For the question of whether you can move a villager back to your island after they've moved away, yes you can! They will remember living there as well! As long as you grab her from Moth man when she is moving out she can come back to Molokai.
Is it different with amiibo cards because I got Apollo via an amiibo, moved him off and then used the same amiibo to get him back, and he didn’t remember being on my island the first time around ): 🤧😭

I currently have two Crankies on my island and I walked up to them in a tizzy together about who was the bigger sourpuss lmao They're just sitting there insulting each other and then they ask me who I like better, so I said I liked them both, and THEY STARTED WEEPING. 7:38 This has been proven to some extent, that if you kick out a villager it can kinda get stuck in this “queue” for another player’s next villager. It can happen with players that you interact with a lot. I kicked Quillson off my first island, and he showed up on my sister’s island after we’d been playing a couple times together. It can suck though, because that villager in question can automatically fill out a plot of land if there’s one open. My sister was not happy about that at first 😅. Think it happened with Marina, Madie and Tia though, all of which my sister was elated to welcome to her island

Ken was my first campsite villager in our island and even though he was never a dreamy of me and my sister, his coolness is what made us keep him.
I have moved villagers between my 3 islands tons and it's awesome because if you move them back to an island they have been on before they remember. And they totally have a dialogue about moving back!

Back when I was first playing Animal Crossing in Lockdown I stumbled on Reneigh during one of my villager hunts and instantly fell in love! And this was before I knew anything about the new or “popular” villagers. She is incredibly entertaining!
Also if you love drama I would highly recommend you play Fire Emblem Three Houses (and I would recommend Edelgard’s route) if that’s something you find interesting. I would love to watch your play through lol 😆

I had Apollo via an amiibo card and then a few weeks into it, I thought I wanted to replace him so I got him to leave. I instantly regretted that decision so I scanned him back in via the same amiibo card. He’s back and moved in, I just had to start from scratch with our friendship. It basically wiped all his memories and knowledge of me and him once being on my island before. It would be super cool if they retain any knowledge of prior visits or stays on the island but yeah. Other than that, he’s back!

It was the most traumatizing period of my life, being a kid and having to grow up so fast. 6 years later we are living comfortably, but this season makes me severely depressed. I just had Raymond finally move out out of my town and went on a villager hunt specifically for Ione, Sylvana, Sasha, Erik, Dobie, Wolfgang, Phoebe, Julian, Marshal, or Shino and found Ankha instead. Literally the one villager hunt I wasn’t looking for her, I found her. But now I have 4 Snooty Villagers: Diana, Freya, Vivian, and Ankha. Diana is staying forever but it’s going to be tough deciding between the other 3.
Ended up finding Marshal on the following hunt and Erik on Thanksgiving.
