- Stormgate's third faction has been revealed: the Celestial Armada! PiG explains the basics of the Celestials faction which includes some mechanics that are highly unusual, followed by casts of two high-level matches.
Unfortunately everyone's expectation that the new faction would be cat girls has been severely let down, but perhaps there's a chance down the line as the fourth faction or beyond :P

I'm glad to see more radically different RTS factions, takes me back to the month when Grey Goo was relevant, all 4 of its factions were so wildly varying with power hubs, teleporting or evolving buildings and The Goo's distinct lack of bases and air units.
YES, I love Grey Goo. That game is so different and interesting. Tragic it never got the attention it deserves.
I really appreciate you bringing Probe and Albino for the context, specially with how much the Vanguard strategy seems to have changed from the previous Beta (although it might be a matchup thing).
I hope they do something about the felhog behavior, it's really weird that their spawn location is random.

Very cool. I really appreciate it when devs innovate and they added a lot of dynamic mechanics to this race that will result in creative builds. Love it.

I like the ideas the devs have, but I just hope they polish up the animations and graphics a bit more before release. Right now I worry that people will take one look and decide it's like a mobile game or something.

Recently heard someone mention that fights sound like rain on a tin roof, and I can't unhear it... hope they do a good pass on the sounds.
This video partially renewed my hope for Stargate (though not to the initial hype levels). The factions are an interesting mash-up between Undead, Protoss, Elves, etc. The mechanics do seem interesting. But boy they need to fix the visuals asap. I literally had to force myself to ignore the ugliness for a few minutes until I started to enjoy the cast.
I hope looks much better when we get better lighting and better maps, but they really need to hurry up with that before people give up on this.

I feel like a protoss player created this class and said "how does it feel terran?" Then lifts up his buildings.
One thing that this faction has revealed to me is that many RTS players haven't touched Command & Conquer. A lot of mechanics are ported from CNC, but a lot of players describe them in SC terms
I really like the theme on the Celestial, I think they are basically a version of Stargate Atlantis Goa'uld or what people that believe in ancient civilisation seeded by a god race is. I mean the even have the abduct ability on creep camps and the style of buildings are all sharp corners and obelisklike. I'm guessing they don't care at all about humans which is why we still have to fight them but they see their mission as defending the universe from the other dimensional Infernals.

So basically this is like Starcraft for Diablo and you have a demon and angel race and the humans, except this is diablo 15 and it takes places in the future at this point
The Celestials look really cool! I like them but I really hope that the campaign isn't going to have basically the same story as Starcraft 1 & 2, i.e. Terran with tons of infighting eventually loses to Zerg and Protoss has to come in and save the day. I mean it made sense to have Terran as the first campaign because the mechanics are just like what you know from other RTS games and Zerg second so that the antagonists aren't last, which is probably why Warcraft 3 did the same thing as well, but I want to see a different approach and so far the only different approach I've seen from Blizzard is the "Evil Wins" type of story in both Broodwar and TFT.
I don't like the look of the game either. It has potential but the graphics let me shudder.
Even in Brood War though, the epilogue has Kerrigan basically exploring the universe searching for the threat that she has consciousness of. It’s a quick read I think right before the credits.
So it is ‘evil wins’ but it’s also unsettling because you think what could possibly have Kerrigan on edge after she has defeated the UED and left everyone else broken and battered?
Yeah the factions dont feels right and i think i can almost see a boring campaign in Front of my eyes😅
if i try stormgate, this race will be my reason to. Angels are my morning wood.

This race is like SC protoss & terran with a WC undead skin lol... Not sure what to think of it.
I'm patiently waiting but so far, I don't know how i feel about this game. It still jsut doesn't click with me, but I'm hoping it will. SC really needs to be dethroned!

Really hoping to see a video titled Stormgate: graphics overhaul. Would also like to see unit movement increased. Everything crawls in this game compared to SC2.

This looks wayyyy too similar to SC. And all the players in denial will say “it lOoKs NoTHING lIKE SC” but the majority of people are saying it sooooo take off your rose colored glasses and admit this game is Walmart SC2
It was made by the SC2 devs. I don't think anyone is saying it isn't similar, it wears its heritage very openly. But unlike SC2, the devs are in complete control, and can support this game for as long as they want, instead of some higher power giving them the axe for ambiguous business reasons.
Almost all the factions look boring art wise they are to safe and basic i hope they will add something more interredting later on
i don't like the art. If you told me it was the human race i wouldn't know the difference. They should've just made them angelic , looks too much like what terrans would build.
These are preliminary models, they'll (supposedly) doll them up for the release version. But the general art style kinda sucks, yeah.
+1, why make them so bulky? Vanguard and Infernals are bulky already. Should be slim or something like that

It does not seem like they are trying to be creative with this but just trying to do SC2 in a different light. I get it because you still want to sell the game but I do not think it innovates much
So far i'm less and less sold on stormgate, wtf. The game is so full of move-and-shoot units that are apparently extremely obnoxious to play against, if the main meta is to promote them and then just win games. The graphics still look like a mobile game, though a bit less so. There seems to be so much there that's focused on "win more" or mechanically flashy plays... But then, why not just play sc 2 instead if you're here for that. Meh, let's see what's gonna come out of it, but so far, nothing really innovative in stormgate at all, celestials just borrow most of their stuff from CnC Red alert 3 Empire of the rising sun it seems.
Honestly the gameplay looks so much like SC that i have to question ¿What is the point?. You could probably do a better game with a mod in SC2, and easier.
Very big difference between "looks like SC" and "plays like SC". This could not be made as an SC2 mod.
