My dad passed away, I guess about a month ago even though time feels weird. I started watching yours and others videos. I'm not sure why perfume and the community makes me feel not so alone. Perfume gives me an escape. Kinda an expensive escape.

I don’t like it either- due to the rubber glove/dental office vibes it gives off. Cloud, Burberry Her and Goldfield & Banks Sunset hour gives off the same smell that I despise in the BR540.
I love loulou, too. This one got compared to Angel. Not a a dupe but just that if you love Loulou, you will tend to gravitate towards Angel too. Loulou and Fatale Intese actually is also compared with Angel, which is also mentioned here. These 2, I love and will keep on buying them. ❤
The WORST blind buys for me were Perry Ellis 360 White --- 100% Cat pee. Even worse Blue Grass by Elizabeth Arden ---- 100% toilet bowl cleaner. I literally cried wearing it. Triggered a horrific feeling. Repressed bathroom memories? 😂 The weakest perfume ever was Agent Provocateur Fatale Pink. No scent. Cheap looking bottle. Full waste of money. I just re-bought Loulou today. 😊
oh, gosh, I remember my mother wearing two perfumes, Nina Ricci L'Air du Temps and Blue Grass. I don't recall what it smelled like, the last one, but after your assessment, I will not be taking a stroll down memory lane, LOL!
The pink and grey bottle Agent Provococateur was such a disapointment! I heard one of my fave youtubers rave about it so often, when I came accroos it discounted in a local store I was lucky they had a tester there. To my nose it smells vile. Strong PASS

I think it would be interesting to hear about fragrances you used to love or hate in the past and that you feel the opposite way about now. As someone who grew up in the 70s, and started buying perfume in the 80s, whenever I come accross my old loves I sniff them and I either don't recognize them (reformulation?), or find them nothing special. It's surprising how many of the super popular more 70/80/90s fragrances are still around and well loved, like Oscar de la Renta, Loulou, Obsession, Anaïs Anaïs, Poison, Opium, Angel, CK1, L'Eau d'Issey etc. I think as we age our tastes and maybe our senses too change and I notice that whenever I revisit scents from my past. Have you had similar experiences?

Living where I do and rarely leaving my mountain property anyway (things like Sephora or department store are about 100 miles away), everything I've purchased so far has been a blind buy. Because of that, I have researched using your channel and a couple other favorites, decided what I think I might like, then looked for dupes made by houses like New Brand or La Rive and also, purchased small samples for $2-3.50 each. So far, there have been no massive fails, probably because I have a very unsophisticated nose and everything smells exotic and awesome to me, LOL. Well, I guess the Vince Camuto Fiori body spray that was supposed to dupe Chance Eau Tendre was close to a fail as it barely has a scent! As well, I won't pay as much as $20 for any one thing (I know, but I cannot justify it when I rarely see people other than my husband), and generally, the dupes are less than $12 for a 3 oz bottle, sometimes half that. They probably don't smell exactly like the higher end scents, but they're close enough for chicken farmer me. I did get a Mon Guerlain sample today in the mail, along with Chloe, Alien Goddess and Gucci Bloom to add to the other few samples I own. And I have dupes from both those dupe houses for Alien, Poison Girl, Hypnotic Poison, Armani Code, Aqua de Gioia, Ariana Grande Cloud and Coco Mademoiselle plus I have Fancy and Fancy Love (prefer the Fancy Love over Fancy-I also found Fancy a bit sharp, as you said) and Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely. I guess I'll be scented for years to come now, LOL! Thanks, Maria. I really appreciate your perspectives. I seriously have to cut myself off soon. I have one more coming, a dupe for Paco Robanne Olympea from New Brand called "Hola". Just had to get that one before I quit! 😁😁~Cynthia

I do wait until after morning barn chores to douse myself since avian species are sometimes adversely affected by aromatics, but trust me, douse myself I do! I am really having a blast!

New Brand Phantom is Mugler Alien, New Brand Seduction is Armani Code, La Rive Sweet Hope is Hypnotic Poison, La Rive Fleur de Femme is Poison Girl, La Rive Madame in Love is Gucci Flora, La Rive Aqua is Armani Aqua di Gioia, New Brand Cool is Coco Mademoiselle, Armaf Club de Nuit is Coco Mademoiselle and Victoria's Secret Midnight Bloom is Ariana Grande Cloud, though it is a body mist, not an EDP. They are not as strong or long lasting, but at times, you can find the La Rive fragrances for as low as $7 for 3.4 oz EDP. I have all those mentioned except for New Brand Cool. For those prices, you can douse yourself with abandon, LOL. You can find a good list of La Rive dupes on Fragrantica, I think, but they have a limited list of New Brand fragrances, unfortunately. I actually would love to know what fragrances your chickens liked or hated. I mean, I know you don't need angry chickens but it would still be fascinating info. I know a friend of mine stopped wearing her jasmine fragrance because her cat HATED IT (apparently that's common). I also have a friend who is a zoo keeper and fragrance is a common enrichment tool for many of the animals.
OMG girl! Greetings from New Zealand! I'm 100% with you on Lou Lou, I remember it from my childhood and that it smelled amazing on my mom... they've actually reformulated it to smell like gasoline, rubber and bug spray! It makes me gag too!
Hey Maria, so many of these are part of my collection. All of them share the same quality. To me they are good only in November and February. December and January no, because December calls for orangey cinnemony piney warmth, and January calls for the daring snow winter ones. However, Lu Lu, Agent Provocateur, Girl of Now Forever, Nero Assoluto, they all require cold, but not humid. They are good for those in-between cold months and in very very small sprays!!! 😁
I also blind bought Fatale Intense....and I love it!! Love it!! It's like an unaplolgiticly tawdry version of Lolita Lempicka. Hence why I imagine it's a more polarizing love or hate it fragrance. I can also see the resemblance to Angel. It's like the crowd pleasing version thereof. It has it's spicy sweetness without it's richness/overbearing stamp. Again, what it lacks in sophistication it makes up for in cheap fun, lol.
My worst blind buy was Lolita Lempicka- the liquorice based perfume; I found it nauseating. It was the most expensive fly spray that I ever bought!John Paul Gaultier-Classique; was way too sweet and nauseating and I am ashamed to say that I actually binned it🤦🏾♀️.
I was about to do the same…just trash some of the Zara’s but my local Goodwill said they’d be glad to take them as they like to make bundles and sell them.💃🏽
Ha!! Lolita Lempicka, the orginal version, is my favorite perfume ever. It's sweet and spicy warmth mixed with it's mossy wet greenness is just magic to my nose.
Loulou is iconic ❤ The whole creation of this perfume has a beautiful story that explains the bottle design, colors and also the scent. It is more for younger women by the way.
Oh, gosh! LOU LOU! Absolutely no for me with that one. Horrendous. I have olfactory ptsd at the mere mention of it. I feel like I want to 🤢🤮 just from seeing the bottle on screen, that’s how much I am revolted by it. My dad gave it to me as a gift when I was a teen and I wondered if he actually hated me after receiving it 🤣😂.

I actually got a complement from one of the guys who lives in and hangs outside my building. He said I smelt really good am I wearing Angel. I was stunned, cause I live in Brooklyn and a tough guy saying I smell good was a wtheck moment for me lol. To each his nose I say!

So happy to dodge the burning latex cat suit! And I toyed with getting it for awhile. My bottle of Roberto Cavalli is also sitting in my declutter box, just waiting for a new home. Quelque Fleurs and Cinema are not exactly gag worthy but are roommates with Roberto. Yes, we desperately need Mercari!

There's a lot of synthetics used in the more recent perfumes, that usually anyone over 35 can detect. if they've always been a perfumista. It smells like saccharine, and most smell like watered down fruit with patchouli juice( the pink juice especially), and who can forget that promise of vanilla, and what you get is burnt vanilla sugared wafers...lol I agree that there is a lot of hype with these new frags, and that's why I will spend up to 200 dollars for a Vintage.

I got major blind buy fails with many inexpensive or so-called celebrity fragrances. All either recommended on TH-cam or bought at TJmaxx. These days I decided not to buy those. Chopard Casmir is another one that is hyped up as an amazing cheapie... It's synthetic sweetness goes completely acrid on my skin. Absolutely nothing cosey about it. A 100% rubber-off.
There's a fragrance that everyone seems to love called Sintra by Memo. It's described as a fluffy marshmallow scent and I think it's the most disgusting thing that I have ever smelled. It makes me gag and I just can't understand why I don't smell what others smell.
What a fun video! Some perfumes I hate (Yep, blind buys mostly): Givenchy Ange ou Demon. Hate this one with a burning passion. Pascal Morabito Or. Blind buy in your recommendation, but you are so right: it always is very personal. Don't hate this one that much, but it's most definitely not me. Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely Chopard Wish. Both too sharp, not pleasant, and stings my nose Chanel 1957. Not a blind buy thank God, but I got a sample. I think I am just not a Chanel kind of person. I really don't love any Chanel fragrance that I have smelled.
Just found your channel. Thanks for the laughs about LouLou! I just made the same mistake a few weeks ago and got a bottle at Shoppers. LouLou back in the day was quite different, more powdery and incensey. My bottle is in a purgatory box along with Agent Provocateur and a few others. I can't even try to sell it because the purple band around the lid was broken inside the box when I opened it.

Maria, the Lou Lou Parfum bottle (which I had at one time) looked even more like a space ship! I was okay back in the day, but I don't wear it now. Best tip from the video: the sleeve comes off the Armaf Le Femme bottle! If I owned that one, I would definitely take it off.
I just tested GON Forever yesterday and had the same experience. I wanted to wash it off! It was so obnoxious. I do love the Shine version though and the original is nice too.

I just had a recent cheapie blind buy fail....I bought a bunch of under $15 perfumes from Amazon to take a chance that I might find a hidden gem. I purchased one called Double Diamond ($10.49 US doll hairs). I was hoping for a nice light powdery fragrance. Instead..... it smelled like my grandmother's farm bathroom as a kid.... kind of a combination of toilet bowl freshener mixed with Chubby, the farm dog. But not in a good way! Apparently the old saying really is true.... he who smelt it..... DEALT IT!!!!!!

My biggest disappointment (and many will disagree) is Tom Ford’s Black Orchid. I mean, I LOVE the dry down - LOVE IT - but it’s one of those perfumes where 1) I need to spray myself an hour prior to leaving the house or else I’ll embarrassed myself and 2) I MUST take an aspirin prior to application or else I’ll get the biggest headache. BUT…I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Tom Ford’s Velvet Orchid. Mmm, it’s addicting, Sexy and def (right now) my signature scent. Btw - I’ve never heard of or smelled any of those fragrances you’ve mentioned and I’m sad you don’t have Mercari. It’s bc of Mercari that I can build this beautiful perfume collection and sell the ones I’m tired of. Happy Mother’s Day, Maria 😊

Love this video! I have a very recent FAIL. DUA frags Butterbeer. Description says notes are vanilla ice cream, butterscotch, sugar, vanilla cream...sounds delicious. How could it possibly go wrong, right? I pull it out of the box and before I even spray it, I'm assaulted with an intense oud and/or saffron note. I DETEST OUD/SAFFRON. I don't understand how n why this perfume is listed as a Gourmand with all these vanilla type notes but all I can smell is the notes I hate the most and wouldn't even want it if it was given to me for free. Very disappointed. But I bought other ones from DUA that worked out well so it sort of made up for it but I'm just left feeling confused...how did that get left out of the scent description?? Edit-oh Gosh, Nero Assoluto too, blind buy fail for me too! Oh I can't stand it LOL. I have it up on Mercari right now. I don't even know what it's trying to be but it needs to stop because it ain't workin'. Lol.
I guess it's a case of different notes for different folks. Rasasi's Shaghaf pour femme is actually one of my best blind buys of 2022. I was so confused I went to sniff my bottle again but nope, not picking up any synthetic quality, the notes blend beautifully. It shares a similar scent DNA to CH's Good Girl and Lattafa's Dirham Wardi for sure. My worst blind buy would definitely be Armaf's Club de nuit intense woman.
It’s too bad you don’t have Mercari in Canada. You can get samples as small as 3ml and up in many cases. And you can save a bunch on bottles that may have been used only once or twice. I love it! 🙂
I agree with the rasasi one, it was a blind but motivated by good reviews, I realised it was a mix of both of the worst perfume from my collection shine/ bint hooran Not only it smells unpleasant, but now I accumulated another perfume that combines my worst perfumes.

Just really started getting into fragrances about a year ago, and blind bought a few things.....worst was a small bottle of Juicy Couture 'Couture La La' at Ross Dress for Less, and wasn't crazy about it when I got home.....too citrusy for me, but an 'easy reach' on a hot summer day! The next week I went to VS and got the purse size 'Bombshell', got it home and realized it was the flanker Bombshell Beach. (No indication of that on the little box). Kept it, but it's just OK.....good for summer! 😃
Some of my biggest fails I've purchased is the Stephany Ginza line by avon. To be fair, The bottles, packaging,and story behind them are really gorgeous. But, all the fragrances are very,very simple. To the point that the the smells is almost non existent. They're all so light and airy. You could spray yourself 50 times and not offend anyone,or gag them with the fragrance. They are not for me, I like to make a statement and to be noticed with my fragrance. You truely won't with this line of fragrances. This is definitely for the people who like the simple,clean,and gentle. That's definitely not me🤣

I love loulou, too. This one got compared to Angel. Not a a dupe but just that if you love Loulou, you will tend to gravitate towards Angel too. Loulou and Fatale Intese actually is also compared with Angel, which is also mentioned here. These 2, I love and will keep on buying them. ❤
The WORST blind buys for me were Perry Ellis 360 White --- 100% Cat pee. Even worse Blue Grass by Elizabeth Arden ---- 100% toilet bowl cleaner. I literally cried wearing it. Triggered a horrific feeling. Repressed bathroom memories? 😂 The weakest perfume ever was Agent Provocateur Fatale Pink. No scent. Cheap looking bottle. Full waste of money.

The pink and grey bottle Agent Provococateur was such a disapointment! I heard one of my fave youtubers rave about it so often, when I came accroos it discounted in a local store I was lucky they had a tester there. To my nose it smells vile. Strong PASS

I think it would be interesting to hear about fragrances you used to love or hate in the past and that you feel the opposite way about now. As someone who grew up in the 70s, and started buying perfume in the 80s, whenever I come accross my old loves I sniff them and I either don't recognize them (reformulation?), or find them nothing special. It's surprising how many of the super popular more 70/80/90s fragrances are still around and well loved, like Oscar de la Renta, Loulou, Obsession, Anaïs Anaïs, Poison, Opium, Angel, CK1, L'Eau d'Issey etc. I think as we age our tastes and maybe our senses too change and I notice that whenever I revisit scents from my past. Have you had similar experiences?

Living where I do and rarely leaving my mountain property anyway (things like Sephora or department store are about 100 miles away), everything I've purchased so far has been a blind buy. Because of that, I have researched using your channel and a couple other favorites, decided what I think I might like, then looked for dupes made by houses like New Brand or La Rive and also, purchased small samples for $2-3.50 each. So far, there have been no massive fails, probably because I have a very unsophisticated nose and everything smells exotic and awesome to me, LOL. Well, I guess the Vince Camuto Fiori body spray that was supposed to dupe Chance Eau Tendre was close to a fail as it barely has a scent! As well, I won't pay as much as $20 for any one thing (I know, but I cannot justify it when I rarely see people other than my husband), and generally, the dupes are less than $12 for a 3 oz bottle, sometimes half that. They probably don't smell exactly like the higher end scents, but they're close enough for chicken farmer me. I did get a Mon Guerlain sample today in the mail, along with Chloe, Alien Goddess and Gucci Bloom to add to the other few samples I own. And I have dupes from both those dupe houses for Alien, Poison Girl, Hypnotic Poison, Armani Code, Aqua de Gioia, Ariana Grande Cloud and Coco Mademoiselle plus I have Fancy and Fancy Love (prefer the Fancy Love over Fancy-I also found Fancy a bit sharp, as you said) and Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely. I guess I'll be scented for years to come now, LOL! Thanks, Maria. I really appreciate your perspectives. I seriously have to cut myself off soon. I have one more coming, a dupe for Paco Robanne Olympea from New Brand called "Hola". Just had to get that one before I quit! 😁😁~Cynthia

They are not as strong or long lasting, but at times, you can find the La Rive fragrances for as low as $7 for 3.4 oz EDP. I have all those mentioned except for New Brand Cool. For those prices, you can douse yourself with abandon, LOL. You can find a good list of La Rive dupes on Fragrantica, I think, but they have a limited list of New Brand fragrances, unfortunately. I actually would love to know what fragrances your chickens liked or hated. I mean, I know you don't need angry chickens but it would still be fascinating info. I know a friend of mine stopped wearing her jasmine fragrance because her cat HATED IT (apparently that's common). I also have a friend who is a zoo keeper and fragrance is a common enrichment tool for many of the animals.

Hey Maria, so many of these are part of my collection. All of them share the same quality. To me they are good only in November and February. December and January no, because December calls for orangey cinnemony piney warmth, and January calls for the daring snow winter ones. However, Lu Lu, Agent Provocateur, Girl of Now Forever, Nero Assoluto, they all require cold, but not humid. They are good for those in-between cold months and in very very small sprays!!! 😁

I also blind bought Fatale Intense....and I love it!! Love it!! It's like an unaplolgiticly tawdry version of Lolita Lempicka. Hence why I imagine it's a more polarizing love or hate it fragrance.
I can also see the resemblance to Angel. It's like the crowd pleasing version thereof. It has it's spicy sweetness without it's richness/overbearing stamp. Again, what it lacks in sophistication it makes up for in cheap fun, lol.

Ha!! Lolita Lempicka, the orginal version, is my favorite perfume ever. It's sweet and spicy warmth mixed with it's mossy wet greenness is just magic to my nose.

Oh, gosh! LOU LOU! Absolutely no for me with that one. Horrendous. I have olfactory ptsd at the mere mention of it. I feel like I want to 🤢🤮 just from seeing the bottle on screen, that’s how much I am revolted by it. My dad gave it to me as a gift when I was a teen and I wondered if he actually hated me after receiving it 🤣😂.

There's a lot of synthetics used in the more recent perfumes, that usually anyone over 35 can detect. if they've always been a perfumista. It smells like saccharine, and most smell like watered down fruit with patchouli juice( the pink juice especially), and who can forget that promise of vanilla, and what you get is burnt vanilla sugared wafers...lol
I agree that there is a lot of hype with these new frags, and that's why I will spend up to 200 dollars for a Vintage.

I got major blind buy fails with many inexpensive or so-called celebrity fragrances. All either recommended on TH-cam or bought at TJmaxx. These days I decided not to buy those. Just found your channel. Thanks for the laughs about LouLou! I just made the same mistake a few weeks ago and got a bottle at Shoppers. LouLou back in the day was quite different, more powdery and incensey. My bottle is in a purgatory box along with Agent Provocateur and a few others. I can't even try to sell it because the purple band around the lid was broken inside the box when I opened it.

Maria, the Lou Lou Parfum bottle (which I had at one time) looked even more like a space ship! I was okay back in the day, but I don't wear it now. Best tip from the video: the sleeve comes off the Armaf Le Femme bottle! If I owned that one, I would definitely take it off.

I just had a recent cheapie blind buy fail....I bought a bunch of under $15 perfumes from Amazon to take a chance that I might find a hidden gem. I purchased one called Double Diamond ($10.49 US doll hairs). I was hoping for a nice light powdery fragrance. Instead..... it smelled like my grandmother's farm bathroom as a kid.... kind of a combination of toilet bowl freshener mixed with Chubby, the farm dog. But not in a good way! Apparently the old saying really is true.... he who smelt it..... DEALT IT!!!!!!

My biggest disappointment (and many will disagree) is Tom Ford’s Black Orchid. I mean, I LOVE the dry down - LOVE IT - but it’s one of those perfumes where 1) I need to spray myself an hour prior to leaving the house or else I’ll embarrassed myself and 2) I MUST take an aspirin prior to application or else I’ll get the biggest headache. BUT…I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Tom Ford’s Velvet Orchid. Mmm, it’s addicting, Sexy and def (right now) my signature scent.
Btw - I’ve never heard of or smelled any of those fragrances you’ve mentioned and I’m sad you don’t have Mercari. It’s bc of Mercari that I can build this beautiful perfume collection and sell the ones I’m tired of.

Wow…Lou Lou is still in existence? I wore it in high school when it first came out…my bottle looked diff however. Maybe it’s been reformulated?? (For the worse clearly). One scent I loathe - Tiziana Terenzi Kirke. I also dislike Black Perfecto. 🤷🏾♀️

Love this video! I have a very recent FAIL. DUA frags Butterbeer. Description says notes are vanilla ice cream, butterscotch, sugar, vanilla cream...sounds delicious. How could it possibly go wrong, right? I pull it out of the box and before I even spray it, I'm assaulted with an intense oud and/or saffron note. I DETEST OUD/SAFFRON. I don't understand how n why this perfume is listed as a Gourmand with all these vanilla type notes but all I can smell is the notes I hate the most and wouldn't even want it if it was given to me for free. Very disappointed. But I bought other ones from DUA that worked out well so it sort of made up for it but I'm just left feeling confused...how did that get left out of the scent description?? Edit-oh Gosh, Nero Assoluto too, blind buy fail for me too! Oh I can't stand it LOL. I have it up on Mercari right now. I don't even know what it's trying to be but it needs to stop because it ain't workin'. Lol.

I guess it's a case of different notes for different folks. Rasasi's Shaghaf pour femme is actually one of my best blind buys of 2022. I was so confused I went to sniff my bottle again but nope, not picking up any synthetic quality, the notes blend beautifully. It shares a similar scent DNA to CH's Good Girl and Lattafa's Dirham Wardi for sure. My worst blind buy would definitely be Armaf's Club de nuit intense woman.

It’s too bad you don’t have Mercari in Canada. You can get samples as small as 3ml and up in many cases. And you can save a bunch on bottles that may have been used only once or twice. I love it! 🙂

I agree with the rasasi one, it was a blind but motivated by good reviews, I realised it was a mix of both of the worst perfume from my collection shine/ bint hooran Not only it smells unpleasant, but now I accumulated another perfume that combines my worst perfumes.

Oh my gosh... your reaction to sniffing LouLou... over and over again! 🤢🤮😂🤣 Poor Maria...I don't think I've ever had such a strong reaction to perfume. I must admit, I actually quite like Fatale Intense and it's one of my going out nighttime fragrances 😉

The packaging was beyond tacky in Armaf le femme. Scent was ''ah-ight'' but not worth the $60 my friend paid at a mall kiosk. Maria literally ROFLMAO at your reactions to the perfumes 😆 everyything from"lou lou smells like catwoman suit" and when u said youre husbands reaction

Olympea Legend and L'Elephant..I can barely type the words without wanting to vomit..and I researched the heck out of them before blind buying..I have had a ton of disappointing blind buys but nothing as vile as these two...

Great video! Just really started getting into fragrances about a year ago, and blind bought a few things.....worst was a small bottle of Juicy Couture 'Couture La La' at Ross Dress for Less, and wasn't crazy about it when I got home.....too citrusy for me, but an 'easy reach' on a hot summer day! The next week I went to VS and got the purse size 'Bombshell', got it home and realized it was the flanker Bombshell Beach. (No indication of that on the little box). Kept it, but it's just OK.....good for summer! 😃

Some of my biggest fails I've purchased is the Stephany Ginza line by avon. To be fair, The bottles, packaging,and story behind them are really gorgeous. But, all the fragrances are very,very simple. To the point that the the smells is almost non existent. They're all so light and airy. You could spray yourself 50 times and not offend anyone,or gag them with the fragrance. They are not for me, I like to make a statement and to be noticed with my fragrance. You truely won't with this line of fragrances. This is definitely for the people who like the simple,clean,and gentle. That's definitely not me🤣
