SEGA is REWRITING Shadows' Backstory?!

So Sonic X Shadow Generations released a sneak peek of an animated video set to release with the game with one of the CLEANEST animations ive ever seen. This cutscene seems to show a new backstory for Shadow and Maria... along with the suprise appearance of a long lost character...

This isn't actually a rewrite. We've known since Sonic Battle that Gerald had gizoids on the ark.

Shadow's backstory IS NOT rewritten. If you paid attention to Battle's story, you'll know that Gerald found Emerl and experiments on him, resulting in the latter going insane and almost destroying the Ark. Shadow recognizes Emerl at first glance in Battle, showing that these two already met back in the Ark, and this animation simply shows how their encounter went down. Nothing has been rewritten.

If I had a nickel for everytime shadow came out with a game that was an improved version of a previous sonic game, Id have two, which isnt a lot but tis strange thay it happened twice.

While it isn't a rewrite, but something that arguably was the final straw that made GUN decide invade and shutdown the ARK, to be fair to you, Gerald having Emerl 50 years ago is not super well known to many! However, buddy, your excitement is GREAT, literally the same level of excitement my friends and myself have for this too haha. Yes, take our money indeed!

I’m loving this, but I’m really hoping they’re not trying to actually rewrite shadows backstory, instead I hope this is just some kind of event that happened on his time in the ark

It's not being rewritten. It was mentioned in Battle that Emerl was in the Ark at one point and went insane after being experimented on, and Shadow witnessed what happened because he was that time.
