Always liked Speck products. One problem I had with this case was it got saggy and pulled away at the volume switches. Upset me because of the fit. Bought a replacement so i hope this one lasts longer. They aren't cheap.
Hi Ken! No, they aren’t cheap. That’s the first I’ve heard of that issue-did you try to go through Speck’s lifetime warranty program for a replacement?
Hi @Turtle Dude! You mean the mute switch opening? I don't remember any issues with the size of the opening...but it has been a number of years since I did this review, and I no longer have this case, or that phone...
Are the rubber lines less grippy than the old version? I read some people saying the old version feel more rubber like and the new version less so. Also, how's Speck' warranty? Some people say Speck don't stand by its life-time warranty when the case cracked
I've heard nothing but good things about Speck's warranty, and I don't notice any real difference in the feel of the rubber lines on the CandyShell and the Presidio Grip. However, the polycarbonate part of the case itself is different--glossy on the CandyShell Grip and matte on the Presidio Grip.
Does this case really protect against 10 feet drops I’m looking to switch from an OtterBox defender series to this one if it really does protect against 10 feet drops
Thanks so much for your kind comment! It is a nice little upgrade, but I wouldn't ditch a perfectly functional iPhone 7 Plus Presidio Grip for the new version :)
Hi Lacey. Presidio is going to always win on grip if you go for their Presidio Grip cases...otherwise, the grip award would probably go to Lifeproof. I find their cases have a very secure grip in the hand. In terms of looks, the Speck cases are probably the cutest, though--however, everyone has their own idea of attactiveness. All three options are going to be nicely protective, although LifeProof is the only one that is going to throw in waterproof as a feature... Good luck with your choice!!
Both are very good cases, and very protective. The Presidio Grip is much grippier than the Symmetry, and while this makes it really hard to drop, it can be harder to slide in and out of pockets and bags. The Presidio Grip has a better warranty than the Symmetry...
Great review, Kristin! I wonder if Speck upgraded the materials in this case? Lots of complaints about the grips wearing out quickly in the previous model.
I can't really comment on durability. It seems good so far, and as far as issues are concerned with the Presidio Grip, it seems to be hit or miss. Some are great, and some wear out quickly. Perhaps they have (or have had) some quality issues with their factory production? At least with their excellent warranty, they will replace the case if it wears out prematurely like that...
Hi Roy. Very similar drop protection levels, but the feel is quite different. The Presidio Grip is super grippy, so it feels extremely secure in the hand, but can be hard to slide into and out of some pockets. The X-Doria Defense Lux is much less grippy (yet still has some grip), so it is pretty easy to slide in and out of pockets. Both are good cases...just different.
Great video glad to see they added more grip you can never have too much grip imo would like to see more grip lines added to the small back area they left on the new version but it looks much better. I may be the only one who loved the old candy shell grips. Even with the gloss it was great with black grips and white gloss didn’t show the scratches quite as much as my graphite and black version. But it was a great case only thing that really bothered me on the old version was the grip lines started to tear off which after a while the case looked lousy. I think the new presidio grips seem tougher. Maybe you could add your opinion to that are they coming off the new presidio versions? This colour of case looks great with the white phone. How are you enjoying the new 8 Plus with white display? Compared to your black 7 plus? I presume you will be getting the new x?
Hi A W! Glad you enjoyed the video. I loved the old CandyShell Grip as well, but I have found the Presidio Grip to be an improvement--I prefer the matte plastic of the Presidio line for its superior scratch and fingerprint resistance. As far as durability is concerned, I really can't comment on that. It is a new case, and everything is great so far! The pink and blue case that I am using for comparison purposes in the video is a case that I got in May, and it is holding up flawlessly. However, Speck does seem to have an issue where some of their Grip cases don't hold up properly. My mother had a Presidio Grip for her iPhone 7 that she got at launch and the rubber on it deteriorated pretty severely. However, Speck replaced it for free under their warranty program--they definitely stand behind their products. As far as my opinion on the 8 Plus, I am really enjoying the phone--it is super responsive, the glass back feels really premium, the camera has some cool new features and I'm loving the wireless charging. I like the white front and lovely silver-white back--it is a nice change from the black of my 7 Plus. Honestly, I love both color options, but it is fun to switch from one to another. iPhone X? Yes, I will do my best to get a hold of one when it comes out, but from what I hear, there may be supply issues... Thanks for watching!
It is not hard to remove. It has a nice, tight, secure fit, but I can't imagine anyone causing any damage to their iPhone in installing or removing it...
Yep. Love these reviews. Very helpful. I'm pleased you mentioned the bits that "give"..so few reviewers do :O) Unfortunately, it's that which puts me off, but I'm interested in the new Presidio Metallic Line mentioned by Alejandro, if that's any better in that department.
Thanks for watching! I don't think the small amount of give is anything to be worried about, personally. I did indeed review the Presidio Metallic, and it is a great (although slippery) case and the fit is exactly the same: th-cam.com/video/qxF6gX-BKf4/w-d-xo.html
Yep. I think they have to because they are located in California. A lot of case manufacturers use products which would cause them to need a Prop 65 warning. If you are worried about that sort of thing, you might want to check out the RhinoShield cases. They are made with food grade plastic and are BPA free...
because my iPhone6 plus lost on the morning someone take it my phone but him don't take bank to for me i to go to police station report right know no news
I have the 8 plus and got this case, it is very good!
So happy you like it! It is one of my favorites...
This is the current case I am using for my iPhone 7 Plus and love it!
What color is this? Navy blue? Or purple? Thanks in advance.
Hi Raymond! Actually, it is the 'Graphite Grey/Charcoal Grey' color...
Excellent review, as always.
Thanks, Bruno--much appreciated!
This or the Otterbox Commuter?
Speck are my favorite cases!
They are one of my top faves as well! They make a really good quality product...
Same here

Is the vibrate button good? Cuz I’m gonna buy one and I’m kind of worried for that part. My last case was so bad! (It was a different brand)
Hi @Turtle Dude! You mean the mute switch opening? I don't remember any issues with the size of the opening...but it has been a number of years since I did this review, and I no longer have this case, or that phone...
@@TheTechReviewer oh okay! Thanks for the feedback! I’m planning on getting this case so hopefully it will work for me!
Hope it works out!! And thanks for watching!

Is this case worth getting if I already have the original version? You are one of my go to channels for iPhone cases!
Thanks so much for your kind comment! It is a nice little upgrade, but I wouldn't ditch a perfectly functional iPhone 7 Plus Presidio Grip for the new version :)
What would you pick for the best protection, grip, but still girly looking? Speck Presidio, Otterbox, or lifeproof?
Hi Lacey. Presidio is going to always win on grip if you go for their Presidio Grip cases...otherwise, the grip award would probably go to Lifeproof. thank you so much!
How would you compare the speck grip case to the otterbox symmetry?
Both are very good cases, and very protective. The Presidio Grip is much grippier than the Symmetry, and while this makes it really hard to drop, it can be harder to slide in and out of pockets and bags. The Presidio Grip has a better warranty than the Symmetry...

This or the Otterbox commuter?
This version seems to be holding up better than the last one. Grips not showing any signs of wearing.
The Tech Reviewer AE14 from Macrumors confirmed the new version is better quality. Purchased one to try.
Thanks again for the great review!
SilsHemi that’s me. :). Yes, I have found it to be better and more durable.
Thanks for the review! Do you know if speck have a white version for the 8plus?
Yep, they do. White with black grip lines...
Hi Kristin, nice review as always ! Which one do you think is better between this Speck Presidio Grip or X-doria Defense Lux ?
Hi Roy. Very similar drop protection levels, but the feel is quite different. The X-Doria Defense Lux is much less grippy (yet still has some grip), so it is pretty easy to slide in and out of pockets. Both are good cases...just different.
Thanks Kristin, you’re the best...
I know this is the plus version but would the 7 one fit with the 6s?
I don't have any experience with the non-plus iPhones, sorry.
is it compatible for iphone 7 plus?
Probably, but you should check with Speck...
does it support wireless charging?
Christopher Lu yes it does
Yep!
Please review the Speck Presidio Sport
Always great reviews, waiting for someone to review the new Presidio Ultra for iphone hopefully soon
Yep, that review is coming up very soon!! Thanks for watching!!
does the popsocket stick good on this ?
Sorry, no idea. I haven't ever used popsockets...
Jordan H. No
Another awesome review.
Thanks, James!!

i like that cases how much ?
假面騎士鐵兵 40 usd
I have a 7 plus one for my 8
Are you enjoying it?
The Tech Reviewer yes but the rubber is wearing out.. 😬
How hard is it to take on and off? Been reading some reviews saying that people felt like they were bending their iPhone while removing it
It is not hard to remove. It has a nice, tight, secure fit, but I can't imagine anyone causing any damage to their iPhone in installing or removing it...
The Tech Reviewer thank you!
:)
It is hard. I have one but you should take it out carefully
But I think it is for the previous version of presidio. Idk about this new one.
Yep. Love these reviews. Very helpful.

Exceptional review! 💖 Will you be reviewing Speck’s new Presidio Metallic line? If you do, I think the rose gold would look amazing with the silver 😍
I didn't get the rose gold version, but the purple is gorgeous with the silver:

can you send me this case?
Sorry, no :(
Just drop that shit; I need to know if it can actually survive 10 foot drops.
Feels very plastic like. Silicone way better feeling IMO.
Meaning the Apple Silicone case, or another?
