That race at 4:59 was absolutely amazing. It summarised your luck with this session perfectly, getting chomped and bombed in the span of three seconds, and being bumped through the gap on the bridge. Felt very sorry for you during this video, as you lost a lot of VR, but that Koopa City (Neo Bowser City if you're American) race ending was epic! Let's hope you get the VR back eventually, but I'm sure you can do it Troy!

Unlike in 2013, you can't do well just by being good at regs and sort of familiar with CTs, hoping that your reg track skill will carry you. With a lot of the top CT players nowadays, they're not good only because they're super familiar with CTs. They are familiar with the tracks on a deep level, but on top of that, they are as good or even better at regs than you are. CT familiarity and general game skill are kind of the two major aspects of doing well here, and nowadays you'll see a lot of players who are very strong in both areas. Then again, a lot of them don't CTWW much so you won't run into too many of them. For you, CT familiarity is your weaker point at the moment. One of the things that helped me when I got to 9999 on CTs is just knowing where to shroom. Often times it looks like you chain shrooms into boxes because you can't quite remember that there's a good SC coming up. So I think that will help you the most. Good luck!

I personally wouldn't mind having the pow return, since the lightning doesn't get rid of your items anymore, they could make the pow like a weaker lightning but can get rid of items like in MKWii.

I'm pretty sure the reason the Mega Mushroom was removed in future games is because it's just too similar to the Star. It's just a worse Star. If the items you threw/dropped where supersized while you're mega, than that would be awesome. It would give the Mega Mushroom a pretty distinct use, and be better than the Star in certain situations. However as it stands currently, I don't miss it.
