooked on a Feeling" was another big hit.

Ok unfortunately he has passed away love BJ's music
Sad
Another great inspirational song to react to is Andy Williams -"The Impossible Dream"
Is this a Bacharach/David song? Believe so, BJ sang the most iconic version, but much covered by other artists. What a voice and what a masterful song writing duo.
Beautiful day to you Harri. Great reactions as always.
You gotta do his version of Hooked on a Feeling.
Keep those dancing ladies behind bars. The 60's, man. If it's in black and white, and they got that glittery cat's eye makeup, it's probably the 60's.
Great song, brings back memories of better days.
The Carpenter's cover of Rainbow Connection is awesome.
Another somebody done somebody wrong song. .my favorite song by him.
I remember Sasha Distel's version of this, a rather dishy French man, gorgeous song
RIP BJ Thomas
Some other songs of BJ Thomas were Mama, Rock and Roll Lullabye and Most of All.
Great tune.
Harri, to celebrate the first day of Summer, try Alan Jackson's... Summertime Blues. Also,
Mungo Jerry's....In the Summertime
Is it really the first day of summer?😀😝
Dee Clark of the 60s sang a great oldie song "Rain Drops". Check it out; I think you will enjoy this one.
Another Burt Bacharach composition
So... what about about my request, Sioily live by Wings?

BJ just passed away recently
Check out Hooked on a Feeling.
Soulful classic.
Herb Alpert trumpet ending. Perhaps a completely new direction for you to follow.
Unfortunately BJ passed recently/

You never know Stephen..One day you'll wake up..and its all love for the song

But we have all been there.Heard a song so much that you just cant stand it!
The go-go dancers seem kind of out of place for this kind of song!
