He's good but he has a few bumps here and there. You can definitely see the inspiration from certain films and genres in those though so it's about what he wants to see in film. I think Pulp Fiction is his best film but I enjoyed Django Unchained the most.
+cray nelson you can recognize something's beauty and complexity without it appealing to you personally. Just like seeing that someone is handsome or beautiful, without being attracted to them yourself.
You forget that you can think in multiple ways and judge in the same sense. Saying one is a better film is acknowledging the quality of the film, writing, acting etc. over a personal bias which would be the only quality an average individual could accomplish as an analysis. I could say the writing was best is x film, screenplay y film, acting in z film but I chose to simply declare that I think that one film is his best and declared another as my favorite. A declaration such as this if you need explanation could be given but the second statement as to "I enjoyed Django Unchained the most" is my bias. If anyone making sense of something is pretentious then we best add that to each individual in humanity as a common overused innate flaw that will always exist. I'm not saying your necessarily wrong here, I'm saying if your right you do the same thing multiple times a day.
I wouldn't say that... There are some Filmakers who go all the way to make "their film". The studios want the money but a lot of filmmakers do it for the love of cinema.
The Tavern scene with August Diehl and Fassbender is one of the best scenes in all of cinema in my opinion, it was so intense and suspenseful. Also the Bear Jews entrance scene was sooo badass. And of course the opening scene where Waltz is interrogating the farmer was superb to. Tarantino is a genius of writing dialogue and directing.
Yea, Tarantino is known for great dialogue, but some of the tense dialogue in Inglorious I think is unmatched even judged by his other works. The Tavern scene, Waltz in front of Shoshana wondering if he recognizes her the whole time, etc. So damn tense and suspenseful as you wait for the blood and bullets to erupt!
I was with you until you mentioned the Bear Jew. That was the most cringeworthy scene i've ever seen in a Tarantino movie. Eli Roth is a talentless hack, he sounded like he was going through puberty. The guy cannot act, or direct while we're at it.
I'm pretty late, but he actually is in a German miniseries that's on Netflix called Perfume (original title Parfum), loosely based on the book Perfume: Story of a Murderer. It's really quite good, and you can see how excellent he is in it.

Such an incredible interview for one of the best Tarantino movies of all time. He asked all the right questions, and both Brad and Quentin gave such enlightening answers. Made watching the movie, again and again, all that more desirable. It takes a very talented interviewer to elicit this much insight into such a complex film. Kudos to Elvis Mitchell for focusing on this extraordinary film and script and not on the personal lives of the celebrities involved. (Something so many interviewers focus on, unfortunately) Quentin is, undoubtedly, a cinematic genius and one of the best directors of all time. His casting in this film was brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed this interview.. obviously.
Did the interviewer see the movie before interviewing them? I agree his interview skills appear great but he later puts his foot in his mouth not knowing they killed Hitler... that’s a pretty huge plot point he missed if he claims to have seen the film.
Best part of the interview 5:58, amazing how Brad reacts to Tarantino calling him a genius. That most satisfied compliment... the amount of respect involved, incredible piece!
And it’s funny because there is a speech (probably it was before that interview) that Brad says Quentin called Christoph a genius during set. And Brad said in the speech “I never got that”. And everybody laughed. Now you got it man!
Just wanted to revisit this after Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. This was an EXCELLENT interview. Just deep talk about the film and films. Elvis great job. I love interviews like this. Quentin is such a lover of film. He knows his craft. He has such a passion for details and it is so fascinating. Just listening to people really talk about a film and not silly questions and dumb comments. This is adult and interesting.
Elvis Mitchell, hats off on this interview. So often you hear all the basic questions regarding violence and all of the obvious things that make Tarantino movies amazing, but Elvis dug deeper. He asked questions about production and the small intricacies of the movie that, as you can see, guys like Pitt and Tarantino actually enjoy talking about. Was so happy to watch this interview with my favorite director and one of my favorite actors, as well as being about my favorite movie, done so well.

The man actually said the perfect storm of No while engaged in casual conversation in front of a camera. Interviewer missing that, and Tarantino thinking that's just normal, is the only reason Pitt didn't explode right there
The interviewer did a great job getting these huge personalities into such a comfortable place where they were clearly having an enjoyable time and the audience got a real treat. Tarantino is an off the charts genius - why else can he pick just about any actor for his movies?

Quentin is such a delight, his passion just bubbles over. It's totally contagious and has and will continue to inspire generations of would-be film makers. So grateful for his talent, as well as the cast and crew that bring it to life.
Check out the looks exchanged between Brad Pitt and Quentin starting just after 5:59. Quentin calls Brad a “kinda genius” at discovering a character’s physical / behavior. Brad, with his look: “That’s very cool, really?” Quentin, with his look, “Yeah, I think it’s true.”
Why his movies are so damn good. The dialogue ..the actors and their acting ohmagawd ! I feel happy and satisfied walking out of theatre. More ..wan MORE ! :D
+Saratchandra MV Tarantino writes good characters and casts the right people. The dialogues he writes is already good enough on paper, and the actors who deliver them do a fantastic job making them even better.
I’m Italian, and I have to say Tarantino is right when he say that Aldo’s “Buongiorno” was a little too much “heavy”. That is not how an Italian speaks, the way he said it was more a burlesque way to speak Italian. That being said I have to agree again with Tarantino when he says that after hearing “Buongiorno” that way, it HAD to be that way. Because was totally in character with Aldo: Aldo was burlesque all the time, so in the end it was perfect the way Brad Pitt says it.
He's not italian though and Pitt even says here that people with thick southern american accents tend to find it very hard to lose their accent so it is true to form for the character.
I really appreciate this interviewer for doing such a good job at interviewing these two. His contributions guided the conversation and didn't seem to interrupt the flow like a lot seem to do.

“Comfortable is not always what’s best.” Thats the sound of a leader. I’ve been directed by people like this, and they’re rare. I’ve tried, when I directed people in producing my own music, to live by that approach as well: I must make decisions quickly. I must trust the judgement of those people I have chosen to work with me. Bad directors often fail by failing to lead. Instead they blame and cajole and make it about themselves and their vision, and not the collective effort. When he says: “how do we feel today.” He emphasizes “we,” and “today.” That ability to write and still be in the moment is rare.
Holy shit, the role Quentin was talking about at 18:35 is probably Cliff Booth. Watching this interview after 10 years is so great and rewarding, one can only wonder, what future stories Tarantino has created and still keeps from us...
“We are here today. How do we feel today?” In other words, you can try your damndest to have it all figured out before you get to set, but in reality, changes can and will be made all the way up until the last second. It’s part of the magic.
Seeing an interviewer who's respectful but not sycophantic, who asks good questions and never talks over the answers, who's genuine, likeable but never upstages his guests, is almost as much a delight as the work of the guests themselves.
Incredible interview, very well conducted by Elvis. He knew when to step in and when to let them riff off each other. Too many of these press junket interviews are more about doing rapid fire questions without too much substance and this one took full advantage of Brad and Quentins intelligence and experience. Thanks!!
One of the absolute best of these. I had a problem with the outcome of a film I loved the look, the feel, and the timing of every scene. I’d come to my own rationalization on that problem so as not to allow it to spoil so much wonderful dramatic storytelling and equally perfect performances by such a fine cast. Now Quentin and Brad, in the friendliest casual way, have proven my conclusions, and cleared any obstacle from total enjoyment of this fine, fun, beautifully done film. I can watch all scenes, but especially the beer cellar, whenever I come across it. What a fully realized saga!
Really excellent interview. This is the first of Elvis Mitchell's that I've seen but he managed to conduct something that demonstrates, what I think, the best reason for promotional tours to exist. Obviously the two leads are interview gold, but he gave them all the space they needed to entertain and get people excited about a creative work, asked the right questions, at the right time, and let them run with it. Now i'm going to go watch Inglourious Basterds. Again.
There are so many few things, so many few things that make me feel so happy than seeing one working in something for which him or her is so passionate about. It's so deep Tarantino's love for his movies and, of coruse, for cinema in general. That's so beautiful, exciting even!
What an amazing interviewer, I don't think I've ever seen someone that asked such interesting questions and he would jump in and ask the same thing I wanted to know and you could tell he was paying attention and not thinking of his next question he was always right there with them. Don't think I've seen an interview where the actors or directors are so into the conversation and this feels more like an interesting conversation rather than a Q and A.
Tarantino should write and direct another movie centered on Hugo Stiglitz's reign of terror and massacre in the Gestapo ranks. This is a guy whose back story and character development I'd be fascinated by....
Recently saw "Death Proof" Loved it - Did not know it was one of Quentin Tarantino's films. Zoe Bell stole the show and Kurt Russell was a real Die Hard in this one.
tavern scene, opening farm scene. perfection really... just saw once upon a time in hollywood last night and it blew my fucking mind. so fn good its unreal
16:20min Americans always think we have to live with the shame. I wouldn't say it's shame. Of course it was shameful but that's not the points like many foreignerns may think. "It's not your fault. It was another generation." That's not the point. It's the overwhelming feeling of responsibility! I still remember the moment in school when I decided myself that I'd give my life to prevent anoter rise of fascism. And that feeling has nothing to do with pride or patriotism. It's pure resposibility, grown from all the experience you gather while growing up. And it's not just history classes ... my grandmother, born in 1936, remembers how the Royal Air force bombed our local church in the morning of Christmas Eve. She told me how she saw the braids of the girls hanging in the trees in front of the church.
@@billwilliamson7765 Not just an Italian thing. I do it as well. Bassically I feel like it's another way to express and enhance your words. What tends to happen with alot of people now is that if there isn't much happening in a conversation a person would typically tune out some bits here and there due to it just being a mouth and face moving with words coming out. It makes alot of words have a bigger emphasis. And I'm French Canadian. So Italians don't only have it.
My top 6 favourite Tarantino movies: 1. Inglorious Basterds 2. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood 3. The Hateful 8 4. Pulp Fiction 5. Django Unchained 6. Reservoir Dogs

lisening to quetion talk about fims is a real pleasure. how was the world ever going stop this guy from becoming one the greats of movie writing and directing, talent of this kind just cant be stopped.
I really like Brad Pit’s pragmatism about his approach to acting. It’s not very textual, but he just plainly states that his strength is in the physical part of it. A lot of actors get too cerebral about their method, and I think some end up coming up with a lot of nonsense about it that isn’t really important. He just seems to trust his feelings in a good way. In a way it’s very different from someone like Anthony Hopkins, but also similar in that they choose one way into the character and stick with that. No mumbo jumbo or psychoanalysis.
tarantino films are a gift to cinema.

Till Schweiger and Eli Roth were such perfect pieces of casting. I genuinely think the little details made this movie
Brad Pitt and Tarantino is a great combination.. can't wait for once upon a time in Hollywood
This was a great interview. Love both these guys and the interviewer let them talk and didn't ask stupid questions.
Holy shit, the role Quentin was talking about at 18:35 is probably Cliff Booth. Watching this interview after 10 years is so great and rewarding, one can only wonder, what future stories Tarantino has created and still keeps from us...
This interviewer is great. And Brad Pitt is always the coolest guy in the room
Brad Pitt seems like one cool muthafucker.
Brad always so easy on the eyes & soul.....love the movie, the cast and all
Meet Joe Black
“We are here today. How do we feel today?”
In other words, you can try your damndest to have it all figured out before you get to set, but in reality, changes can and will be made all the way up until the last second. It’s part of the magic.
this is amazing. i think inglorious basterds was his best movie, or at least tied with pulp fiction. great interview, thanks a lot for posting this.
Good God how can you not love these guys?! This is movie making at its best. Thank you for all the memories.
Again.
Shit Pitt was great in Snatch!
"Ya ain't goin anywhere ya tick lump! Ya stay until the fight done!"
He’s pretty much great in everything tbf
WOW
Brilliant interview of two true movie superstars!!!!!
From a 72yo Aussie fan.
There absolutely needs to be a prequel to this movie. Usually I'm not a fan of those but the story lines in this movie seem so deep.
Brad Pitt deserved an Oscar for this film. Aldo was my favorite character and Lando was my second.
Soshana and lando over aldo, buddy
This movie is 10 years old already. I watched it twice today, it really is a masterpiece. Still as good as when I saw it in the cinema.
I wish this interview went on for another hour. It was so fun to watch
Tarantino should write and direct another movie centered on Hugo Stiglitz's reign of terror and massacre in the Gestapo ranks. This is a guy whose back story and character development I'd be fascinated by....
All three are so well spoken this is a great listen
@LeoS what
Recently saw "Death Proof" Loved it - Did not know it was one of Quentin Tarantino's films. Zoe Bell stole the show and Kurt Russell was a real Die Hard in this one.
Every time I watch inglorious basterds I enjoy it more and more
I love you, Quentin.
So hard not to join.
tavern scene, opening farm scene. perfection really... just saw once upon a time in hollywood last night and it blew my fucking mind. so fn good its unreal
Tarantino's personally is awesome. I love this man.
ComradeYakov like an excited child, crazed on the edge murderer and creative genius all in one mind
The man talks with his hands
LMAOOOOO
He's italian
It's what we do
@@billwilliamson7765 Not just an Italian thing.
@@SirBigWater obviously they are not the only one to use body language to help explain or emphasize what they are saying, it was joke
Man, that southern bongiorno line was awesome. props to pitt for coming up with that.
My top 6 favourite Tarantino movies:
1. Inglorious Basterds
2. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
3. The Hateful 8
4. Pulp Fiction
5. Django Unchained
6. Reservoir Dogs
Quentin tells Brad "he is kind of a geniues himself" and then the look of Brad is great. Especially cause I heard in other interviews that this is one of the highest praises of Quentin to his actors
Your're right Quentin you are a wonderfuil story teller. One of the best. In the long line of from those that drew picurese on the caves and you with your tools.
Damn Brad and Quentin are matching so good. :D So funny to listen to them . :D I anjoy dem very much ! :-)
lisening to quetion talk about fims is a real pleasure. how was the world ever going stop this guy from becoming one the greats of movie writing and directing, talent of this kind just cant be stopped.
First time seeing this interviewer and I LOVE HIM. He actually let's the the interviewees TALK
Although he didn't seem to know what really happened to Hilter at the end of the war, which was concerning.
It's great to hear Quentin talk about his films!
I love how Tarantino says thanks mate
I really like Brad Pit’s pragmatism about his approach to acting. It’s not very textual, but he just plainly states that his strength is in the physical part of it. A lot of actors get too cerebral about their method, and I think some end up coming up with a lot of nonsense about it that isn’t really important. He just seems to trust his feelings in a good way.
In a way it’s very different from someone like Anthony Hopkins, but also similar in that they choose one way into the character and stick with that. No mumbo jumbo or psychoanalysis.
I also really love his respect for the writing. That’s very classy.
