      He thinks in layers.
      There are other ways to do it with photo realism.
      But we do appreciate the process and how he creates the illusion of multiple dimensions on a one dimensional canvas board.

    The most important thing I've learned from these M.J.S. videos is, when painting, patience is truly the main advantage.

      this is so true, my biggest downfall a few years ago was rushing detailed foilag, once I learned to just slow down a bit and be a little more patient with each brush press my paintings started looking a lot cleaner and more realistic

    EVERYONE in my large family can draw and paint - except me. I really admire people who can render the pictures in their heads into art.❤

      I have one of those families, too. It is a hereditary talent, my mom passed it down to me and my brother, but not my sister. She turned out to be a mega athlete.
      Everybody gets at least one talent. The key is to try a bazillion things so you can find it. 😉 Have FUN!!!

    The angle of your brush strokes creates the movement of the waves. Your choice of colors is spot on. Your technical ability allows the viewer to use all of their senses to experience that particular moment and to become immersed and to become absorbed into the painting itself.

    A real genuine artist.
    I love how he uses different contrast with the paints to produce beautiful waves.
    The details are always important when painting any landscape.
    I use to use acrylics until I was introduced to oil paints and I do prefer oils.
    I love painting landscapes, I like to life paint with outdoor essentials.
    I no famous artist as I don’t live in a rich society and it is hard to get noticed for works of art.
    I love painting and even if I never get noticed it’s therapeutic and enjoyable hobby.

    Wow. Nice surprise suggestion in my feed. Very impressed. It's like Bob Ross passed the torch to a silent successor.
    The way you captured the way water gets churned in the sand and gravel, as the energy from a previous wave is getting sucked out, and the next wave is pushing in. Wow. As a person who spent most of his life on the coast, this is extremely on point. Love it

    This is so amazing!
    My uncle watches these videos as he is an artists too and looking at these videos makes him expand his knowledge
    And just like him I watch these and put the techniques into my paintings so that one day when I grow up I may be as good as my uncle and you!

    The more I watch you paint i see you are an impressionist at heart. It would be interesting to see a pointalism painting by you one day.

      @@jaclynmwvasquez Well it all depends on whos painting it, I was just suggesting an impressionistic type painting would be interesting to see using his own approach. Lastly Pointalism was part of the Impressionist movement in my eyes, they were all working together to develop something new. One is a dot the other a blob.
