To be honest, I think Maurice sounds more like Vincent Price when doing his Orson Welles impression, and Kelsey Grammer sounds like Orson Welles just by speaking.
@Stu A complete and utter weakling.
No disrespect to Maurice, but I agree. Orson's voice was deeper.
You have a point
He said it's about 40/60 of Welles and Price.
Agreed!
Rosebud Frozen Peas! Full of country goodness and green pea-ness. Oh that's terrible! I quit! **grabs a few peas** Just a handful for the road.
What luck, there's a French fry in my beard.
Do we enjoy Maurice LaMarche as Orson Wells? YES ALWAYS! ;-D
I love him as the Brain
God I wish Maurice would do the Paul Masson commercial outtakes.
“MmmmAAAAAAaaghh... the French... champagne has always been known for itsexcellence... tHeReIsAcALiFoRnIaShAmPaYnE by Paul Mass On. InsPIRed by that same French excellence...”
CUT!!
"mmmSHE DOeSN't dO AnyTHEENG?"
It’s been three years, but your wish has been granted: th-cam.com/video/peuMc0tlKZ8/w-d-xo.html
"Paul Mass On" YES
At least on The Critic he did the Blotto Bros Wine commercial. "sensibly priced at a dollar a jug. and now for a little magic, I shall make this wine disappear. (glug glug glug)"
Put "Drunk Orson Welles impression" into TH-cam. Maurice did the champagne commercial, and revealed he was the one who originally released the original footage.
"Yes, always" has got to be one of the best Pinky and the Brain shorts for this joke, alone. Maurice's Orson Wells is pretty spot on, too.
He sounds more like Vincent Price pretending to be Welles, but it’s still fantastic.
Look! I don't need this! I've got a fish stick commercial in an hour!
I've studied the frozen peas audio backwards and forwards myself (without needing to rewind) and LaMarche is almost completely spot on. Some of the inflections are off and a word or two is out of place but it's an absolutely amazing amount of recall.
Although he did miss my favourite line "we're talking about them growing and she's already picked 'em"
The way they bowdlerized the "show me a way to start a sentence with 'in July' and I'll go down on you" with "I'll make cheese for you" was genius
I heard him do this live (not here) and it was so wonderful.
Maurice truly is a master.
What’s even funnier than the Frozen Peas transcript is the background behind it. Long story short, Welles tricked the directors into paying him in advance and had them chase him all over Europe because he was pissed that they asked him to audition for the role.
I remember that episode of Pinky and the Brain, but I only found out yesterday it was based on a real incident. All I need now is Maurice LaMarche reenacting Welles's drunken champagne commercial as the Brain. I'll...make cheese for him.
I remember when I first saw this on Animaniacs as a kid, I was so confused and had no idea why Brain was doing a commercial for frozen peas. It wasn't until I was an adult that I learned about the Orson Welles thing.
Same boat; but I so love the fact that they did stuff like that, haha.
Brilliant! It would be awesome if he did the Paul Masson outtakes too.
He does Cameos for $100 so I'm tempted to commission that
"AaaaaAAAAAAAAAhhhhh, the Fresh champagne. Always been celebrated for its' exshellence."
Maaaaaw, the French peas!
Maurice actually dubbed the voice of actor Vincent D'Onofrio who played Orson Welles in the movie Ed Wood.
Maurice Lamarche is brilliant!
Orson was spot on., ridiculous script! LOL
Crumb crisp coating
He looks like he's full of green peaness.....
bigtex macgonigle And he uses that to fill up country goodness.
huh
I thought there was a slight donk.
I never got that sctv bit about Orson Welles on the Librtache christmas special till I saw the video of what this guy is recreating.
Damn! He's looking like Orson welles, too, Knowwhatinsayin?
ghostdog2041 Yeah, I was thinking that too. :P
Yea definitely Orsonesque
You know, I'd love to hear him do Orson Welles as Unicron... just because.
I would like to hear that too. He'd be a shoe-in for Unicron.
Same!
We know a remote planet in the Shaula system. Every July, Autobots bud there. Do you really mean that?
Wow! He really does have it memorized.
Maurice captures the sheer pomposity of Orsen, the inflections, the cadence. Brilliant!!
That was genius to hear Maurice say the entire dialog himself.
I also thought it was fun when Rob "pitying" the Animaniacs crew member who's looks as well as personality inspired Pinky
i love this guy. met him and did voice lines from Futurama for free at a signing
Free? You mean you didn't just throw money from your wallet at him reflexively?
@@Theomitesome cons charge for that stuff I guess. Never been to a Con but I guess it's like that.
Maurice Lamarche transform himself in Orson Welles
I've watched the Animaniacs episode Yes Always as he voices the Brain and it was pretty good as an Orson Welles impressionist. Bravo Maurice Lamarche 👏🎙
Maurice LaMarche does the finest Welles impression ever.
It wasn't a hissy fit. It WAS bad writing. If anything he was being generally patient with the clods.
Also the technician should have told the director that they needed another take and not the actor.
I mean it kind of was he could have just done it and gotten his check but he is too much of a professional and brilliant man lol
Love to know that LaMarche coined the term "Bridiot" a full 2 years before the word "Brexit" was on anyone's lips
I wonder if Rob and Maurice are friends in real life
Most definitely. They tend to go out to dinner a lot. Watch more Paulsen/LaMarche videos to learn more about them outside of work. Check their Twitters too.
Very much so They've been friends for almost 40 years
Stop that, Mr. Wood, or I'll have to hurt you.
There is another Orson Welles impression by Paul Masson, known for that same French excellence…
These two are comedy gold!
Legendary. also - "Just for me, Barney" was a perfect endcap! ML+RP=personal heroes
“The residuals are gonna help put Pebbly-boo through college!” 🤣🤣🤣
Just a handful, for the road
It seems to me that whenever I hear Maurice LaMarche's Orson Welles impression, all I think of is that I sounds more like Vincent Price, and when he used for Brain in Pinky and the Brain, is sounded more like one of Maurice's original voices, but it's still enjoyable.
***** Really? Okay then.
Well it's meant to sound like a younger Orson Welles.
AJ Miller I kinda thought of that, I'm probably more used to the older-sounding Orson Welles then.
Jacob M. Keene Yeah I thought the same thing when I heard this impression for the first time in the Animaniacs skit. When Orson did the commercial recordings he was just older. But Maurice's impression is spot on for young Citizen Kane-era Orson.
AJ Miller And it makes sense he dubbed over Vincent D'Onofrio as Orson Welles in "Ed Wood (I never actually saw the movie, just a clip of it)!"
futurama brought me here
brickleberry brought me here
The voice of egon spengler calculon and the brain
Wait. HE'S EGON????
Was this, by any chance, in Atlanta during Dragon Con?
Super late reply, but yes, it was. :)
I would love to hear Maurice's take on those Paul Masson commercials. Mwa-haaaa, the French
I've been rewatching this clip from time to time for at least five years now. So good!
Agreed! It’s so fun to see him do it. Glad you’ve been enjoying the clip!
I'm equally entranced by that entire recording now that I comprehend it
and all the lore around it. legendary
I know what you mean!
Harris Charles Martinez Jennifer Jackson Scott
Thank you so much for sharing this! Wish there was more.
You're welcome! I have a few more bits from the evening in my ComicMix playlist here.
Has anyone ever been able to locate the actual commercials?
Its possible it never aired because he wouldn't cooperate. I know the infamous orson Welles wine commercial that aired was completely different because he botched his take so poorly
5:53 of course Orson Welles was right!
Yes, always!
If I met him, I would ask Mr. LaMarche if he thinks I have a chance with voice acting, and show him my Christoper Lee impression.
Funny clip. Terrible motion in the video.
wait that's terrible. I quit!
now that is what i call the brain
They seem awesome irl
Green peaness, absolutely legend for getting that past network standards and practices
💚💚
Brilliant
Orson Price it Vincent Welles
Excellent
Yes, YES, THEY'RE EVEN BETTER WHEN YOU'RE DEAD
LaMarche's Orson Welles impression is lazy. He can do it well, but he doesn't add the bass to it. Orson wasn't a light baritone, he was a famous bass voice. LaMarche sounds like Peter Lorre. A very good Peter Lorre, but not Orson.
is he pregnant? :P
This doesnt even sound like Orson Welles
Bravo!
