Yes, Tarja is and always will be the goddess of symphonic metal. She is just perfect. Please don't get stuck with Tarja in Nightwish, react to her solo work. She has amazing songs that show all her versatility
This is why NW became what it is today. If there was not this more classical style in her voice, I wonder if they were that famous nowadays... Also Tuomas wrote these song for her voice.
They wouldn't be as it was there point of difference and the music was more gothic back then. They didn't really become "Symphonic" until the very end of Tarja's time.
I totally agree with you. I love Floor, But Tarja s voice is one of the reasons Nightwish is my favorite group. They were also the first symphonic metal group I ever heard. There are just certainly Nightwish classics where no one will be able to match Tarja’s voice.❤️👏🏻
It's really funny that you say Tarja didn't fit in the band. It can be seen that you know nothing more about the formation of the band or about symphonic metal.. Tuomas came to her house and asked her to sing his demo. What he didn't know was that in the meantime she had started studying classical music and her voice had become dramatic. Tuomas wanted an acoustic band. Nightwish chose to be a heavy metal band to support her strong voice. It was only thanks to her and Tuomas's decision that the symphonic metal subgenre was born. Tarja was the first voice. Floor undeniably keeps Nightwish afloat with her personality and talent, otherwise the ship would have sunk long ago. But Tarja is the mother of symphonic metal. Thank God she is no longer with them on that sinking ship. So, how could Tarja not fit into a symphonic metal band, a genre she helped create? And if you conclude from the comments under Floor's videos that she is the goddess for all, then you are quite naive. Nightwish had three female singers and each of them has its own fan base.
Yes. Tarja is the Godmother of Symphonic Metal. 🤘🏻 To say she didn’t fit in the band is ridiculous. Tarja together with Nightwish was unique and magical…just perfect..

Don't be ashamed of having a favourite. I always say that Tarja was the one angel that put Nightwish on the Symphonic Metal scene. The next evolution of Nightwish and Tuomas composing was when Anette joined the band. Both singers was magical in their own way and crucial for the evolution of Nightwish. When Floor took over from Anette the final era of Nightwish was a fact. Floor is also my favourite for her magical way of connecting with the audience and also making the band look so happy together again. To sum it up - no need to compare singers, just enjoy each era.
Bullshit written above, Holopainen wrote music as it was inspiration. What kind of nonsense are you talking about that he composed music for someone or under someone’s voice, he just composed music, and whoever had the ability sang these songs, for example Tarja whined when recording the album, that you have to take too high notes, Annette is generally hard case, even I can cover their entire repertoire, of course it will not be opera vocals or classical vocals, but those who hear it never hears others will be able to say with the same degree of rightness that these songs were written for me (complete crap of course)
For me, this and a couple more songs as Sleeping Sun will allways be Tarja-songs for me even though i love Floor and thinks she does other songs better 🙏
Same here.I heard them for so many years here in finland that her voice stuck in the head.Floor is maybe the best singer there is but tarjas voice was planted in my brain in the 90's.And look at her in the sleeping sun video.Even Anette had a few really nice ones.So I guess I like them all.
I always prefer Tarja with the slower vocal songs. Not necessarily slower songs but the ones where her vocals have time to breathe as it works much better for her classical style. It is always personal preference, I'm not bothered by accent at all more so by the timing of the vocals. Deep Silent complete, Come Cover Me, Forever Yours etc are the ones that I think Tarja nails.
Love Tarja. But fair warning. Judging her on one song when she was constrained by the band members to only do that which they all agreed to. Her solo career is so vast and diverse. A 3.5 octave range. A lyrical mezzo soprano who can belt up to Db6 but has developed that deep warm round chest voice. She was s founder of the band with Emppu and Tuomas. They knew her from high school and reached out to her to form a band. There was no such genre as symphonic metal back then just a few people experimenting. They helped create the genre, there was no roadmap. No ear pieces to feed the sound back to you so you could hear what the audience was hearing. She just had to sing over the instruments. Technology has come a long way in 18 years since this was recorded. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarja_Turunen 25 years summed up here. She reinvented herself several times. The span of styles, genres she has turned her hand too is breathtaking. Still rocking it at 45 now. Amazing lady.
Tarja is to this day my favourite Nightwish singer, even though I absolutely love all three of them. Their best work is still with Tarja in my opinion.
i love this "old" version the most, because the mix let´s the orchestral work louder than in all other official live versions, and i freakin´ love that orchestral track ... it is aviable in youtube to enjoy and i like your reaction videos Singer´s Eras: Tarja Turunen from Start 1997 to this concert 2005 Anette Olzon : 2007-2012 Floor Jansen : 2012- Nightwish leaves the stages
Tarja is the OG. I felt in love with nighwish because of her. This concert was pretty tragic back then. After this brilliant concert tarja got kicked out of the band. Floor fits well, but i think the oldschool nightwish had better songwriting.
@@BigzampanoXXL You can disagree, sure. But why are their old records way more beloved than every thing after Imaginarium? I know many NW fans who love floor but dislike the last two records. :-) I personally think tuomas reached his musical peak with Imaginarium. His last good one was 'the greatest show on earth'. The rest was 'okay-ish'. But hey, opinions are opinions are opinions, right? :-D
@@nietzscheente1271 agree. And I think that Tuomas really lost his muse with Tarja. DPP with Anette is great in terms of songwriting, but half of the songs are also about Tarja. But Imaginaerum was also still great. Floor is capable of singing everything, but even she cannot replace the missing magic on the new albums. It's probably a good thing that NW is taking a break. Hopefully Tuomas will find inspiration again.
@@nietzscheente1271 I understand, but the question is: what is quality? most selling records? I like the old albums from the very beginning. They are totally different, Tuomas had evolved, human nature is totally different, means that it has less quality (songwriting, composing)? Everybody has a different feeling and that is the only thing that counts IMO.
@@BigzampanoXXL No. I don't talk about 'quality' or selling success. I talk about passion, energy, melody, story telling and guitar work. Old nightwish was more melodic power metal with gothic/folk elements. Modern nightwish is hans zimmer movie score with some river dance melodies. I (and many old NW fans) prefer first. And don't forget, nightwish excist because of tarja. Tuomas wrote most songs with her in mind. After her, he focused on super epic movie scores and less on classic melodic metal. :-)
Nightwish - Nemo (with Floor) Wacken 2013 Same concert as ghost love score. Then you have the comparison. Btw keep an eye on Jukka the drummer. Stick swings all over the place in the second half of the song. 😁 Tarja is opera and great too. Floor is an allrounder. And for me Nightwish with Floor was never better. Ghost love score Is an integral part of the playlist in Nightwish concerts since Floor is in. Was again a nice video with you two.
Tarja, another kind of metal goddess :) Our dark angel of music, beautifully melancholic and romantic. Her classical sound is what created Nightwish as we know it today in the first place, Tuomas meant for Nightwish to be an acoustic campfire music-like project, but when he heard Tarja sing he decided the music needed to be grander to fit her voice and that's how they shaped the entire genre of Symphonic Metal. I do think it's fair to say Floor suits the band better but Nightwish has never sounded more magical to me than when Tarja was still with the band ❣
The thing with Tarja and Floor is that they really don't need the mic... They got unbelievable power in their voice and Nightwish is or was very different from basically everyone else with the fact that they didn't stop playing to make space for the vocalist... Vocalist has had the chops to take her space no matter what the band is doing. And this is where Annette failed quite badly and this is why the albums done with her are more conventional... And this is why there are no official lives off of her era on the older songs. She just couldn't pull them off like Tarja and Floor can... These two are just built different! Very rare talents and it is quite fortunate they found Floor. We wouldn't have Nightwish today if they had not hit it out of the park with the third vocalist.
Every song from the 2013 Wacken performance was written for one of the other singers. Floor had joined the band about 10 months before that concert as an emergency replacement singer for Annette. (See the video... Please learn the Setlist in 48 hours). Elan was on the setlist at Wacken and the video is available. Another interesting thing to consider is that most people at the 2013 Wacken show had never seen or heard Nightwish with Floor as the singer. When she came out to their first song of the concert, Dark Chest of Wonders, she was introducing herself to 82,000 fans.
I was listening Nightwish from very first album,so reasonable for new fans Floor fits in band more, sure she is great, she have power but Tarja have magic which I doubt new fans ever understand.Overall great reaction of great song!!!
Nemo from Wacken 2013 ( Jukka and his stick twirls)or maybe Buenos Aires 2018 (Floor's outfit - which my Wife wants) . Think they did it at Hellfest 2023 or Deichbrand Festival 2023!? Liking both of you together - I think couples are much more preferred by subscribers. More please...😊
The first wave of classical or classical-ish female vox in the lead role in metal bands actually came in Norway in the 1990's: * The Third And The Mortal -- with Kari Rueslåtten (pronounced REW-eh-SLOH-ten) on vocals for the first EP and first LP in 1993 and 1994 respectively, making it the first time this combo had been done as a permanent feature of a metal band. Their debut LP was actually the inspiration for the formation of Nightwish in 1996. * Theatre Of Tragedy -- with Liv Kristine on vox for most of their tenure, the initial albums had most of the music set up as small plays between her and a male growler. Somewhat similar to Epica today, but doom metal instead of symphonic metal. * Tristania -- with Vibeke Stene on vox for most of their existence. Much, much heavier than the other bands, combined with a male growler. * Sins Of Thy Beloved -- with Anita Auglend on vocals for most of their existence. * Dismal Euphony -- with Linn Achre Tveit as the initial female vocalists. Interestingly, four out of these five -- all but the first one -- were from around the same city, Stavanger. Besides, Therion, who are Swedish, there is also another Swedish band, Draconian. Therion I believe started before The Third And The Mortal, but didn't do the classical-inspired female thing initially. Draconian started in 1996, but their female vocals are more contemporary in style. The Dutch band The Gathering also started out early, but I believe their first singer was male, and besides their most well-known female vocalist, Anneke van Giersbergen, again uses contemporary vocal styles.
Dave and Ash. I don't know how familiar ya'll are with Epica or remember if Ash liked listening to Jinjer. I used to hate death metal growling/screaming in music. When I started listening to Epica I learned to respect it. Then I started to not mind it so much. Now I love it if in the same song there's the "normal" singing parts like the way Jinjer does. My first time listening to Jinjer I hated the sound. Now I'm a fan. A couple of good songs to get you started with Epica are from the Omega Alive streaming show they did during covid. Skeleton Key and Unchained Utopia From their Retrospect concert there is Sancta Terra where Floor makes a guest appearance. If Ash doesn't like growling/screaming Epica might be a good band to ease her into it. You have the contrast of Mark's growling against Simone's beautiful soprano.
Tarja, our dark queen 🤟🖤. My the most favorite voice and Nightwish era. I saw Tarja last week at a concert after dark in a big rock festival. Her charisma, energy and voice...I was absolutely amazed. Nemo is not my favorite song with her voice. This song was made as a radio hit and is too mainstream for me. I love her more now in her solo career than when she was in Nightwish. But Tarja + Nightwish was pure magic. Floor is great, but it's not the same anymore. Tarja is unique. Her voice brought me to metal. Floor can sing classically, but not like Tarja, who studied classical singing in Finland and Germany. Tarja is a master of her craft and sings classical concerts around Europe. But Floor has a more trained chest voice and rock vocals more than Tarja. To say that Floor can do the same as Tarja and more is far from the truth and if you listen to Tarja's stuff and Floor's stuff, you can see the difference. Each of them is exceptional in a different way. I love you Tarja Turunen and I miss you so much in Nightwish but don't come back. You seem happier now than you ever were with them and you really shine on stage.
Immerse yourself in the world of unearthly voice. I recommend making a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world. Meet Diana Ankudinova! 1) super unique voice (dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones); 2) the most complex vocal techniques, a bewitching voice; 3) Diana sings in 6 languages : English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Arabic and any musical genre; 4) incredible charisma, artistry and living of any song; 5) a range of 4 octaves, which at the age of 19 is far from the limit and will continue to grow; 6) a large army of fans around the world; 7) an independent artist, without producers and labels, only with the support of fans and reactors like you; 8) more than 16 thousand reactions. Some reactions have 3.7 million views. The incredible fate of a girl found with a broken collarbone at a bus stop and ended up in an orphanage.

Nightwish Army, New Zealand Division reporting. I love the "old" and the "new" Nightwish. Floor is great at many songs (especially GLS), but there are some songs which Tarja cannot be beaten. This one for example, also Phantom of the Opera, Sleeping Sun, Dead Boy's Poem.
Great reaction - Yes, as already mentioned in the comments, you can find versions of this song with Floor from different concerts. Maybe you should do series - in order, Wacken, London, Tampere, Buenos Aires and then last year there is also a high quality live from Hellfest 2022 recorded by ARTE - I was at that concert, (and London, and Hamburg) Floor does both the Tarja and Anette era songs justice. She does not try to copy them, but they are just fantastic none the less.
Yes i know floor jansen can hit the high noted eaisly and can do it all but Tarja's voice is more warmer and darker and i think she is the reason why nightwish got the fame eariler
Together with Tarja, Nightwish were a unique band that created a new subgenre of metal. Tarja had it all: voice, style, charisma. Thanks to her voice, Tuomas decided to make the band a heavy metal band and not an acoustic one. She got them to the top. She was with them for 9 years. Then the egomaniac Tuomas decided to fire her because she afforded herself to have her own needs too. She showed more character and courage in her departure than rest of the band. Marko has gotten wiser with age, he also recently left the band and apologized to Tarja for everything they did to her in 2005. Without Tarja, there would be no Nigtwish band for Floor to sing in. Now Nightwish is an ordinary dying band, if they didn't have songs from Tarja's era, they would be dead already. Floor, was excellent before she came to NW, but they were unable to use her abilities on any studio album. Fortunately, we still have our Finnish Diva Tarja here, who not only broke out of the shadow of Nightwish, but even recently surpassed them in terms of the quality of her music. Live long, queen. For me you are the one and only forever, whether you sing rock, classical or electronic music, your voice is a gift from God. And you are a gift to us all, beautiful inside and out.
Agree 100%. And the fact is, she also has a classical career in addition to career in metal. Her voice is very powerful and very different from any of the other metal singers. Totally unique.
It's cool to have Ash with you reacting to videos...Finally a bit of glamour to the show.☺️🤭 You can try Floor's version at Wacken 2013 or at Pinkpop 2022. th-cam.com/video/plNcYhtPB8Y/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/TzlaBXbat4k/w-d-xo.html
Very good reaction. Giving your opinion with respect, not putting anyone down. I think it's good to have two people reacting together sharing their opinion with each other and us watching your reaction. I suggest you watch the Official Video of Nemo with Tarja, on your own. I think her vocals in that one are the least operatic ever. I am not a big fan of opera vocals because of the excessive use of vibrato. An American female opera singer of younger generation, who reacted to several Nightwish videos, said that some hard core opera fans hate singers who sing long straight notes. They want to hear a lot of vibrato. Many people think high notes as such are opera or operatic. But that's not the case, not without a lot of vibrato. This is my layman opinion. There is a thing called forced or compulsive vibrato. Some singers can not sing a long straight note. They need to see a good vocal coach for help. There's a Finnish popular music singer who sometimes sounds like a lamb with, what I believe, is her compulsive vibrato.
Great reaction. This is such a good song. I love every version of it. I saw Tarja in concert a few weeks ago, and this was the one Nightwish song that she performed (I have also seen NW with Floor perform it). The video is on my channel if anyone wants to give a listen. Keep in mind, in many countries/languages, the letter J is pronounced as a Y, so Tarja = Tarya. In the same vein, Jansen is pronounced Yansen.
@@disobedientdolphin I would agree with you if we were not talking about the same artist singing the same song. I could care less if anyone watches my channel, much less subs, but there may be some people who are interested in seeing what Tarja is up to now, so I mentioned it. It is very much a take it or leave it offer.
Hi, Ash and Dave I can't disagree with you both on Nightwish. It's good to see or listen to the two earlier singers, for myself it helps to understand their history I've got some of the early albums, which I absolutely love, all three women have talent but Floor makers Nightwish more complete, for me. Any Nightwish after 2013 will be good to look at. It's good to see Ash and you together. Thank you both.
golden era was 2012 - 2018 unfortunately without Marco they have lost a lot. Easy to replace the bass, next to impossible to replace that vocal! Troy is fine but Marco he is not and a lot of my favourite songs involved Marco and are either never to be heard again live or far weaker without him. Wouldn't stop me from seeing them live in person but I cannot watch them on youtube as they are missing a chunk of the magic! I cringe when Floor is singing Marco lines or worse when Troy is trying to belt as it is not his strength at all 😢
*As an old Nightwish fan [since 1998], I don't have a special preference in the vocalist-case, even if I'm generally happy with Floor as Nightwish's vocalist, but I have some preferences in the case of some song-arrangements. I prefer this original "Nemo" arrangement over the newer ones, same thing with "Sleeping Sun" [ Original 1999 version = reference version]. In case of Nightwish's commercially most successful track "Amaranth" I admit I still prefer Anette's studio-version over all live-versions...* 🎵🎸🥁🎹🎵💿🎵🔥😈🔥
Tarja fans also call her a goddess. She is an opera diva and dressed accordingly at the time. She wants to be a lady. Floor is quick to make an appearance at Nightwish in clothing inspired by fantasy and the Middle Ages. She adapts the sound of film music and folk in the music of Tuomas. With the growing popularity of the Wacken video, she becomes a Valkyrie. Anyone who has experienced her as a concert visitor will find her a little gentler. End of an Era was the last concert with Tarja, 2005. Right after that she was fired. Hence the title of the DVD. Nemo was the commercial breakthrough in 2004 and made it into mainstream radio in Europe. It is the most successful Nightwish single ever. It is also the most played song at concerts and is still a staple today. Nemo and Ghost Love Score are both off the album Once. The next Nightwish concert can last. In early 2024 they will release their tenth album without a subsequent tour. In the best case, there will be a new album and tour in 2025. But that could also take until 2026 or 2027. The band have not said anything about any plans beyond 2024. The sound has changed over the years. It has been adapted to modern tastes, much to the annoyance of 2000s fans. I sometimes feel like I'm on a merry-go-round with the cast. Only Tuomas and Empuu are first cast. With vocals and bass you've reached three. Three times a band member had to be replaced at short notice and unplanned (Jukka, Anette and Marko). But it took them 25 years to do it. Annette: Nightwish - Nemo live Montreux Jazz Festival 2012 HQ Floor: Nightwish - Nemo (Wacken 2013) Overall, the pop singers or combinations of pop and classical dominate in the symphonic. Specialized classical singers like Tarja tend to be the exception. Floor is the role model today and not Tarja: Within Temptation - 'The Fire Within' (Official Music Video) EPICA - UNCHAIN UTOPIA - (ΩMEGA ALIVE) (OFFICIAL VIDEO) BEYOND THE BLACK - Dancing In The Dark (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) VISIONS OF ATLANTIS - Pirates Will Return (Official Live Video) | Napalm Records Blackbriar - Mortal Remains (Official Music Video)
Your interaction, starting at 0:45 had me in stitches. Lovely mix-up yet again. "We're gonna do a bit of Nightwish.." [Ash: whoop whoop mode activated] / "So this is the old vocalist" [Ash: shifting back to bias-free mode] "Oh, the old vocalist, so not.. [making sure it's not Floor this time] what they'd call her..?" / "She's called Tarja" [Dave not quite sensing Ash is still in Floor-mode, so he simply mentions the name of NW songster Nr1]. Great stuff (and ditto reaction all around btw) which reminded me of the other two you did, i.e. the "Phantom" with Floor & Henk & the miscommunication in that one followed by an in depth analysis of it at the start of your GLS Wacken 2013 reaction. So feel free to use my brief summation of your exchange here for your analysis in the nxt Nightwish video, which will probably be Nemo from Wacken 2013 😁 Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
Ash, I completely agree with you. I would certainly not be a Nightwish fan with Tarja on lead vocals. However, for Floor to be the singer now, there had to be the evolution from Tarja to Anette to present day. Every time I watch any footage from this concert, I am struck that this is Tarja's last ever performance. The Germans call it schadenfreude. Cheers guys
Symphonic metal is the combination of opera and metal, therefore to say that Tarja doesn't fit with the band and symphonic metal is absolutely ridiculous and stupid...Tarja is one of the co-founders of the band and one of the creators of the genre, her dark and majestic soprana voice is perfect for symphonic metal, even most of the songs were made for her voice... Floor is good but her voice is more pop, she doesn't have an operatic background. Nightwish with Floor is not symphonic metal...
I like Tarja had songs that suited her like "Wishmaster" and "Nightquest". Anette had "Scaretale". Floor is versatile and fits many songs. Floor sang "Nemo" at Wacken 2013. Also, you should check out the duet with Tarja and Within Temptation ("Paradise"). Also check out Tarja's "Undertaker" and "Innocence" (best in the video). You might want to show Ash In The Moment's top songs also. Lastly, "Sancta Terra" with Epica ft. Floor.
Definitely more Ash! I really like how open minded you both are. There are videos of Nemo with Nightwish and Floor from Wacken 2013 and Hellfest last year, along with an acoustic version (just Floor and Troy) from Planet Rock radio and I remember seeing a version from Floor's recent solo shows. Either of the first two are the best comparison with what you've just seen with Tarja.
Hi. (Sorry for my English). I'm first come on your channel. I want to suggest you legendary Russian rock band - Kino. Great music style. Lot of hits. One of them - Calm night. (Спокойная ночь). It's rock music masterpiece! You will be surprised so great music you never heard. I will waiting for your reaction.
Without Tarja all these great songs would not be there.....but I agree...If I have to choose it will always be Floor. She is the one. If you want to compare it - Wacken 2013 - Nemo with Floor. Or even better....do the complete Wacken Show. We will watch it togehter with you. All Hail Queen Floor !
Now that you have introduced her to Tarja and Floor, you have to put her on Annette as well. Not fair to leave her out. She was between Tarja and Floor. A good one with her is Amaranthe
such a great reaction guys. Most Nightwish fans are very comfortable with comparisons. Both Tarja Anette and Floor have their special places in the band. I agree 100% that Floor just connects with the audience and the band members at another level. You could list to Nemo from Wacken 2013 for a direct comparison
Great reaction! There are so many great versions of this song. The original music video (probably my favorite), this live perfromance, Floor at Wacken in 2013, acoustic version from Planet Rock with just Floor and Troy, a completely different stripped down intimate version from Floor's solo show in Amsterdam (another favorite of mine, available on her YT channel), and her amazing performance at Hellfest last summer where she holds an F5 belt for over 12 seconds. Mostly what this shows is the genius of Tuomas's writing. That this song is so good in all these different forms. I really enjoy Tarja's voice and in some songs I prefer it to Floor's (Planet Hell, The Siren). Others I prefer Floor's (her Ghost Love Score is so much better then Taja's in my opinion). Others I like them equally (like this one, Sleeping Sun). Unfortunately you will see some old Nightwish fans in the comments who never got over the band firing Tarja and feel the need to tear down any version of Nightwish other then with her. This was her final performance with Nightwish. They handed her the open letter right after this show firing her. Lots of fans turned on the band for firing her and that drove Tuomas into a deep depression. He wrote the masterpiece, Poet and the Pendulum, as a way of dealing with his depression. I have learned to treat the whole Tarja/Nightwish break up dust up like my parent's divorce. I love them both and whatever happened between them is their problem and doesn't change my love for both of them. The whole Tarja vs Floor think is dumb and in fact Tarja and Floor are friends and have performed together.
Great reaction! I have a request for Ash....to please give a listen to Ashley McBryde's Grand old Opry debut "Girl Going Nowhere" she's a newer country artist. Thanks!
I actually love all three singers but I do prefer each singer to do their own songs, for the most part. That said, I love them all anyway. I hope someday you come back to this era, but regardless, enjoy!
if you really want hard dark spell-binding Tarja (and Marko too) with Nightwish: (even some rocking on invisible guitar, head windmills, and etc theatrics too) (remember, the concerts/albums/covers must be before 2006, for Tarja's performances) (not ranked, just listed) 1. Slaying the Dreamer 2. Planet Hell 3. Wishmaster 4. Kinslayer 5. Ghost Love Score 6. The Siren 7. End of All Hope 8. Dead to the World 9. 10th Man Down
Entertaining stuff, you two 🤘 Man, this takes me back. Definitely consider doing Floors version of Nemo from Wacken 2013. You were speaking of Disney princess songs, Floor has a few covers of such, fyi.
Here is another sample of Marco's voice..... Finnish Waltari band Below Zero Video is filmed at my friend Jonne's (Korpiklaani's singer) former studio th-cam.com/video/CcPER7WIMHM/w-d-xo.html
Brilliant reaction (as always).....Funnily I thought the same initially, Floor is just the one of the most versatile and best singers in the world - I think this is fair to say. And Ghost Love Score certainly suits Floor best. However, over time and listening to all their songs old and new again and again, I feel that Tarja is absolutely stunning, and incredible singer. For certain songs Tarja is equally better suited than Floor, perhaps because the operative style adds drama and fits better with some. Beside Nemo, the best Tarja live performance is "Wishmaster", would be curios to see you react to it ! Also, Tarja has an incredible classical version of a Rammstein song "Ohne Dich" th-cam.com/video/28OpIlBG_zg/w-d-xo.html , have listen to that. Nightwish is perhaps the only band with 2 world class female lead singers, they are so blessed !!
you guys should definitely set aside an evening, and just work your way through the entire wacken 2013 setlist, lots of those songs are the ones you'll be asked to react to and this is just a way of having the all in the one place!
I you're planning a Floor "Nemo" reaction, you might as well give Anette's version a go. I think her best effort on TH-cam was at Gampel open Air in 2008.
If you want to know how Tarja really singing, I recommend react to something from her solo career, in rock/metal songs you can hear different techniques she using, not only such classical vocals, and in classical songs you can hear that she is definitely classically and operatically trained, if not Nightwish she could be one of the best opera singers, but she chose Nightwish, as first woman in such band, because of her vocal now we have so many metal bands with female vocalists, so we should be grateful. :) And because of powerful Tarja's voice Nightwish is symphonic metal band, at first it was acoustic band, so... ;) Oh, she also has electro project called Outlanders. She fits to so many music genres, and she is not only incredible singer, but also songwriter, composer, arranger, and pianist too, just amazing woman. :)
I enjoy most reactions but to actually say that Tarja doesn’t fit NW has to be one of the most uninformed comments. It is typical of those who think somehow NW started in 2913 with Floor or had no success before that. And I respect Floor and don’t get into the fake rivalry. They are good friends. But back than Tarja fit what Tuomas wrote. The band was more gothic/symphonic at least u til Mario in 2002-3 and now it’s full Hans Zimmer metal.Like new NW sound better? Fine. But to say Tarja doesn’t fit a song written for her is just silly. Tuomas and Tarja w/Empuu founded NW and this song was their biggest break thru hit. With her voice. BTW despite the change Tuomas has said that the best interpreter of his vision and his words was Tarja. Love Floor. But don’t diss the OG and don’t disrespect NW’s origins. Ghost Loce Score was written for her as well.
Thank you for saying it.
That is something that most don't want to acknowledge... Nightwish is where it is,because of Tarja.
What kind of nonsense are you talking about that he composed music for someone or under someone’s voice, he just composed music, and whoever had the ability sang these songs, for example Tarja whined when recording the album, that you have to take too high notes, Annette is generally hard case, even I can cover their entire repertoire, of course it will not be opera vocals or classical vocals, but those who hear it never hears others will be able to say with the same degree of rightness that these songs were written for me (complete crap of course)
without the line-up changes, Nightwish won´t be where they are today ... pretty sure
Nothing comes even close to Tarja era Nightwish for me, it's magic.
@@lexluthor6497 🙏👏
If manager of Tarja would see her future that way.
i love this "old" version the most, because the mix let´s the orchestral work louder than in all other official live versions, and i freakin´ love that orchestral track ... it is aviable in youtube to enjoy
and i like your reaction videos
Singer´s Eras: Tarja Turunen from Start 1997 to this concert 2005
Anette Olzon : 2007-2012
Floor Jansen : 2012- Nightwish leaves the stages
Same here👏🏻🎵🎵

Tarja is the OG. I felt in love with nighwish because of her. This concert was pretty tragic back then. After this brilliant concert tarja got kicked out of the band.
Floor fits well, but i think the oldschool nightwish had better songwriting.
I totally disagree in case of Songwriting. It’s personal taste.
Thans for reacting to the original singer our dark angel and dynamic TARJA TURUNEN! Greetings from Greece!
Nightwish - Nemo (with Floor) Wacken 2013
Same concert as ghost love score. Then you have the comparison.
Btw keep an eye on Jukka the drummer. Stick swings all over the place in the second half of the song. 😁
Tarja is opera and great too.
Thanks for the education! 🤘🏼
We love you Tarja! Watching this, knowing it was Tarja's last show cuts so deep.
I agree, the same Wacken 2013 concert
8:10 Tarja plays air guitar behind Emppu. ❤
Tarja is my favorite. Don't forget Anette though, she deserves credit too.
NIGHTWISH IS MAGIC
I was listening Nightwish from very first album,so reasonable for new fans Floor fits in band more, sure she is great, she have power but Tarja have magic which I doubt new fans ever understand.Overall great reaction of great song!!!
Speaking as a bass player, I've been called a winker many times...At least I think it was winker 😂😂
Nemo at Wacken 2013.
I am loving your reactions guys 😊

The first wave of classical or classical-ish female vox in the lead role in metal bands actually came in Norway in the 1990's:
* The Third And The Mortal -- with Kari Rueslåtten (pronounced REW-eh-SLOH-ten) on vocals for the first EP and first LP in 1993 and 1994 respectively, making it the first time this combo had been done as a permanent feature of a metal band.
Skeleton Key and Unchained Utopia
From their Retrospect concert there is Sancta Terra where Floor makes a guest appearance.
Nailed it! 💥🔨😊
Thanks Petra…👏🏻
No coments! It is Nightwish 🤘 Go on👍
This is the first nightwish song i ever heard and its still my favorite, studio version is so good, and the wacken one with floor aswell is amazing

Yes, Tarja is about an hour away from getting fired
Tarja is the main reason why I am a Nighwish fan at all. I do love Floor but Tarja is # 1.
I concur
Totally agree!
Agree 100%. And the fact is, she also has a classical career in addition to career in metal. Her voice is very powerful and very different from any of the other metal singers. Totally unique.
Agree !!!
Thank you. That’s so true…👍🏻
As a bassist, I haven't laughed as much for weeks than I did in 9:02 🤣🤣🤣
I believe Floor sings this at Wacken 2013.🤘🎸
Tarja.. Queen of symphonic metal ❤❤❤
Тарья легенда ,Тарья и есть Nightwish. Это произведение искусства.
It's cool to have Ash with you reacting to videos...Finally a bit of glamour to the show.☺️🤭
You can try Floor's version at Wacken 2013 or at Pinkpop 2022.

This last concert with Tarja is amazing!!! ❤❤
Like every concerts with Tarja…
Great reaction. This is such a good song. I love every version of it. I saw Tarja in concert a few weeks ago, and this was the one Nightwish song that she performed (I have also seen NW with Floor perform it). The video is on my channel if anyone wants to give a listen.
Keep in mind, in many countries/languages, the letter J is pronounced as a Y, so Tarja = Tarya. In the same vein, Jansen is pronounced Yansen.
Very bad style to advertise your own channel on other people's channel.
I cringe when Floor is singing Marco lines or worse when Troy is trying to belt as it is not his strength at all 😢
Tarja has this thing where she has a Mic to match every outfit she wears on stage. You might want to check out Ritual from her live performance
This is was Nightwish was all about, dark, mystic, gothic and operatic. The best era! Tarja4Evr ❤️ BAM!!! 👊👊👊
That ending is so epic 🤘

Overall, the pop singers or combinations of pop and classical dominate in the symphonic. Specialized classical singers like Tarja tend to be the exception. Floor is the role model today and not Tarja:

Cheers guys
Du hast Schadenfreude wegen dem was sie Tarja damals angetan haben? Sagt ja ne Menge über dich aus…🤦🏻♂️
Where are they open minded…? I didn’t see that…
I think wishmaster is my fav Tarja ding together with swanheart. Just amazing. Floor is my fav. Keep up the good Work Two. Love from Sweden
Ambas são boas cantoras sem comparações , são ótimas no que fazem.
such a great reaction guys.
I hope someday you come back to this era, but regardless, enjoy!
if you really want hard dark spell-binding Tarja (and Marko too) with Nightwish:
(even some rocking on invisible guitar, head windmills, and etc theatrics too)
(remember, the concerts/albums/covers must be before 2006, for Tarja's performances)
(not ranked, just listed)
1. Slaying the Dreamer
2. Planet Hell
3. Wishmaster
4. Kinslayer
5. Ghost Love Score
6. The Siren
7. End of All Hope
8. Dead to the World
9. 10th Man Down
Given the comment about bassist have you reacted to Geoff Castellucci? Try “ain’t no sunshine” or Oogie Boogie song
You need to introduce Ash to Epica! Maybe the live version of Santra Terra, feat. Floor Janson!
🤘🎸
Tarja Turunen, the symphonic metal goddess
wacken 20123 life with Floor
Another group / project floor appears in is ayreon you should react to the day the world breaks down first
Entertaining stuff, you two 🤘 Man, this takes me back. Definitely consider doing Floors version of Nemo from Wacken 2013. You were speaking of Disney princess songs, Floor has a few covers of such, fyi.
The one and only ❤TARJA❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Time to take up the bass Dave.

Marco (basist) is great
Here is another sample of Marco's voice..... Finnish Waltari band Below Zero Video is filmed at my friend Jonne's (Korpiklaani's singer) former studio

Only Tarja Turunen ❤❤❤
that was the last night
that i was nw fan..
there's no nw without the Elf Queen.-
you guys should definitely set aside an evening, and just work your way through the entire wacken 2013 setlist, lots of those songs are the ones you'll be asked to react to and this is just a way of having the all in the one place!
queen
Great reaction! If you wanna hear a Disney-Princess, look for "Floor Jansen Let it go - from Frozen". Greeting from Germany
Tarja is not Floor Jansen. Nobody is like Floor. Tarja sings most of the time as if she is trying to catch up to the musicians.
I you're planning a Floor "Nemo" reaction, you might as well give Anette's version a go. I think her best effort on TH-cam was at Gampel open Air in 2008.
You have to react to „Phantom of the Opera“ with Tarja
😊🇫🇮💙🪄🎼✨💯🤘
Compouser Tuomas Holopainen metal Mozart
You would react to they whole concert. Tarja has an amazing voice!!! ❤❤ Blessings.
All hale the REAL TRUE QUEEN 👑 of NIGHTWISH and of ALL FEMALE SYMPHONIC METAL SINGERS, the REAL TRUE QUEEN of the enchanting TARJA!!!😀👍👍🤘
