This ONE battle almost had more deaths than the entirety of the REAL LIFE Boshin War. Funny how that works, usually you expect Shogun 2 to have smaller scale battles compared to real life
Fall of the Samurai is basically the result of CA getting really drunk and watching The Last Samurai, and deciding to base a game off that. It's far from historically accurate but it's still one of the best Total War titles ever made.
@@PipMan1101Tbf if total war titles in general were more realistic they'd be a lot less fun. Imagine wars were drinking water with poo in it kills more of your troops than the enemy lol

This is why you always have battle timer enabled, in case a bug like this happens. You can run the timer out so you don't get some bs defeat. Can happen with sieges too when the AI cavalry end up outside the map but still count in battle.
Another secret of Shogun2 FOS: When you use shrapnell on cannons, but fire the cannon yourself, the shot will get stuck into the ground and will exploade after a certain amount of time (which is why I call it timebomb) The explosion is a little bit more effective than a normal cannonshot, but of course its hard to time it perfectly. So its not really op, but fun in siege battles when you have time and fire on a blop of units
That happens in Empire and Napoleon too, I always found it funny that its actually a misfire but its more effective than intended explosion in the air.

Hey Legend, you can deploy artillery in a way that units have 2 rows. If you then dismount the artillery during the deployment phase they will all be perfectly in 1 line without much space between the cannons. This way you can have more cannons on the same space and so have more space for guns. Especially for gatlings thats pretty nice. But it just works during deployment phase :)
There is One Doom Stack in Fall of the Samurai, it takes a bit of setup though. First play as Saga for the Gunnery perk which adds +5 Accuracy to all Artillery pieces. Second get a province with a Blacksmith, to make a Gunsmith for another +20 Accuracy to all Units (Including Artillery pieces). Third build a Training Camp and upgrade it to a Firing Range in the province with the blacksmith, for another +15 Accuracy to all Units. Optionally, get a trade agreement with America to get another +5 to Accuracy. Fourth but not least; Build 19 Armstrong Guns which will have a 70 Accuracy without any ranks or 75 without ranks (With the boost from American trade deal o what that system was called). Fifth and the last part: Put a Veteran that trains the Armstrong Guns to get Rank 9, and these things will destroy anyone who dared to come into range. The funny thing was, I got that army setup as a joke, and when I beat every army without any thought to it, me and my co-op partner at the time, just started making that army comp liberating Japan with excessive firepower XD
@@googleandsusansucks Yes and no, just because a unit is expensive doesn't mean it is good or great. This is also why cavalry is not exactly good, but they are great at taking out archers, or if you have the archer variant, they can hit and run from all infantry unless you mess up. Like you can do the same Doom Stack, with the Parrot Gun, the main difference is the Parrot Gun shoots slower, lower Accuracy (But that doesn't matter when you get them Rank 9) and the Parrot gun is cheaper in upkeep and recruitment cost.

FotS gunplay is so satisfying, easily the best in the series (and possibly best in all RTS). Sucks the AI is absolutely dreadful, both in tactics and the units recruited. I tried to fix the latter in FotS Enhanced (shameless self plug) so that they at least recruit more artillery (other than wood cannons), can't recall the exact number but the default artillery ratio was really low. Hey legend I have a question for you. I was watching one of your really, really old playthroughs (empire total war one, I think) and you had a comment that said Shogun 1 & 2 were your least favorite total wars. I’m wondering what your thoughts are, given you recently put shogun 2 to the top of your best battles tier list, and maybe how coming back to shogun 2 has felt to you?
For first person mode for galling guns. They made it super big brain... if u aim out of range of the galling guns it won't let u shoot. Which is smart cuz otherwise I would shoot from way out of range and mow infantry across the map down... so u need to aim lower or directly at infantry
Im always so dissapointed with gatling guns. You can achieve the same effect with elite infantry, which you will have access to since gatlings are an endgame unit. They have similar if not more dps and ou can then still use the infantry in sieges, to block cavalry, and they are much more resistant to damage. You can also reposition them during a battle which is very difficult to do with artillery. The only benefit of gatlings is the better range, but in that case take armstrongs. They really need much better dps to be worth taking.
Hey, Legend. I made a huge noob mistake during my first siege battle because I’d never seen you make the same one before. I set the gates on fire and sent a huge blob of infantry in. The gates collapsed and I lost over 1000 men 😂😂😂
seen this bug in Shogun 2 before. In naval battles, retreating ships would get stuck on the red line. units set on fire at will wont "see" them, cant target them with anything either... cant board
Doomstack for the base game is just 19 naginata samurai with heavy armor. They don't care about cav, they don't care about archers, really the only thing that could beat them would be an entire stack of naginata monks or katana samurai, but you'd never run into an army like that.

Hopefully this attention will get them to fix the game for people with broken mods who can no longer revert to base game without mod manager
The new mod manager works fine
@@bigdoinkers1452it doesn’t work for me and lot of other people
All these shogun 2 videos gon make me act up ahaa and download it after years of not touching it at all
I got this scenario once in rome 2 were i had a army of 600 and when it was done i had 300 left
For first person mode for galling guns. They made it super big brain... if u aim out of range of the galling guns it won't let u shoot. Which is smart cuz otherwise I would shoot from way out of range and mow infantry across the map down... so u need to aim lower or directly at infantry
Only bugs can defeat Legend.
The fact the AI actually makes wooden cannons is always funny too me.
Ai loves wooden cannons. Large trad armies always field them
Legend playing Total World War 1.
Loved this!!!
This Type of aemy is what i see as a set up and go make dinner army. Since my laptop is old as fck i often set up simillar and Just go cooking :-)
12:47 If I witnessed what they did I'd walk backwards too
Shogun 2 fall of the shogun is my favorite total war game to watch, that and warhammer
Ikit claw would be proud
At last! The game has cheased over the Legend xD)
It's funny how Legend still thinks like a Skaven, with his weapon team destroying multiple armies. This was one of the funniest battles i seen on this channel ^_^
I think this battle is the most epic in tw history .
I watched this a year later .
