This is a fantastic interview with Charlie Starr. Blackberry Smoke is the best band in the land! I’m a fairly new listener and tell everyone about them.
Oh man you are in for a real treat. They've got so many awesome songs. They are all good people and they have been through alot and still going through even heavier battles of life now. Pray for all of em. I've seen them play. They are awesome beautiful souls. Check him out with Brent Cobb and Adam hood. Think it was on southern rounds or something like that.
Charlie reminds me of my family in Kentucky where I was born. Down to Earth and just a nice human being in general. We need more Charlie's in this world.
I had not heard ANY music that enthused me until I heard BBS. Blew me away. Absolutely the best band I have heard since Skynyrd. Charlie Starr is amazing .
I've waited 40 years for a great southern rock band to arrive and 4 1/2 years ago I saw BBS on a DTV channel, I think it was called Applause. Kust caugjt the tail end of the last song and I was stoked! A few months later I learned that they were at the Truckers Jamboree at the I80 truck stop I was at work but I told my boss that I was sick, jumped on my bike and raved down the road about an hour or so and caught the last half of their show. Heaven brother! Young talented musicians jammin southern rock! Seen them 3 times since and am going to the hostoric Surf ballroom in April to catch my 5th show. LOVE IT!!!!!!!
I have said those very words....absolutely amazing best damn band around!! I just saw them in Chattanooga tn for about my 20th show....love the Homecomings in Atl and the shows at the Shed in Maryville are awesome...🎶❤💃WOW

I live with back pain everyday. So I listen everyday to all music for my pain level .I went and seen Blackberry Smoke and now they are my go to. So Thank you all.

My cool ass Dad turned me on to them in 2011.Dude it was so refreshing to hear a band that were actually Signature.We went to Ziggy's about a hour drive from Kannapolis N.C. We paid 50 bucks a piece to be close to the stage in the ground area no seats it was a different totally friendly southern experience.2013 Whipperwhil tour .We very well were at the same concert.My Dad passed away in 2020 but I have that show and there music as a connection to my Dad's memory.Fellow Brother damn good reading this.Lets watch 2024 go up in smoke!!

I love Blackberry Smoke. I have seen them twice in Houston. The both times they put on a great show. The first time the crowd was small, but they just still put in the full effort. The second time this year was a packed house and they even played harder. I got to meet the whole band at the meet and greet, they took the time to make every person there feel important to them. This was a great interview. They are just a solid band and thank God that the timing was right and they all came together. Ain't Much Left Of Me was my anthem, such a great song. Great song writing, great playing, great people.
One of the most amazing bands around. The core fans are literally like family. The shows at The Shed are like a big family reunion. It's actually called the brothers and sisters reunion tour.
@@charlesshepherd2004 just bought my Blackberry Smoke tickets for June earlier this week. The shows are set for June 9th, 10th, and 11th. The 11th is a Saturday night and already sold out.
Fantastic interview! Charlie and the whole band are the best musicians and entertainers out there today. Terrific human beings to boot! These guys have been my family’s official band for years now. All my 15 year old son knows is BBS concerts. My son plays the drums, and Brit is a big inspiration. God bless Brit Turner. So sorry for your loss Charlie. Brit was such a class act! Never forget when we were in the eighth row at show at the State Theatre in Kalamazoo Michigan several years back. Brit must have noticed my then 9 year old son standing on his seat, singing the words to every song. At the end of the show, Brit walked to the edge of the stage, handed the setlist to another fan, and pointed to my son. He still has that setlist and he never forgot that simple act on Brit’s part.
I discovered Blackberry Smoke thru youtube/a great way to learn new music/ now that i've heard Charlie talk about his influences, makes total sense that I would like them. What youtube is to us now is what radio was in the 60's and 70's. PEACE.
I remember the first time I saw these guys, was on direct tv a show they did at an open air festival outdoors somewhere. I was immediately hooked and had to know more about them. Couldn’t find a damn thing more but followed them as more came out over the years. Finally they did a tour with Govt Mule and played red rocks. That’s where I finally saw them live for the first time. Awesome band, great music and the hippies are cool as can be. This is the band I always wanted to be in.
Great in depth interview! I love Blackberry Smoke and I'm so very proud of the mature band/people they have become. They just never disappoint. Sobriety is the best choice that could've been made. I moved to NM from ATL in 2011. worked at a bar in Santa Fe known for live music. The first time I heard "I Can Feel a Good One Comin' On" was ironically - a cover band from Espanola called "Reckless". Been a fan ever since.
Charlie is my dude 🤘🏼 I’m from Spartanburg ( home of Marshall Tucker Band ) and saw BBS in Spartanburg and there the closest thing to the old lineup of MTB I’ve saw ! Love it

Well, To be honest I can't really remember what year he passed. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about Larry and picking my Bass with him.
Winston Salem North Carolina outdoors at Ziggys was awesome with Drake White opening n another band with this awesome band with a fiddle slayer stealing the show n the BBS came out and Killed it ! Best lineup ever ! 🤘🏼🤟🏼

My Dad turned me on to Smoke in 2011 gotta say the first time I got really excited in a band since the 90s.2013 on the Whipperwhil tour we paid 50 bucks a piece to stand close to the band in the roped off ground area at Ziggy's a hour away from home.My Dad passed away in 2020 but we had a great experience around friendly fans dude it felt like home and the music will always be a connection I'll have in my Dad's memory who was a pretty good guitar player himself something else he turned me on to.Love you Dad and Brother I wish you good times and a great life!

great interview. but Charlie has to know the comments about racism around 38:25 can be troubling. If you're outside of the group that's affected by something, you have to listen more than you speak. that goes for skin color, gender, ability status, etc. we can't say something doesn't exist in our town just because we don't see it
I honestly don't think he could have answered the question better.We listen because people are so sensitive and automaticlly get angry at small things.I sense you're not a real fan of the band or you'd realize how good hearted and intelligent the Band is.I can tell you life is hard if you stay bitter or thin skinned Best of Wishes to you brother

I honestly don't think he could have answered the question better.We listen because people are so sensitive and automaticlly get angry at small things.I sense you're not a real fan of the band or you'd realize how good hearted and intelligent the Band is.I can tell you life is hard if you stay bitter or thin skinned Best of Wishes to you brother
