For a pocket-sized smart meter s11 is not that bad. I lowkey want to try one of these now, as they say. But I'm 100% with you on those test leads. They even color coded their input terminals right and then went bonkers on the leads. 🤪 The worst part of course is that, as you said, no standard size leads will fit the meter. That's probably my biggest beef with s11.
Yes, the non captive leads are a step in the right direction but they have to make them a standard size otherwise what's the use?
@@KeepOnTesting Would an adapter be reasonable AKA safe/accurate?
Personally I wouldn't try. Too much that can happen. Ideally the leads were standard size.
@@KeepOnTesting Too bad. That kicks it off my list for sure. Not worth the frustration the moment a lead breaks.
@@JB-fh1bbI'll never understand why they don't simply put an industry standard input jack. 🙄
Thank you for your efforts in the reviews, it helps a lot with the choice. Health to you !!!
I have a Aneng 683. Was surprised how accurate it is. I took the gold standard in substation protection test equipment, a fully calibrated Omicron CMC and fed the meter with exact voltage and current levels both ac and DC. Almost spot on throughout the range!
Thanks for sharing! Aneng can make some good gear when they put their mind to it!
Hi Darren thanks for another great review👍
Thx Shaun ! 😀👍
...bought one of these at time of this review...still going strong...
Awesome, that's what I like to hear!
Could you do a side by side comparison on which multimeters are the fastest in capacitance mode?
Noted... thx .
I'll also add a capacitance timer to the Multimeter spreadsheet for future reference.
thank you~ GJX 902040 700mAh 3.7v 2.59wh battery
Correct me if I'm wrong but on the bside s11 you can hold the power button to turn off auto shut off
I was looking forward of acquiring ANENG 620a
Shoulda demonstrated that backlight going off in the rant in a low light condition to maximize the effect 😝😝
True enough👍 I opted for the slowwww death scene instead.. hehe 🥴
Why didn't they just hardwire the leads like the Sanwa? Thanks for the review! It does look pretty. Lead color-scheme and not being able to use while recharging really kill it for me.
I hear ya...game stoppers for sure!
There's so many pros in this Suettla, good job. I think the bummers would be the non-standard jack size and no tilt-stand. 🤪
I concur! Why oh why don't they include tilt stands...or st least a magnetic hanger ??
@@KeepOnTesting yes, even a magnetic hanger will do. But other than that, I think this Suettla S11 is one of the badass among the smart meter family. Accuracy & speed (in manual mode) is awesome. 👍
This could have been a very nice smartphone-style DMM had they paid a little more attention to those cons you pointed out. As it stands, it's at best only worth the three stars you gave it. Also the rechargeable Li-ion battery is a nice touch and it avoids using the usual CR20xx coin cell batteries that only last a few hours.
Definitely a bonus not having to use those buttons cells..it charges fast and the USB-C connectivity makes alot of sense. 👍
It is happening! .... I predict future multimeters would be smarter, looking identical to a smartphone but they have every testing instrument capabilities 😁.
You are psychic my friend! 👍
Finish watchin... rechargeable batts are a big plus, now having 2nd thought of acquiring this instead of Aneng 620a... 😂
That coloured "bargraph" might look nice, but its pretty much useless since it has no real indicators and is just as slow with update as the digits themselves. It takes a huge amount of screen estate as well. The High-voltage warning sign is cool though.
True enough...it's flashy but not very accurate..hopefully we'll get an improved colored bargraph at some point.
You made confusing by switching the shrouds on the test-leads!
I have the S20 and it beeps for everything - and half the time it's warbled. It's so freakin' loud and it can't be turned off. Continuity and standard beeps are the same volume. I used the too-sensitive EMF mode and it's like the security system is going off and everybody runs for the emergency exits. I opened her up and changed the resistor BSIDE the buzzer (see what I did there) from 10 ohms to 36 ohms [edit: went back in to make it 120 ohm], which cut things back to less obnoxious levels. Yeah, I know everybody wants loud continuity buzzers - but on this device continuity mode isn't particularly great anyway, not unlike the overall accuracy of the unit. It's not like I'm going to be using this device somewhere on a busy street, more likely a quiet office or lab environment at best. It's eye candy, a pretty toy, probably great for kid's first DMM.
Yessir..the beeping is annoying as heck 😅 unbelievable why it can't be disabled! I definitely would have loved this svelte dmm as my first multimeter 👍
Is the True RMS real?
The cheap meters used to be accurate onle for signwaves as they did not have an integration chip and simply used the average.
Cool, is that a rebranded Bside brand?
Of all the cheap but good multimeters which is your absolute favorite?
God bless.
I honestly don't have a favorite...I use alot of different test instruments..However one of my new favorite multimeters that I'm constantly reaching for is the Manual ranging ZOTEK ZT-980. Of course the new Kaiweets HT118E is also tough to beat. 👍
@@KeepOnTesting Thanks for the ZT=980 mentions I put a mark on that on the local online shop.
I researched some more, I think you will find a new :-) low cost multimeter but quite good from among the popular low cost but quite good multimeter brands (Bside, Zotak, Uni-T, Aneng & Kaiweets usually) vs. the quite popular high-end: Fluke, Sanwa (Japan) or Tektronix or Brymen (EEVblog's multimeter manufactuer).
Check out the ZT-M1 (BSIDE brand seems to be the original, there's a Zoyi which is little cheaper by US$4 but seems to be a rebrand) at only US$32 for the Bside brand.
I'm not sure about the durability if dropped or longevity but the range is amazing, it beats the high-end ones at that price, one can measure the smallest capacitor 0.001nF to a huge 100mF (that could mean really small, almost can't see w/ the naked eye smd capacitors to huge power supply caps, I think), same w/ everything. It's got temp and amps too w/ amazing range as well (DC current and AC). But I may be wrong.
I'll buy it as soon as the seller replies w/ my inquiry (that's how I test I won't wait for nothing after, sometimes 30 days w/ some pre-order only stores which I avoid now unless there's a rating, someone bought and received it) hopefully the seller is legit but there's 7 day protection anyway for the refund from the local online platform.
God bless- 2023 is our for the takin by God's grace. Rev. 21:4
I just ordered it but on Bside's official site it says Capacitance range is 0.001nF to 100mF but on the Function it starts and ends at 9.99nF then 99.99mF?

I see you already reviews the ZT-M1 3 years ago X-D I cancelled my order I hope the seller cancels it.
Nice looking, too much like a smartphone tho... I'm with you on the backlight! I had to flash my uni-t 139c to have the BL stay on 💡
Nothing like being able to read that display in the dark..good job on the 139c upgrade!
If you look at the instruction thingy with the s11 you can long hold the power button and the backlight/meter will just stay on
Nice review, I have seen a few of these style of meters around, but never purchased one myself yet...... I presume a set of leads with non-shrouded plugs would fit into the jacks. Thought the input protection was a little weak myself.
Cheers my friend! 👍Definitely a hobby style meter, light use intended. Input Protection was meager but probably sufficient. The inputs are very tiny and even non shrouded leads are a problem.
@@KeepOnTesting That's not good if non-shrouded connectors are also awkward. I suppose you could cut off the probe at the other end and replace it with a standard 4mm to use crocs and grabbers as well as probes.
@@three-phase562 Definitely a work around...so much simpler if they just used standard inputs.. they definitely had the space.
smart multimeter and smart review awesome

Hello! I enjoyed your review of the BSIDE S11 Multimeter! I noticed there is no where to download the manual in a PDF file.
I have created a PDF of the manual that is much easier to read for your subscribers and if could tell me how I will upload it to you! Thanx again! :-)
Hi Richard..that's awesome..can you email it to me : netplicity1@gmail.com

Great stuff ! It's a good multimeter! 👍
Which one do you prefer more at all, this one or the aneng 620a? :)

@@KeepOnTesting thank you, bro! S11 is really beautiful, but I will go for the performance :)

What about AC/DC Current? It doesn't have this function!
I mentioned it had no current support in the video a few times..
Actually I wanted to have multimeter for general purposes in a case which I could take with me everywhere. I like your S11 review and bought it :)
Thanks for the review on the s11. I wanted this meter just for its rechargeable battery however if it doesn't measure correctly its useless. I can +or - one 10 thousandth of a point off ,I will be buying the s11 after watching this review 👍
It's not a color LCD, it's just coloured segments. That battery is SMOL considering that size of a screen with a backlight...good touch on not letting it turn on when charging (because it is quite close to the test lead inputs themselves!) and that test lead dilemma is hideous and against the code in the CHEAP-O realm where leads don't last that long...
Sooooo true 👍 I would've preferred captive leads instead of a proprietary setup because once the leads go south or if they get lost.. . It will be a huge PIA trying to find a replacement.
Some things I still perfer replaceable batteries. Just having to keep stuff charged is annoying for devices like this. Id rather have AAAs.
Good point ...I think the charge life is a big factor. If the meter stays charged for weeks or months it's not a bad option. If you have to charge every time you need it..definitely not good.
new multimeters are starting to look like cell phones. others still use the 1980s case.
Like your videos. Yes, Those probe leads have to go. Very annoying their color combination.
Agreed 👍 The test leads dual color banding make no sense. I mixed up the pos/neg on more than one occasion 🙃
This vid sold me on the 620A
Okey
No electrical current
These "phone-y" meters always seem to be centered around drawing in cell phone junkies and they look appealing on first glance, but virtually always come up short on functionality. I just dont see the practicality in foregoing basic functionality and practicality just for the sake of masquerading as a cell phone device. In the year 2021 theres no excuse that a stand of some kind IE chrome wire or otherwise cant be designed in especially since the meter has some glare at angles and it needs to be viewed from straight on if possible. But a stand wont work anyway in this case as the leads would interfere at the bottom and prevent the meter from sitting correctly even with a stand unless its some special design Then there's the proprietary leads you can never replace which theres no excuse for as ive seen at least one meter of this size IE the SATA meter show in the video that accepts standard leads. Then with little or no input protection as well as no current function and a rechargeable battery I have to ask how good battery life is with that large LCD display - IMO its much more practical to have an easily removable cover and be able to change batteries on the spot so if it goes down youre not a slave to the charger. In every one of these theres always fairly major compromises just so it can wear a kitchy cell phone case. These all seem to be niche meters that focus more on the cool factor of looking like a phone device than serving all the purposes a meter is intended for, the designers and marketers of these type meters seem to subscribe to the same mantra as blue tooth designers - every thing is better with blue tooth, or in this case looking like a cell phone, the whole thing feels like a marketing design. Given the fact you can get a fully functional Kaiweets HT118A for the same money unless you really need the negatives associated with a pretender cell phone case id say these phone-posers have limited practicality in a lot of real world applications. Im surprised the cell phone marketers like Apple havent figured out a way to actually include meter functions in their cell phones--lol Maybe the fact they havent kinda shows the impracticality and/or low demand for the idea in the first place.
Well..leave it to Mr Yammerino to dissect this multimeter to high heaven, all I can say is..Yessir ! I agree 100% Style and functionality are great features but never at the sake of performance or safety.

Negative No current support not even mA.
