  • The FAA restricted helicopter routes near Reagan airport following the deadly crash. Also, the NTSB is examining flight recorders recovered from the wreckage. Former senior crash investigator Greg Feith, CEO of Tiburin Subsea Tim Taylor and former NTSB investigator Alan Diehl join Chris Jansing to provide their insight and expertise.

The audio and flight paths are available on TH-cam, the ATC notified the Apache there was a commercial flight in their path, the Apache pilot acknowledged but likely mistook the outgoing flight as the plane in question. Then as they got closer ATC again advised the Apache that they needed to turn to go behind the commercial flight, again the Apache acknowledged but likely was looking at the wrong plane. It’s a tragic miscommunication that may have resulted from a number of faults and factors.

I agree and your eyes can play tricks on you in the dark and probably with the night vision goggles especially if they were just getting used to those I heard it was a training situation the helicopter was probably blinded by the landing lights from the plane and thought that light was coming from the other plane

Actually, the ATC officer asked them if they saw the plane which is an idiotic thing to do as an ATC officer. The FAA is 100% responsible as they had one agent working two different frequencies.

It is really unfortunate that you second guess the ATC. Their job IS multiple distractions! And the ATC at just the moment you reference DID ask helicopter to confirm visual. So very unfair on your part.

The Reagan/DC airport has No accident for 15 years! Yesterday, the military helicopter smashed the passenger airplane on the side! Who is at fault? Who has the legal right to go first?
These 2 planes crashed is like my car accident with a car that smashed my car on the side as this car tried to cross the busy oncoming cars! This driver was at fault because she did not look carefully on both sides of the road before she cross! In addition, I have the right of way since my car was on the oncoming One-way road! So, which plane has the legal right to cross? The military helicopter or the 64 passenger airplane?

The Democrat's push to shove wokeness down the American people's throats even if innocent people have to die makes me sick to my stomach! The Federal Aviation Administration is actively recruiting workers who suffer severe intellectual disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website. “Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruitment and hiring,” the FAA’s website states. “They include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism. ”The initiative is part of the FAA’s “Diversity and Inclusion” hiring plan, which claims “diversity is integral to achieving FAA’s mission of ensuring safe and efficient travel across our nation and beyond.” 🤮 🤮

Please, enlighten the world as to how that could be the cause? Helicopters flying that route has been going on for many years, from long before the DEI policy was in place and it has always been a bad choice to allow visual separation at night which is primarily allowed due to a shortage of air traffic controllers in the USA. Something that Trump didn't fix in his first term and isn't set on fixing in his second term either. Don't forget his blanket hiring freeze, his offer to anyone to leave the job and be paid for 7 more months without having to perform any work, by disbanding the advisory board that should help improve safety, ...
But sure, blame it on someone else, instead of taking some responsibility. That's always the easiest.
