What kind of spiritual insights might we receive when we realize that this humble, righteous and long suffering man was diagnosed with the cancer that would one day take his life after a long road of ohysical suffering, only a few months after giving this talk.

And you used the primary colors.
Red is for courage to do what is right,
Yellow for service from morning till night.
Blue is for truth in our thought and our deed.
    Love ❤ it

Living the commandments has the benefit of avoiding unnecessary trials and consequences. Obedience to the Gospel teachings allows and affords individuals and communities to be blessed. Avoiding sinful behavior should be followed by acts of self-improvement and kindness to others. The preoccupation in good pursuits in the Lord's way brings joy.

Such poignant and persuasive words, shared with great power and clarity, behold, a man of God!: Earlier this day, I heard of his beginnings in a foxhole in Japan promising to spend his life in the service of God, if he were spared and oh how God foresaw his gifts, those of Elder N A M!
I'm not ashamed to be associated with this talk or with this glorious soul or with the many that he referred to, particularly, Brigham Young. What a privilege it is to associate with these called and chosen ones.
I particularly enjoyed Elder Maxwell's simple yet powerful thoughts on charity and faith and really even though he didn't use the word hope as he discussed patience which I refer to as expectant patience or in fact hope. The hope which is ours also, of a completeness or a fullness of joy which God Himself knows and enjoys, wow!

I believe it is important to contemplate every day, if we love our Savior.
The reason is because, if we love Him, then we can take it a step further.
How do we show Jesus Christ we love Him?
We can remember the words said in John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
We can even take it a step further, by saying, which master do I serve, because we cannot serve two masters.
After we make a decision of which master we do serve, hopefully Jesus Christ, then we can say I love Him, I choose to serve Him, so because I love Him, I will keep His commandments.
Of course we'll never be perfect.
When we do everything we can to show our Saviour, we love Him, then He will save us through grace and mercy.
I think if we look within our personal lives, we can say honestly, we must walk the walk, instead of talk the walk.
Oftentimes people say, I love you, and then do everything opposite of this meaning.
In other words, when someone treats us this way, we can say to ourselves, this person's words are close to me, but their hearts are far from me.
This too is exactly the same for Jesus Christ, or He wouldn't tell us to keep the commandments, in order for us to demonstrate our love for Him.
In our personal life, when someone says they love us and does the opposite, we would call this hypocrisy, the same applies when it comes to Jesus Christ.
Keeping the commandments removes the shades of gray, and shows us the path to righteousness, how to overcome our trials and tribulations by surrendering to the Lord, and becoming more full of joy, hence the reason why our Savior tells us to keep the commandments.
Another thing to contemplate once this foundation has been established, is to consider, why the wheat and the tare will be separated or divided?
It is because one chose to serve and keep the commandments of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the other chose to follow Satan's plan.
After we contemplate this, we can then decide if we are going to be the wheat or the tare.
As we know, wickedness never was happiness, Jesus Christ came to earth, to atone for our sins, and die on the cross for us because He is our friend, and wants us to live the plan of salvation, in order to return back to our Father in Heaven.
If we think about the great atonement as well as Jesus Christ, dying on the cross for our sins, then why would we not want to keep the commandments?
We would be contradicting what He had commanded us to do in John as well as other verses in the Bible, which is to keep the commandments, if we love Him.
Jesus Christ of Nazarene, provided a way for us to repent, so we can continuously strive to keep the commandments, and find joy, instead of misery.
How do we avoid misery and becoming like Satan, we keep the commandments, because we love Jesus Christ and His sheep.
We also need to remember that this is a line upon line and precept upon precept process, to do things in order, and be patient with ourselves on this journey of returning back to our Savior and Father in Heaven.
