    The Anthem consists only of the one verse, so it is wrong to say "Don't sing the first verse". Yor are referring to the "Lied der Deutschen" of which the third verse is the text of the National Anthem.

    Regularly letting your gas tank get near empty puts a lot of stress on your fuel pump, which will eventually cause it to fail. I speak from experience!

    easter egg:
    actually it isnt sung anymore because of:
    "Von der Maas bis an die Memel,
    Von der Etsch bis an den Belt"
    which is now not geographically correct anymore ;)
    the 2nd stanza isnt sung anymore because it sounds strange to focus on:
    "Deutsche Frauen, deutsche Treue,
    Deutscher Wein und deutscher Sang"
    so they decided that the 3rd is the offical anthem - as it resembles german values.
    but it is not illegal :p

    As far as gas goes, it depends on the time of year. My grampa taught me to always have at least 1/2 a tank of gas in the car in the winter. This is for safety incase you go off the road (we get lots of snow and sometimes the roadways are not well maintained; also keep a few blankets, water, flashlight, shovel, snow scrapers and some form of food/water in the car as well). In the summer time, I have ever gone down to the E, but there are 5 gas stations just within a 5 mile radius of my home. I try to not go below 1/4 tank.

    Those rules are so true.
    ...but... 😄
    Desinfecting your hands BEFORE you go into a supermarket... I don`t recall this being a rule. And I ask myself, if it really makes much sense. So many products in the supermarket. Everybody touches it. So if there is a time to desinfect your hands, it`s AFTER you have been in the market.
    At least, this is my opinion. ... and this is not meant to be as a fight.😄
    Great video, and I hope you hit the 100k soon.👍👍

    Easter egg! When it comes to fruit I don't smell it as much as I look for the ripest or unripe(depending on what I'm looking for). For melons I was taught to tap them and to listen to the sound it makes. (Depends on the melon) here comes the bit but, I carry quite a bit of sanitizer with me and sanitize between each. Then I go home and wash th outside of the melon before I cut it as well. My teenager is one of those nose-out of mask," Mum it just doesn't fit over my nose!" So I've started carrying duck tape. Just taking it out usually makes him put his mask back up.

    Not smelling things in the supermarket... I get it, and I wouldn't smell on food or such. But what about cleaning or washing products, because you more or less need to?
    In my case, I am pretty sensitive to smells (Asthma). If I buy a new fabric softener or something like this (for example if the one I always use is sold out or not available), I need to smell it in order to know if I can handle the product. (If I can, I will buy the one I smelled, but if it is to strong, or make my airways all cramped and tight, I won't buy it as I wouldn't be able to use it. In this case I would try another - and yes, if you wonder: atm I smell with the mask on, of course)
    -> normally I know which products I can use. This is only the case if the product I used for years isn't available any more, or out of stock and I need to buy an unknown product
    And I often have seen people smelling all kind of products before - shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, perfume, dish soap, washing detergent, ect.

    In Korea, gas stations are literally EVERYWHERE but most of them are amongst the Big Five. Since earning points and 'alleged' gas quality is important to many Koreans, we tend to seek a opinionated, specific brand of gas which sometimes make us to seek through the navigation system. Singing the first verse of Deutschlandlied is actually not a punishable offence and it also isn´t really forbidden just very frowned apon. It has long been an urban myth also along Germans that there was a law that forbade it but that is not true. It is also not the "first verse of the German anthem", because the German anthem is defined as the third verse of the Deutschlandlied. So singing it is not forbidden in Germany and to call it the German anthem is also wrong. There is however one song that is forbidden (text and melody) in Germany. It is the Horst-Wessel-Lied, the Song of the NSDAP and the SA.

      #8 You have to smell the food, especially the tomatoes, because only then you will know if they will taste good or like nothing. a tomato that doesn't smell like anything will taste like nothing. A cucumber that smells like nothing will taste like nothing.when products smell like they are supposed to like a cucumber or a tomato they will actually taste like the fruit they are. the more intense they smell the better they taste

    Das Lied der Deutschen ist nicht die deutsche Nationalhymne! Seit 1991 ist nur noch die dritte Strophe des Lied der Deutschen ganz offiziell die Nationalhymne. von 1949 bis 1991 war zwar das Lied der Deutschen noch vollständig die Nationalhymne, de facto war es aber doch nur die dritte Strophe.

    "Do not smell produce and put it back"?! Is this a joke? Does it mean that if you handle any type of food like a slice of bread, you can't put it back? That has probably happened to me in Germany before.

    Easter egg: the national anthem is just in a bad context with nazi germany. Originally it was the "Lied der Deutschen" and is over a 150 years old and it had nothing to do with nazi germany. But I understand how the text is very unpopular now.

    • @katjahuskinson3428
      @katjahuskinson3428 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, quite a few things are either frowned upon or illegal in Germany today because the Nazi Regime used them for their propaganda. The "Hakenkreuz" existed way before the Nazi, but they used it as their symbol so now it's forbidden... I'm sure there are more things like this but I'd have to really think about it... 🤔😅

    What's about riding your bike when you have drinked Alkohol? or walking over the road while the traffic light is red? It can cost your driver license did you know that? (I mean in Germany)

    • @Anson_AKB
      @Anson_AKB 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      alcohol and drugs: not only driver's license, but since losing the driver's license proves that you are not reliable enough to handle vehicles, you might also lose your pilot license, ship license, etc.
      walking a red light (by foot, not with a bicycle) only gives a fine but usually shouldn't give points and thus not cause you to lose the driver license !?

    As soon as the indicator light for the reserve tank in the car comes on, I get nervous, and there's a reason for that: With my first car, I broke down once on a main road, the sensor in the gas tank was out of order, and I didn't notice it. Right in front of a car dealership, within sight of a gas station. Ouch, how embarrassing!
    I am currently back in the open office for a period of time after 10 months of Work From Home and there is a smoking area outside where you don't have to wear a mask (officially allowed). I always take 2-3 steps back if my colleagues get too close to me during a conversation while smoking and this always causes some disturbed looks. I also say it directly, if the distance is too small for me, I do not care what the colleagues think 😂 a colleague said the other day jokingly that I will start in a few weeks to bite people, because I slowly probably hate human contact 🤣
    I will get a webcam as soon as I do WFH again. Some work colleagues show half their apartment via zoom in the meeting, I will set a background - this is my personal bubble and my work space has no interest to any colleague. Basta! 😜

      I dread the day Germans go back to zero personal space. But I'm curious why you like the shopping cart! OH, is it cuz you're more likely to get more personal space when everyone has one? That hasn't worked out well for me. Maybe we need shopping carts that aren't just in front of you, but in back and both sides. Yes!
