I watched your videos before my current trip and I thank you guys for prepping me for scams. I had an attempted scam last night. I entered the afterhours lobby of a large, commercial bank to use the ATMs. The first machine was not working (I think jammed by the scammers), so I moved to another ATM closer to some other people. As I was getting my cash, a guy asked me if that was my wallet on the floor. In a few brief seconds, I glanced at the floor, felt my own wallet on me, said "No, it's not", slammed my hand over the cash dispensary and heard guy #2 say "oh, that's mine." I quickly pocketed my money and card while guy #1 criticized me for a harsh tone in my response. I don't think I would have moved so quickly without watching your videos and being on guard. Thank you.

thank you so much for filming the video. I was in Prague two months ago and here is what I found... 1. The exchanges at the airport have super lousy rates as well and mostly people go along with it bcz they think airports should have legit things... 2. The corner shops open til late have overpriced items as well (2X, 3X...) I get that we should pay a little more money for stores that open at midnight for us but not at doubled and tripled prices anyway I have met a few unfriendly locals but all in all, it is a lovely city and beers are cheaper than water!! love it!

Sorry but I don’t understand the people that would change money on the street when approached by guys like that?!!! The situation screams “scam” miles away
Last time I was in Prague in October 2016, I wanted to exchange money, so a guy swooped in from nowhere and offered me a better price for my euros. Said "lets go to my shop you'll get a better deal". We start walking and he starts to get friendly, asking questions, gives me his business card then says he can't go to the shop now, he's waiting around here for someone and he would exchange with me right here in the middle of the street. I got suspicious cause I already watched your videos back then before coming to Prague and was prepared. Even though my girlfriend pushed me to change with the guy because it looked like a better deal, I refused. He asked for his business card back and we parted ways. Just one more story. Thank you for being vigilant and posting videos of the honest guide, it's awesome! Keep it up! I'm coming back to Prague this July, if we ever meet, the beer is on me! :)
Mark Litman Excactly the same happen to me. I was gonna exchange at the place Janek recommend, but it was the days after Christmas, so that place was closed. But right outside the door was this guy, wearing a grey sixpence and a grey coat, offering me to go his shop, when he stopped and open up his walled, i was like hell no, and i knew right away it was a scam, luckily, ive been in Prague before, so i very fast recognise the fake money. Janek and Honza is doing so much good for this city
The sad thing is that it should be job for the Police. But the municipal police is rather ambush waiting on Wenceslas Sq. and Namesti Republiky for drivers who accidentally drive thru that place - instead of PROPERLY mark it as No entry zone or guarding at the entrance points and simply turn them away. But NO, they make a load of money on the fines, ruining the city image even further :(
People who fall for this are idiots lol. Why do you think someone can get you better exchange rate than these places? And everyone who doesn't google the exchange rate before going to exchange the money is an idiot.
Mark Litman have you ever exchanged money on the street of your home country? Holy shit, it's banking operation, banks normally do it, not someone on a street. Prague is not a place somewhere in the middle of Africa, there are the same rules as in your country. Normally tourists should behave in. European cities as they do at home, and there will be no problem
This is no lie, in a 2019 trip to Prague this exact group of guys (the first two in the video) approached me just off the town square. Can't believe they're allowed to operate this freely!
@@SoulArtSound It's not that, Czech police is one of the less corrupt in general, these people are just never going to give up, and usually they get away with a fine or very short jail time and go straight back into it......
You NEVER appear nervous when you are calling these scammers out. you always seem calm and collected. you hold your temper and clearly communicate. Especially when you are in a situation you didnt expect, like when the tourists he scammed came back with the money directly in front of you. you handle it so well! Youre a boss!
Actually is good that you see this, cause in other countries they do this too, but they over charge you and give less of the real amount or they provide you fake money

This guy is awesome. Czech people are good honest people and the best friends you'll ever have. It's foreigners who run the scams. I'm not going to say who but it's not czech customs. The guy who made this is Czech and like all Czechs tired of people ruining such a beautiful city. In Prague? Deal with Czech locals. Buy them a beer and they will make sure you have a safe and wonderful visit. Buying a local a beer is customary and shows that tourists also want to keep Prague one of the safest cities in the world. There's a reason it's safe. People like this guy preserving the good reputation. Thanks for the post. I miss Prague like crazy.

Silver Swift lol that’s not the point. So you are saying you would change money with a random dude on the street right in front of a changing store just because it is “cheaper”? People should be careful with their money, there’s no reason to change money with this guys 😂
Did you notice at 3.50 of the video, when you were challenging this low life, a guy in a blue jacket walk behind the low life, who had his hands behind his back at the time? The other low life took something out of the hands of the thief you were talking to. Excellent videos, keep up your work. You are like Roger Cook (a fantastic investigative journalist of the 70's and 80's).
It’s probably a huge operation, as long as he doesn’t do this on a daily basis he is not really disrupting the money-making. You might say oh but the video goes viral, yea but there will always be gullible people that won’t have watched the video.
Pick pockets do the exact same trick. The first guy who lifts your wallet passes it onto another accomplice walking past. Before you know it, your wallet has left the area.
Not really. People come all over the world from different cultures. For example, in some towns, it's not uncommon to keep your door unlocked. Meanwhile, in other cities or towns this is a deathwish or invite to burglars. People come from many different cultures and that affects their perceptions of how other people act and their morality.
Actually Bec they are foreign and prob with no legal papers ...they don't get to do time ...because they don't worth the paperwork ...that happens here in Greece...for small crimes they don't care they get arrested and the next day they are free
3:49 the guy in the blue smartly n silently fetches the money from the prick ,,, these operates in multiple number two or more always stays little distant from the scammer to oversee the work .
You sir are a hero. Thank you. I can imagine how nervous you must have been in that situation, and yet you went out of your way to see those guys caught-very likely they would not have been without you. I don’t mind whereabouts in the world crooks are caught, so long as they’re caught. Kudos.
Some advice if you are going to attempt anything like that: Do NOT put your hands into your pockets. You will not be able to defend yourself and a threatened (cornered) criminal might draw a weapon thinking you are reaching for a weapon in your pockets yourself. Keep your hands somewhere in front of your stomach area, that will enable you to react in time ot any physical attack.
Using guns on the street of Prague is very rare here. He would get immediately into all news and would be caught very soon like the murder of Michal Velíšek in 2005.
@@JBereza I didn't mean a gun, a knife is a weapon too or not? Knife or brass knuckles, whatever...when you are cornering a person and threatening him to take his freedom away (going to jail), I wouldn't suggest to put your hands into your pockets. That's all. Be prepared.

currently been on holiday in Prague for the past five days. not gotten ripped off once due to your amazing videos. the Czech tourist board should be paying you 😁 as everyone else said thanks a lot.
have you encountered anyone who tried to cheat you, or have you avoided such situations altogether?
some guy tried to talk to us and ask us to change money on the street lol other than that no. we used liftago app to call taxis and the advice from these videos to avoid other issues.
Who the hell changes money on the street from strangers anyplace?... jeez
@@jimimased1894 We think it is crazy stupid, but if you grow up in a safe environment you don't know. You do not expect a random person to do a thing like this.
Bad if you grow up in a completely hostile environment as well because you are always on guard. You can never relax lol.
Balance is key, nobody is stupid. They just haven't learned by experience yet.
P T there are places in the world where exchanging on the street/gray market is much better than at official places/banks
Besides the few dirty scammers this fellow showed us the streets of Prague Czech republic look very clean and tidy hope they keep it that way!
This is no lie, in a 2019 trip to Prague this exact group of guys (the first two in the video) approached me just off the town square. Can't believe they're allowed to operate this freely!
So they managed to get out of jail
Police is corrupted...
@@SoulArtSound It's not that, Czech police is one of the less corrupt in general, these people are just never going to give up, and usually they get away with a fine or very short jail time and go straight back into it......

Not really. People come all over the world from different cultures. For example, in some towns, it's not uncommon to keep your door unlocked. Meanwhile, in other cities or towns this is a deathwish or invite to burglars. People come from many different cultures and that affects their perceptions of how other people act and their morality.

This is not america, they're on camera and in the public area, you know surrounded by people
@@alexc8253 I still wouldn't bet my life on it. Even though you are correct, sir.
