    I just got the M2 pro 16” mid-spec. I’m upgrading from my 2015 pro. Maybe it was a bit of a ridiculous purchase, but hey, futureproofing. My old one was amazing for all 8 years and I’m sure this one will be too.

    I am quite liked your not so techy and honest review! You are absolutely right. M2 Air with upgraded RAM & storage is more than enough for most of out there leaving pro for the hardcore developers/programmers, high end photo/video editing or who needs lots of cpu/gpu & RAM! Thanks 😊

    • @harrison00xXx
      @harrison00xXx ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But the M2 Air is already as base model overpriced, with upgrades its much too expensive for what it does. 2x USB and Magsafe is POOR, even worse considering paying more with 16/512 upgrade.
      The best deal is still a 14 or 16" M1 Pro machine for 90%+ of the users, in price/performance terms. You dont want these days 8GB Ram, even worse... "shared memory", 16GB is the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM and thats why M1 Pros are the best purchase.

I use my laptop for everything I can do while I'm on the go and I've never found a situation I'd rather be using a tiny 13-16 inch screen when I have a 34inch ultrawide next to me except video calls.

    There are so many videos Comparing these two and I simply don’t understand? One is a “PRO” for a reason the other is an “AIR” for a reason, they serve their purpose. The Air is for compact, travel, web browsing and video surfing and light editing etc as a secondary purpose. The PRO primarily is for handling heavy tasks, video editing, rendering, RAM heavy tasks, the web browsing, video watching and the rest is secondary. Anyone buying one not knowing it’s primary purpose will definitely be disappointed.

    Thanks for the video. Problem is with the MacBook Air M2, is if I'd take this one, I would upgrade the specs, and then I get very close to the MacBook Pro M2 Pro, therefore it's a no-brainer, it's better to go with the MacBook Pro M2 Pro. And on top of that you get better screen & speakers. So yeah, about what you say is correct.

    • @harrison00xXx
      @harrison00xXx ปีที่แล้ว

      Best pick in general is still the 14" M1 Pro or 16" if you want even better speakers and a more usable/bigger screen and better battery.
      In general i dont see much difference between a M2 Air and M1/M2 Pro 16", they feel both the same (and 2kg are still LIGHT!) except when you use them the better and bigger screen on the 16" is amazing, unlike the netbook/ultrabook like screen from the Air

    After 13 months of use, my 16" MacBook Pro M1's speakers started sounding AWFUL. Took in to Apple today, and it was going to be over $700 to replace the top case. I wasn't going to throw that into an already "old" computer, so got the 14" M2 Pro.. of course had to upgrade to 1TB to avoid getting ripped off on the "downgrade" aspect of the base model. Nice video but what about battery life? I have both of them (Macbook M1 pro 14) and Macbook Air m2. I compared them a couple od times, even today, watching and making two times the same javascript course on YT (using also VS code). Both laptops were fully charged. After the course: air 87%, pro 69%. Everyday usage confirms that: air has about two times better battery. It's really huge, huge difference.

    I have the MacBook Air, and yes I upgraded hard drive/RAM/GPU. Could have gone with Pro M2, but portability and lightness was a priority, I am very happy with my decision! Where did you get those cool animated desktop wallpapers?

      I also wanted portability, but also PERFORMANCE, PORTS and a "good" performance/price ratio
      The 16" M1 Pro base model gave me everything i needed, 16GB Ram are not much but noticable better than M1/2 base models and the MiniLED Screen was just too good to take the 14", additionally to the bigger, much longer lasting battery (70Wh are noticable worse than the 16"s 100Wh, especially in M1 Max config)

    • @harrison00xXx
      @harrison00xXx ปีที่แล้ว

      If Portability becomes the biggest priority you can even think of a iPad Pro already. At least my Air 5 is noticable better for most "mobile" usecases than my MacBook, The iPad is basically all i need mostly for study, no need to use a full grown Mac for it. Only when i "need" Mac OSs capabilities which iPadOS cant handle, when i need "power" (also literally as powerbank!), a nice, usable screen etc then i could not even use the 14" MBP properly, too small screen!. The 16" becomes on a small stand a iMac Mini (on battery...) and its great for consuming series or movies with more people at a greater distance, bcause of the "big" screen and glorious speakers.
      A friends 13" M1 Air is also not too compact, its not even comparable to my iPad Air, still packs the same hardware (sadly not software)

      Do you still suggest the Macbook Air m2 now that Macbook Pro M3 is out? I have the Macbook Pro M1 (still works like magic) but looking for an upgrade. Price isnt the issue for me but the Portability of Air is attracting me mostly. I have the Mac Studio at home for heavy works (Music Production) and mainly I do Wordpress works on my laptop, along with regular browsing, some light Photoshop. Nothing crazy.

    Another great video. I'm watching this on an M1 Macbook Air now and it's in my opinion the best value computer Apple has ever made. Dropping $2800 on the 16" M2 Macbook Pro, one tier up to avoid SSD-gate (which probably won't affect me but 1TB was something I was going to do anyway), sucks. For me, running Catalyst Browse to stabelize my Sony A7IV footage I feel like literally damages my M1 Air. I start it before I go to sleep and in the morning the whole thing is hot. The heat seeps to the screen and to the bottom of the keyboard, like it has a fever. Also, the high megapixel raw in lightroom requires a re-start after editing every few photos. So, I guess I need the pro but almost $3K is nothing I EVER thought I would consider paying for a laptop, especially this one which I believe is going to be looked back on as the worst Mac silicon upgrade. It's so overclocked, stop gap. The next one at 4 nanometer or hopefully 3 will be the big upgrade.

      I use the base model M2 Pro 14'' and it works seamlessly with my Sony A7IV. People keep talking about the slow SSD but honestly I do not notice it. It's fast to me. Now if was comparing it next to an M1 Pro because I was running test, then of course I would notice. But Im using it to actually get work done, so it's not something that I notice. Plus if you use a student discount, you can get it for under $2k. This is not to take anything away from the M1 Pro because with the price drop on that machine, that's a really good deal.

      @@myong9 Hi Myon, thank you very much for the info. That helps a ton. Hearing from someone else that owns the A7IV is very useful and helps a lot. I will take a closer look at the base model as I'd like to get some airpod pro's and it would help with that. Thanks again!
