That mantle is beautiful. When the other woman was asking about the price, I think you probably had a tiny little panic attack which means you really wanted it. So glad you won that battle. I think it will be perfect for your cottage, especially at Christmas with the stockings hanging from it. Kensley giving you kisses at the end of this vlog was so sweet. God bless!

Old mixers are THE BEST! Old mixers like that and kitchenaid are made with steel bearings, currently the bearings are made of plastic and other materials, and they can burn out! You truly found a gem with that mixer. I have a vintage kitchenaid and it has lasted over 50 years (it was my grandmothers' wedding gift), it's out-lived three brand new mixers! Way to go!

Oh my gosh! Macenna I just found that EXACT same brass candle holder with the knob that turns. If you loosen the "knob" or screw, the candle holder is counter balanced so if you are walking with it and it happens to tilt, the candle holder stays upright. I found it for $1 at a garage sale 3 weeks ago. I've never seen another like it, and then you find one! So crazy, but I am obsessed with mine, it is the coolest thing. Love watching your channels. You can use a magnet to test the silverware to see if it’s real silver or not. If it is real silver the magnet won’t work. Also, I think I read somewhere that early silver pieces weren’t marked, but if they are marked it’ll be with either 800, 900, or 925. I hope that helps!

Your Mum and the tape and sharpies at the estate sale, OMG 🤣 she is a woman after my own heart. This was one of my favourite videos so for McCenna, oh my goodness you and your mum together just bring me so much joy . Everything you bought was absolutely gorgeous and you don’t have a shopping problem, have have a whole house, two guest cottages and your mum‘s house as well to furnish and get decor for, that’s an awful a lot of shopping! 😄 The beautiful thing about being an interior designer your home is it’s never actually done. A couple of years from now when the house is ‘finished’, you might decide to refresh or redecorate a room who knows? Then you’ll have stuff in the workshop that you bought estate sale or flea market, ready to go. Isn’t that the main reason you have all those extra buildings in the backyard, storage ? 😉

Oh I so want that mixer! Now I'm on the hunt. I am obsessed with milk glass. Glad you got that incredible mixer. The sink is so beautiful and unique. And that mantel! What a rare find. I know you can make it look as gorgeous as it deserves in your home. It is stunning. Even if you have to alter your original plan for the fireplace it will be worth it. Really fun video.

My mom had a Hamilton mixer but I don't think you could remove the mixer to mix separately. You got top of the line. I think mom got her mixer as a wedding gift about 1956 or 1957.

Same. There is an adjuster lever that moves the beater into the right position depending on the size bowl you use. They don't have near the speed/strength compared to a modern KitchenAid and you have to manually scrape the sides of the bowl because the beaters don't pickup everything

In the 1950s they must have switched the cord to being covered with a rubber covering because ours was something like a rubber covering cord and you could slide the mixer off the stand to use it as a hand mixer like she showed

I love when you guys go shopping! The small milk glass bowl is called a better bowl, that’s why it has a little pour spout. I didn’t see the top but if there’s a hole that’s where the juicer attachment would go.

My mom had a mixer like that she bought in the mid-to-late 1950s. I as a teenager, loved whipping up creamed potatoes also I became an expert at making meringue for lemon pies with mixer like that. must have had it at least 40 years with all the moving between houses I don't really remember what happened to it. it's really well-made a quality product. I am glad that you found it at the estate sale since it was the one thing you went to get.

My family has antique kitchen table chairs that have gotten loose or even broken over the years. We recently had them taken to a carpenter (?) to fix them up, and they turned out great! He was able to fix and tighten, restain and refinish, as well as replace the seat cushion and fabric. I say this to suggest that if you find some chairs that you love but they are broken, perhaps a local carpenter would be able to fix them for you.

Hi! Love all your treasures! The brass candlestick you found is a nautical style. It was designed to hang like a sconce and the fly screw on the side adjust for that position or it could sit on a desk. Also, check to see if the bottom unscrews? There may be a secret compartment there. Mine has one. 😁

I was so excited about the story behind the estate sale! Because our house in Denmark also used to belong to a carriage builder (he actually built the house as well)! So naturally we have quite the work space in the basement, where he used to build 😆
We were told that when cars were starting to put carriage makers out of work, he instead built the back of those old milk vans with the wooden doors in the back.
I secretly named our house The Carriage Maker’s house. Thanks for reminding me just how much I adore the histore of it ❤️ So special 💫

McKenna my mom had a Hamilton Beach brand mixer just like that and when I inherited, I got rid of it and I so regret it!!! It had the milk glass bowls, and it detached as well. It was probably older than me when she passed away. I was forty and now I am fifty seven. I wish so much I had not gotten rid of things that were hers. She was a very neat lady and everything had to be perfect. She took well good care of anything she had OCD she was. Please cherish your mixer you have a gem!!! Thank you for sharing your haul and estate adventure with your mom and dad. I so enjoy you spending time with them and just having the best time. So many Awesome times to cherish. Love you ladies, and your gents as well you bring so much joy to me with your bubbly excited spirit. I wish you all abundant blessings for 2022, and always...❤😊
