This interview has been eye opening, are Mormon leaders really this humble? He has something I want. Humility and peace.
Every single one of them are that humble. Each of them is called to serve in leadership positions and do so without any compensation, even the president of the church.
If you have Joseph Smith in your banner and rename the most historical building in Salt Lake City as 'The Joseph Smith Memorial Building', like president Gordon B. Hinckley did, and you don't know the early history of Joseph Smith and the LDS-church in the full content you have to be informed about the aforementioned early history. The Lord God shows us our weaknesses so that we may be humble, in other words, the teachings of God are the source of this humility. Regarding other religions he said, "Bring all the good that you can and let's see if we can add to it". I'm not mormon but that has left a beautiful impression on me.

Gordon B. Hinckley is the pinnacle example of man. I love him and am so thankful for his existence.
What a joke. The church is a greedy pig, bloated at an estimated $150 BILLION, yet ol’ Gordy here acted clueless at Larry King’s (absurdly low) claim of $5.9 billion. They lack transparency and lie to their own members, dramatizing how much charity they do with their vast wealth. It’s shameful!

I'm humbled to say that I met Gordon B. Hinckley in person. It was at the dedication of the Detroit Temple, and the ceremony, which I had watched from the Stake Center next door, had just ended. I hopped the tall red fence and snuck past security because I was determined to see him as up-close as possible. As someone who grew up in Michigan, I can tell you, those winters do not mess around. It was cold out there. But I was determined, and my determination paid off. He came out of the doors in a pure white suit, with a winter jacket over the top. First, he spoke to a little girl, remarking on how much red she was wearing, which got a good laugh out of her. Then he walked up to my sister, who had joined in my ninja acrobatics to get up to the entrance, and told her in a sweet, grandfatherly tone how pretty she looked, and shook her hand. Then he got to me, asked me how I was doing, and shook my hand. The moment his hand touched mine, my entire body felt warm. I hadn't been expecting that in the least, but it was completely real and I could not doubt what I was experiencing.
I felt the presence of God through a living prophet. It's an experience I'll never forget.
I'm so jealous! I got to see the prophet once at a conference. When I saw him for the first time the spirit didn't just testify to me that he was the prophet of God but screamed it! I look forward to the day when I hopefully get to shake a prophets hand and thank him for his service.

2, Only try to be honest with yourself. If you try to be honest with others, you will get into big trouble soon or later.
3, Aim only one target at a time; otherwise you are chasing two rabbits and you will miss both. So, the reason behind it. Have one powerful reason and never ever give up the one you want the most.
4, Don't try to be good person only but be the powerful person. We will grow to be the one or we will die. There is no other choice.
5, Always learn and look for to improve something your life.
6, You are not alone. Love and faith the high power reduces unnecessary stress in life. But never completely rely on it.
7, Success and happiness are the byproducts of our usefulness. So, always increase the possibility of success.
8, Life is not going to be easy. Because of our unnecessary things. Eliminate all the unnecessary things as much as you can by organising yourself well with the environments.
9, Never believe anything without the proper evidences.
10, Always try to give more than you take.
Because it is dignity/ character of the divinity within you.
🌎 As long as people continue to see themselves as separate from everything else, they lend themselves to being completely enslaved. Success depends on how well we relate to everything around us. Joy comes from that bliss of connectedness. I believe that unarmed truth and love will have the final word in reality. To love; you should have good heart. I am a good person until I see a person better than my standard of goodness. Being good is the progress towards a worthy cause. Love is God. Whoever lives in love, lives forever. How selfish it is to try to keep something forever? Love is all about nourishing, nurturing, sharing and expanding the love within you for all. The principle to which we adhere to is that we have kindness of love at heart for the whole of mankind. As long as there is the unnecessary differences within us; we can not live peacefully so we have to eliminate all the unnecessary differences among us so we can love all. People abilities may vary but not there true love. If we love a person/ God for a reason then we love the reason but not the person. No reason is the reason to love the person because true love never fails. So do not compare or measure the true love as first or the last but love all truly. If you love people truly then you can understand people. If you don't love then you don't understand people at all.

The Cyclical Consumption is the current economy all over the World. It is making the scarcity problems of the earth finite resources to deteriorate day by day. Current Monetary System is legalised theft. Real money is Gold and Silver. Scarcity gives the money more value. Real money won't lose it's value. When Governments stay away from Gold & Silver then very easy to transfer the wealth / resources to upper class the Rich (Corporatocracy) Elite. When the Governments are printing out more new fiat currency with reserve banks, our old currency is losing its purchasing power everyday. They are printing millions of currency everyday. All governments and laws are existing right now to transfer wealth to upper class the rich elite. The USA Government & other Governments are in many countries, bailed the investment banks & financial institutions in 2008 against the majority of the people. There is no democracy in any countries. Because of the Money System based on profits motive only above all else even humans lives and well-being. So, we do not have freedom to protect our values with the money so on. The violence, bankruptcy & all the negativities are build into the Monetary System of our society. All are owned (including ourselves) by Reserve Bank. Which is private cartel the corporation. So, in legal system, we are legally considered as chattel the properties. They make money in the capital markets with our birth certificates. They do not consider us as Humans. That's the truth. Truth About Health/Drugs Industry Because Of It Your Life At High Risk The drug industry is a 1/2 trillion dollars a year worldwide conglomerate. Almost 300 billions dollars just in North America. That is really big business. What would happen if everyone were well? There is no money in health. You see, good health makes a lot of sense but it doesn't make a lot of dollars. Because everything they do is toxic. Every drug they use, prescription drugs, all drugs are liver toxic, bar none. If you've had amalgam fillings put in your mouth by dentists. It is highly toxic. There's cancer because most of the chemos are themselves carcinogens. To view the tumor as the cancer and we know the tumor is not the cancer. The cancer industry is 200 billions dollars a year. 😊 Well, I truly love God. I am not religious but very spiritual person. So, I believe 1) Religion is the beliefs in someone experiences But spirituality is having my own experiences. The mainstream religions people promote religious ideology by giving guidelines and guide but In my spiritual life; I do not want anyone or anything between God and me to restrict my freedom to worship God. 2) We do not need any authorities to do good work. The god work is the good work always. In contrast; organised mainstream religions are claiming that they have the authorities to do God works as leaders so on. 3) God is not capable of doing wrong thing, change the past for us and create anything out of nothing for us. Nothing means not anything. So, even God is limited. The mainstream religious people believe that God is unlimited. 4) God wants us to take responsibilities for our righteousness life but not for all the consequences of our actions because they are continued to exist among us. So, How can god punish us for all our consequences? The mainstream religious people believe we are full of sins because of all our actions. 5) Freewill is an illusion. People always choose the perceived path of greatest pleasure. So, we do not have choices all the time. In contrast teachings of the mainstream religions are promoting people to do god's will always because we all have choices of freewill always. 6) We can not separate everything into groups. So, everything for good and evil and there's no success and failure for everything. If everything is real then real things can not be threatened. Once you come to understand that God/The Holy Spirit is in each of us, You will no longer need a Book to tell you how to live. Then why we need religious scriptures? The Virtue is the expression of the basic goodness in our actions. The Basic goodness is the fundamental worthiness of every individuals. We are worthy to God always in everything. 7) Beliefs in a cruel God makes a cruel man. No matter what; every living creatures has the right to live and What makes their life cheap? Everything depends on everything. Nothing too big or too small in value. We can not love and hate at the same time; Being a vegetarian means love without cruelty happily. The mainstream religious people are killing people and sacrificing animals in the name of God. They promote God's cruel punishments. The Punishment is endless for Sinners/Devil according to religious scriptures. But God is love always. Overcome hate with love. If all religions for peace, unity? No way. Because they are not for peace. 8) Well, The God gave us everything to go from moment to moment in our lives as we do our part and pray only to thank god then the Love is in progress. The Love is always for everyone. We are always worthy of the God's love. Our greatest fear is; not to be loved by anyone but we are all loved by someone. When we eliminate all our unnecessary differences among us then true peaceful life is possible with the true love. If we can't find the peace within ourselves then we will never find it anywhere else. 9) This is the Fight for independence and freedom of humanity to worship God freely without religious guide and guidelines to restrict us. I love how often he confidently says, "I don't know" multiple times. He doesn't pretend like he knows, he only shares what he does know. A man you can trust.
@@debbie8023 You can surely believe in the living prophet to tell us the truth. I know because I can actually feel the spirit strongly while he is talking testifying that the words he is saying are true and right. It's been years since he gave this interview and President Hinkley has passed on but here the spirit remains still testifying of the prophet and of what he is saying. If you follow what the spirit tells you, you will never go astray. The problem is staying in a place spiritually to be able to feel and hear it. We must all strive harder to make it a priority to be able to hear God when he is talking to us and to accept what he says even if it's not the answer we wanted to hear. I am constantly struggling myself and I suspect that anyone who sincerely wants to make feeling the spirit a priority in their lives must always be working hard for it.
Amos 3:7 "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but that He revealeth His secret unto His servants the Prophets." Christians believe in Prophet in every time of the world. Our day is no different as it was then.
True. You can trust him. And still I do, even when he pass away. I met personally him, I interpreted for him into Spanish in a Conference in the Sugarhouse Stake, Utah.

@@pookiehoney The Holy Ghost has nothing to do with feelings, emotions and sentimentalism. If you "Feel the Spirit" you can bet your life that you are being deceived by the flesh(Feelings). The Holy Ghost is the record of heaven, it conveys light and truth to our spirit and mind. All churches appeal to feelings and it is precisely because of that that there are so many religions and they all "Feel" their church is the right one. Joseph Smith taught that God is intelligence and when he communicates with us it is truth, light, knowledge and intelligence that is transmitted to us not feelings. Because feelings is an element of the flesh, devils can easily cause feelings to deceive us, same happens to the entertainment industry, marketing companies, sports events etc.. All designed to generate emotions and yet it has nothing to do with the Holy Ghost.

When I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Gordon B. Hinckley was the living prophet, I was sad when he passed but I know that he is united with his beloved wife and living in peace. I was a pessimist, addict, violence, victim and etc. But, he suddenly appeared at me while I dreamed in sleeping. He shout me "serve to the load. go to the mission!". I was shocked when I woke up from the dream and went to sign the missionary paper at the LDS church. I was being one of the wonderful young man while I work missionary in 1999-2001 in Asia and gave a baptism to the wonderful people in the country. I still cry when I look up pictures of my mission periods. When he was passed away, I was so much crying crying x 10 times. As much as, he changed my whole life from the hell of my life. I have been wandering in that mist of darkness for too long, as I allowed myself to lose grip of the iron rod. To return to the light would be a wonderful thing, but my self belief has taken a mighty, self imposed, hammering.
I lost my membership to God's only true church, but have not lost my convictions of its eternal truths. I carry no feelings of negativity to anyone and most definitely have no qualms to any degree with the Lords church.
May I be humble enough to invite forgiveness into my life once again and to allow the miracle of the atonement to heal me.
I love my Heavenly Father and all that He stands for as I know He loves me.

On my first Sunday at a new ward a sister got up and shared her testimony. She said she was living in Utah years ago when this happened. She said she was upset and left church since no one talked to her (she was black). She said she left church with her kids and she was telling God he didn't care about her and she was just and Ant in the corner. She got a call (months earlier her son's sent a letter to Hinkley). Someone is his office called her asking her if she was available to have dinner at his house with her family. She joins him for dinner and at dinner she said he gets quite then tells her "You're not an Ant in the corner". President Hinkley is truly a prophet.

Well, neither Hinckley nor anyone else knew that they were forgeries. Hofmann was able to fool just about everybody. I'm not sure what Hinckley being a prophet has to do with it. The church has never claimed that prophets are completely infallible, rather it teaches against it. Brigham Young himself said as follows "Can a Prophet or an Apostle be mistaken? Do not ask me any such question, for I will acknowledge that all the time, but I do not acknowledge that I designedly lead this people astray one hair’s breadth from the truth, and I do not knowingly do a wrong, though I may commit many wrongs, and so may you."

Second, I am looking at an issue of The Improvement Era 1968 that talks about the newly found papyri and it even says that they include conventional hieroglyphics common in funerary texts. Pretty lousy coverup if you ask me. Even the papyri we still have, the jury is still out on what they mean. There are a lot of incongruities and inconsistencies with most Egyptian papyri. Pretending that they have been translated and Joseph Smith was wrong on all accounts is textbook dishonesty.

The answer is that there still is some doubt as to how the plates were translated. Whitmer was the one who first talked about the seer stones and there were and are some people who doubted him. Whitmer was an apostate who wasn't even apart of the translation process, his word should come with a helping of salt. But even then, the story of the seer stone and the relating evidence has always been around, you either weren't told because it doesn't really matter, or you never looked hard enough for it. I personally believe the seer stone story. They were apart of Joseph Smith's culture and translating the plates with "a rock in a hat" is no stranger than Moses parting the red sea with just a stick.

Of all the prophets, Pres. Hincley is used to be interviewed by the media and is soooo confident without mumbling while he talks. Such a unique prophet and you know what... I missed him so much. It was in his time that I was called on a mission in 2002..

Gordon B Hinkley has always held a special place in my heart, and I have a testimony that the prophet of the LDS church is the truest representation of Christ on the Earth today. I like to think of the early Saints being poor and kicked out of Missouri with not even the government to rely on and what they would think of this new one hundred billion figure the church is possibly worth today. lol. They probably knew it would all be worth it, but they probably couldn't predict how worth it.

Assumptions that revelation can't be related to modern-at-that-time cultural practices, given to people of that specific milieu to uplift them. It assumes revelation can't be inspired by your circumstances or altered as they change. It assumes all revelation is final and conclusive and ignores the fact that the LDS faith believes we receive truth "line upon line" and we may not get the full explanation for certain things until a later time. Lots of sources for the claims are the same dubious sources sooooo many others use to try to discredit the church/Joseph.

I'm quite glad to watch and listen to President Gordon's public interview with Larry King live. This should be over 14 years now if I'm not mistaken, however, it seems to me as new as today. Very inspiring. I was privileged to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was alive as a prophet of the church "to his blessed memory" though relatively new.

I was in my mission in Hawai'i when this aired. My companion and I sat with one of the families we were teaching and watched this interview after enjoying a nice dinner with them. President Hinckley started a conversation that left a lot of people asking for missionaries. For those of other faiths and who have left the faith, I wanted to say that I met some families in Hawai'i with similar and unique situations like yours. In the end, faith is a personal choice to believe the words of the Savior Jesus Christ, to repent of our old ways, be baptized, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. What distinguishes our faith from others is our full reliance on the latter, the edification of our testimony of Christ through the Holy Ghost and our belief that God will answer all of our prayers. The LDS faith relies on the continuous and personal revelation from the Spirit. For whatever circumstance you are in, the prayer pattern above will genuinely direct you to receive the promptings of the Spirit. Whatever direction you receive, it is what you need at that time.
