Hi! This is my cover of Summertime, and I had tons of fun filming and recording this one. I hadn't gone on a carousel for a while, and I had to get myself to stop laughing so I could actually sing. Soon I'll post some of my own songs from this past year, and new covers. Enjoy and thanks!! :)

I started singing last year, and a few months ago my teacher, Anna Coogan, encouraged me to try recording and learn about the whole process of making an album.The very day after my 12th birthday, I had the opportunity to sing with the most incredible musicians in the most magical place (see below!). Most. Exciting. Day. Ever. I recorded these songs as a final project this year with my singing teacher and turned them into a "singathon" fundraiser for human rights. See www.canensings.com! you can only say it again and again, she has an incredible feeling and this feeling for music. It creates a unique atmosphere ... if you close your eyes on the song, you are somewhere else ... and then she was 12 ... incredible, awesome but ultimately just beautiful.

Amazing videography. It is hard to believe that this carousel exists, almost as if the girl, the carousel, and time just came together for this song. The concept of slowing down the music with this arrangement in a sultry summer foggy afternoon seems almost too coincidental to be true and possible.

I like George Benson’s uptempo singing of this song (have you heard?). Your use of bluenotes, which is very smooth, has something in common. Were you 12 at this vid? You surprise many people. Keep on doing it.

When you sing .you get the attention . Of above and beneath you. It's overwhelming not underwhelming. Everything I wrote in praise before does apply to this amazing voice and her interpretation of this Jazz classic, but I am not keen on those videos where Canen is firmly set into her child/teen years. Some see that as ambiguous, especially where the song is definitely adult, and therefore it detracts. Please put her at home or in the studio behind a microphone, rather than miming the words from a swing or round about horse or else dream walking with an emphasis on her childhood attire...
