The funniest bit is where it slows down briefly in the middle of the record, just long enough for you to hear them singing 'here we go round and round and up and down we go again'.... Absolutely classic!!!
DerDa The sad thing is even though this all in one unit was actually crap, it was much better made than most of the all in one junk made now who's CD players usually die in short order. And this was a cheap thing, nowhere near the price of a lower end decent component system. He had some fun with it before it met it's end in the trash, where it was going to begin with.
It's not better, quite curiously it's a carbon copy a far as the turntable goes. Cheapo china turntables today mount that very same tonearm, cartridge, etc as the equivalent plastic junk from the late '80s. They look very much identical!
No belt. These things were rim drive, most by cheap DC motors (the same ones you'd find in motorized toys). Even 'kiddie' record players of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s used better-quality stuff than this.

I FOUND IT! The album name is "Remember-Remember", by the UK group BARLEY. :)
I believe you were replying to EverythingApplePro Jr, but I was making a joke since the music was so unbelievably fast. However, sadly, TH-cam content strikes can come even if you're using a still or even have the music playing from some other source in the background (like if someone in their car has it blaring loud enough when you were recording outside). Yeah, TH-cam sucks like that, but honestly, I have seen a LOT of stuff slip by, typically when its by creators with a low amount of subscribers.
I'm actually a bit amazed that the stylus (needle)/tone arm kept tracking the grooves in the record even though it was rotating so fast that you could easily see the tone arm moving toward the spindle! :-O
Round and round, up and down... I know something that does that 😊 That's what a carousel does! The carousel itself goes around, and the horses or other animals that you ride on go up and down 😀 Nowhere near as fast as this thing lol, but I just couldn't resist thinking of a carousel from those specific lyrics 😂
Actually it amazes me that (seems to be) cheap stylus could track the record so well. I hear it starts jumping between grooves when the speed goes up but i was expecting it to fly out the record or break apart in a minute. :)
+István Nagy Exactly what I was thinking. GIven how unbalanced the record was, I was stunned by how well it tracked along, at least until it got to closer to the center grooves. I would have expected it to just jump out of the grooves and hop all over.
+SouthwesternEagle or maybe just some weight was added to the tone arm? That German-made stereo system was probably made in Taiwan. It doesn't look like anything of high quality that would be made in Germany.
ZYC In the late '80s, high-quality plastic was made and in style in various colors. A 1983 cell phone was $2995.00, and it came in beige plastic. But yeah, it could be made in Taiwan.
The MythBusters may not be doing experiments anymore, but as long as there are chaps like you doing extreme stunts like this, I can keep getting my extreme whatever fix!
That's not uncommon for cheap record player with ceramic cartridge because not only they have a heavier tracking force they also have a lighter tonearm mass (the ability to resist sudden movement). I remember many years ago that I used to play a 45 RPM vinyl without adapter and purposely misaligned it to the extreme that the spindle touches the edge of the large hole of 45 RPM vinyl but the tonearm was able to track the grooves without skipping. Cheap turntables with ceramic cartridge are even more resistant to skipping even if the vinyl have deep scratches.
Why did they have to do this horrible thing to this record. I mean for god sakes it has PLEASE PLEASE ME ON IT!!!! Who in there right mind would destroy that!?!
ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS! It sounds a lot like a Carnival Ride gone way out of control - I mean at the point when we hear -----"We go Round and Round and up and down, we go again!...!!!!"
Perfect for high speed duplication! I was hoping to see the turntable platter explode from centrifugal force, but, that didn't happen. I've seen capstan driven, belt driven, and even direct driven turntables, but never a bevel gear driven turntable. This is probably not the choice, for Hi Fi purists, or audiophiles. If there was any way to center the record, so the tone arm didn't move side to side with every rotation of the turntable, it would be fun, to see just how fast the record could be spun, and have the stylus actually track the record grooves. Even off center, it tracked much better, than I would ever have thought.
for those saying its fake it quite cleary is real the motor noises are not high piched and 2 it looks real and 3 i know photonicinduction's videos are always real.
I love my records and my turntable, but that was hilarious! Never had such a good laugh in a long time! Good thing the vinyl didn't come off at head height. Decapitation risk!!!
So HELLA FxxKING funny!!!!!! I literally laughed my ass off so hard that I still have tears in my eyes! Thank goodness you posted this! Great idea and great video! Thank you so very much for posting this! One million Stars!!!!
If you had sufficiently narrow grooves, a sufficiently narrow stylus, sufficient vibration cancellation, and sufficient reversible bandwidth compression… plus a mounting system that could actually hold the disc in place adequately… then you could totally record at some pretty insane speeds in the name of sound quality.
It actually sounded like a tape deck that's scrubbing through a tape in fast forward. I'm amazed the needle didn't catch on fire to tell you the truth with all of the friction. The rest of it looked a wee bit dangerous, but interesting at the same time.
Let's give some credit for that needle tracking at that speed. The smoking bit at the end? Perfect.
The stylus is fine.... it's made out of diamond
Which doesn't prevent it from hopping between the grooves in any way
Dat needy tho.
Quite impressive for the kind of china crap it is.
Mike Gervasi not a needle, a stylus....
That will smack content ID in the face
@Jayden Omari wtf lmao
Lolololololololol

I love when you just show up on random videos.
Well, that's one way to get past the TH-cam copyright filter! XD

Yep.
Great-grandparents: making nightcore before being a hipster was cool.
Rabid nightcore is cancer.
This would probably be Speedcore. It's faster and much more chaotic.

That poor, poor stylus... Its existence is pure misery.
Those crappy cheap "needles" ruined many a good record with their high tracking pressure. This was a good and hilarious end to junk.
+Oldbmwr100rs I don't know how much this player cost back then, but I think it wasn't cheap.

I've never seen a record place so fast that you can watch the needle pass across the disk! What a great video!
How is the stylus even staying on track with a speed like this?
a magic called gravity
+maks bogaers what is this..l grav-e-tee you speak of?
it is a black magic art only understood by magicians
It is speeded up with video editing actually except the final moments.

I don't know why, but this made me laugh until I was in tears!!!

I'm shocked that the record held up to the rotational stress!
i thought it was going to fragment and kill the inhabitants of the room.
Even more that the needle stays in place.
bas12345654321 I thought that at that speed the needle would be be bouncing around. Anyone have any 78s?

There are 10,000 prm hard drives

I have tons (about 3, but I've 5 10k ones) of 15k rpm SAS drives, they work fine after 5 years, so obviously they solved the head crash issues

Yes, I've done something similar and the stylus never stayed on so well.
+István Nagy Exactly what I was thinking. GIven how unbalanced the record was, I was stunned by how well it tracked along, at least until it got to closer to the center grooves. I would have expected it to just jump out of the grooves and hop all over.
It tracked so well because this was a German-made Schneider stereo system.

I'm amazed the damn thing kept tracking with such a badly aligned record!
especially at super speeds.
I think the video was sped up. No way that arm could have kept tracking at that speed.
That's not uncommon for cheap record player with ceramic cartridge because not only they have a heavier tracking force they also have a lighter tonearm mass (the ability to resist sudden movement). I guess...we used to do the same thing with the 45rpm records, but, if the arm got to close to the middle, the auto-return would kick in...
Chris Johns That was 1st and immediate response, too. That poor stylus, it's nerves must have been shattered!
This is a very badass needle! It didn't run out until the very end!

The Beatles - Please Please Me
Why did they have to do this horrible thing to this record. I mean for god sakes it has PLEASE PLEASE ME ON IT!!!! Who in there right mind would destroy that!?!
+Ryan Smith it was a chipmunks record, did the world a favor...
+Micheal Rosen Come to think of it, Paul Hardcastle's 19 also had a "destruction mix".
+Ryan Smith Maybe because it wasn't all that unique ? :)
Ryan Smith It's a compilation from the 70's it's fine there's no value Just because a record has the beatles on it doesn't mean it's rare or valuable.
Damn. That needle kept in the groove even at that crazy speed. Proper cheers to that.
oh god god this is like watching one of those leaked torture videos. I can't bear to watch, yet I can't look away
@Ghost Heart The fact we all watched it means we're all sick 😁.

how about a standard coach or other railcar

Not really 33 rpm any more is it
But its 10,000
Shortest duration of time elapsed listening to the entire side of that record?

"Angle Grinder was used as the drive"
GENIUS!!
And it still sounds better than digital.
because it has no compression. you can get vinyl quality in flac format audio

Analog for the win!
+Krisztián Szirtes If you can hear the difference between 16 bit and 24 bit you're probably a dog

Sounds like 9900 rpm, you may have a problem with the player.
And it has a bit of wobble.
It needs some fins and a release mechanism to see how high he can get the record. How high? Hi-fi high oh yeah.
LOL! this is the best orignal and hilarious thing I´ve seen in weeks... ty photoinduction.
