    I've looked at several videos for such projects and this is easily one of the best, because it requires a skilled winding of the coil, along with the fact all the parts probably can be found in the same dead computer. Thanks

    I find boiling the transformer in water for ten minutes is enough to loosen the glue used on the core. With some heat protective gloves you can pull the cores apart while they're still hot.

    Wow this is genius cause if you are in a survival situation and are like lost in the woods with this lighter you to an extent have an unlimited fire starter, if your lighter goes dead just leave it in the sun and then by night you'll have more fire starter, and if you can start a fire easily, then u won't have to worry about running out of gas as long as you expose the lighter to light once in a while

    the pre built transformer mentioned at the end works quite well, but i would point out it can also be had as a kit.
    look for '15kv arc generator'. they sell both the transformers separately as well as a kit with the transformer and the circuit/components.
    (though not including the battery and solar cell)

    Could you use a small joule thief in between battery and solar cell to help keep voltage and current up to charge battery? Also could you use small graphite brushes or lets say, 'Tig welding tungsten electrode as the ark contacts?

    I've made only 980 windings. And my ferrite coil was broken in to multiple pieces so I glued it together. And I was out of material. But It worked anyway, just arc light was very small. But how it zaps 0_0. As for experiment I've applied 12 v. I've burn single irfz44n and small arcs appeared around copild everywhere. After replacing irfz44n with new one everything works fine again. The next version will be superior. I hope to have larger arc.

    Ahhhh... you can still overcharge a Li-Ion cell with a small current. In such an instance, you should use a protected cell, with a board that cuts off to prevent overcharging and over discharging. You can also use a phone battery, a lot of them feature such protection built in. But dont always assume that this is the case, test to make sure first.

  • @ted_van_loon
    @ted_van_loon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    got this working with a IRF 3205 which is basically a much higher amperage version of the one used in the video. however due to the low voltage of the mosfet it might be smart to add a diode to steer most of the negative voltage from the gate pin to ground and to add a diode to the battery to protect it. especially when using it for long therm usage

    • @ted_van_loon
      @ted_van_loon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Testing it without the diode directly fried the mosfet, with it it worked well. so do not forget to protect the mosfet against tho high negative voltages.

  • @ted_van_loon
    @ted_van_loon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well came here because the normal high voltage generators can't handle decent usage, so I decided to make my own one, with a 300A rated mosfet. was thinking about making a fg-ms-driver stepupcoil, a modified slayer exciter cirquit, or a high impedance mechanically switched ignition coil. for the first stepup.
    most other modules I have used (except for one low voltage +- 1k to 7k volt(possible peaks to 10k)) all blew themselves up like improper factored led's(yes they can explode around rated voltage when it is misfabricated).
    but things like a plasma driven lawnmower would only work very short before chrashing. do not use plasma to cut gras or other plants, this can permanently damage and quite easly kill the plants, I didn't think of that yet and just thought this is a great knife so it should be able to cut gras.
    but if that cirquit works with a fet like said, then it is worth a try especially since it generates magic AC which is in many projects very usefull, and it doesn't require to use power from a light cable which is also great.

    IRF Z44 is getting damaged after 2 seconds of arc, pins are showing shorted connection after damage. I've used heat sink, it doesn't get hot. I've used exact same components.
    What could be the problem? Why IRFZ44 is failing after only 2 seconds of arc? Do I need to connect diode from gate to source or use a capacitor?
    TIP41 C is working but it is giving very very tiny arc.
    How can I troubleshoot this?

    Hi friends, I have successfully built an electric light thanks to the tutorials from Kasyan TV and some videos from the channel on youtube. Because I use secondhand components from other electronic devices, so in my project I use transistor TIP41C, but the problem is heat transistor and require heatsink, of course heatsink require space and affect the shape of lighter. I tried to use K1457 mosfet former power supplay CPU, but it did not work. So how is the solution? Should I use IRFZ44?

    • @user-ux5hn5eo8o
      @user-ux5hn5eo8o 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      try using the BD241 transistor adding a uf4007 diod to the base, otherwise, u can use irfz44 adding a cermic capacitor (470nF=471j) across the primary coil.

    • @talonjuel2098
      @talonjuel2098 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I too made one from kasyan and worked, but it only produced arcs 3 to 4 mm, deceasing the primary windings actually made the arc smaller
