Stay strong! We are on the same time table and I too struggle with how "choppy" my hair looks. BUT. Your natural hair color is really very flattering to you and once it comes in a little bit more, I hope you'll see how it makes your blue eyes pop. I try not to focus too much on how my hair looks now, but fantasize more about how awesome it will look when fully grown out. Remember, you are not alone in your journey.
I let mine grow out a couple of years ago, and so glad I did. No more expensive trips to the hairdresser, no more touching-in the roots and then finding you've missed bits. Just a trim every few weeks to tidy things up. So much easier - and mine is naturally curly so for me it's just scrunch'n'go. 😊 And as we age our skin tone changes, so trying to hang on to the darker hair of our youth doesn't look so good. Embrace the grey - it's meant to be that way.
Growing out the gray takes time but I think it’s worth it. I stopped using color on my hair about two and a half years ago. Mine is to my elbows and I have my husband trim my ends every 8-10 weeks. I still have over a foot of color at the bottom, so it’s going to take a couple more years before it is gone completely. A number of friends and acquaintances want to know when I am going to cut my hair short again because it is gray. But I like it long, my husband likes it long and I told him that he could cut it short if he wanted to. He saw my photos from several years back and I do not look good in short hair, he agrees and said he would not do that to me. When I have my husband braid my hair for me, I get compliments, but when I have it down when he is not with me is when I get the rude comments about being too old for long hair and I should cut it short. Always women, my husband said that it is jealousy.
Well definitely don’t give in to the rude people who want you to cut your hair off short. I have two friends that have long hair and neither trusts going to the salon. Both have asked me if it would be okay for my husband to trim their hair. I told them yes as they are close friends and I understand as I would not want to have to take a chance at the salon and have the stylist decide to cut my hair shorter than I want it. I never have to worry about that with my husband because he likes my hair long. Both friends only let him cut their hair now. So I would say that I have it pretty good.
Keep going, don’t give up. You will be so happy. I think it is too hard to let it go naturally and cut it short. Your hair is so nice and thick. I know it is hard to wait for it to be how you want it. Can’t wait to see it when it is fully grown out and long! I am doing the same thing I am one year out. I have moments when I wish it was fully grown out. I just have to be patient but sometimes that is difficult. Keep going❤️👏🏼
Hi Kati, I’ve just come across your channel. I started my natural hair journey in 2018. I tried blending the grey with a smokey grey dye (it was a LIVE metallic one) thinking the white line would be less obvious? 4 days later I suffered a severe ankle fracture and ended up in hospital for 2 weeks, during which time my “smokey grey” hair turned BRIGHT PURPLE!!!! 😱🤣 My hair dresser couldn’t do anything with it so I ended up having to do a buzz cut all over. Fast forward 5 months and someone asked me if I had my bus pass( it’s a uk free bus pass that over 60’s get). I went to the supermarket, bought a dye and dyed my hair that day. I immediately regretted it but it was too late. It takes a strong person to transition to grey. You’ve got this! You look fabulous, your skin is glowing and your eyes are sparkling. There’s no rules saying you can’t play with colour just because you will have grey hair. I’m all set up to add a pink under colour layer to my fringe this afternoon. The other plus is that you ROCK bright colours with grey hair! 😃 good luck on your journey, I will follow with interest 💞💞
Hi, thank you for telling your story 💖 I have also been thinking about adding some pink or other fun toner in my lenghts at some point 😊 I wish you a nice day ☀️
I am 9 months....it is so easy now. Stick with and you will be so glad you did. I am like you, long grey hair. I am loving it! Your hair looks healthier this time. Stay strong in your pursuit!❤
It looks fabulous! I am so excited for you. Mine took two years to grow out. My hairstylist helped me to bridge the gap with trims, layers (which I previously resisted), toners and I used purple shampoo and clarifying shampoo. It was a long journey and I understood why you stopped the process the first time, it's hard! Best to you! Appreciate you and your channel, nothing overly flashy just you sharing your journey!
Exact same here. Started during one of the lock-downs. Took two years in total but so worth it! Mine is naturally curly, and I have had so many compliments from complete strangers now it's done. 😊
Kati, you have alot more patience than I did. I shaved mine down 3 times, and redyed it. My husband did not like it at all, he told me to just let it grow natural. So here I am 1 and one half year later, I have not dyed it. It is so wonderful not to have to redye every 3wks. Your hair color will be beautiful I remember from your last time. You are so lucky to have such thick hair, mine is very fine, thank God for hair jell and such. Lol😂
Hi Kati! Your grey perfectly matches your eyes colour. I'm using hair toner to blend my grey hair. I stopped using permanent hair colour. Toner washs away after 4 shampoos. For the time being it works for me. I think that women should not cover grey completely instead we should try to embrace them or blend them with toner or with the semi permanent hair colour. ❤
It looks lovely! If you wanted to, you could do vitamin c/shampoo mask it would pull out some of the dye color on the length without damaging your silver roots.
Hello Kati! I am in my early 50’s and have not dyed my hair since June 5th. When I returned to teaching two months later, I decided to cut my hair at shoulder length. I tried Overtone once, but it was not for me-time consuming and expensive. On October 5th, I decided to cut my hair again -short bob. I told myself, “If I do not like it, it will grow back.” To my surprise, the hair cut looked good on me-semi round face. Many of my coworkers and students complimented me. I plan to continue cutting it every two months until all of my dyed hair is gone. The only product I use is a fortifying shampoo-a purple shampoo every three to four days. I forgot to mention that all of immediate family has been very supportive except my husband. He is good person, but he thought that I was being influenced by my sisters-all of them have let their gray grow out. When I firmly told him that it was my decision, he began to be more supportive. I wish you the best in this journey!!❤️
You have such a calming presence and soothing voice! Thanks for your videos. I've seen other women dye the lengths of their hair grey to match the roots. Would you ever consider that? 🌻
Thank you for your kind words 💖 I had been thinking of dyeing the lenghts grey, or doing highlights, and I talked to my hairdresser about that. But she said that dyeing the hair grey would take many hours, and it would also be quite expensive . So I won’t do that 😊
Your hair is beautiful, the white really suits your complexion.
Thank you 💖
I've just started again, for the third time. Ugh, how i wish i had just carried on, in 2018 and then in 2022. I'm so glad I'm not the only one!
It’s not easy, but hopefully we’ll succeed this time 😊 I wish you good luck 💖

Thank you for sharing this 💖 I am not comfortable in short hair, so I don’t want to cut mine either. I wish you all the best 💖

I’m going on 4 months cold turkey with dark long brown hair. Yes the first few months are hard.
So they are. But it will get easier 💖

Hi, thank you 💖 I might try toner some day. Thank you for the tip.
@@Kati-almiel you are most welcome 🙏 🤗
You will look fabulous!

Thank you for telling your story 💖 I have thought about cutting my hair short too, but I have never had short hair. All the best to you 💖
Very beautiful!!🌺🌺🌺💐🌻
Thank you so much 💖
You just wait and see; it will suit you silver - it will be better than the dyed hair you have at present!
I hope so 😊 Thank you for your comment 💖
Because you have lovely blue eyes the silver will look perfect!
