    Hilarious, in the late 70s I lived at a place called 'Little Acres' the guy who owned it grew mushrooms for a living, they weren't dinner mushies tho.......

    Great instructions and can’t wait to try the kits out too! Will these mushroom kits generate spores and spread it to other areas?

    • @littleacre
      @littleacre  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They will drop spores if you leave them too long. It's unlikely they would spread and grow anywhere without landing on a viable substrate.

    In these kits can I spoon out the substrate and put it into aluminum foil for tucking into a terrarium, such as in a little tree hollow? Thanks!

    • @littleacre
      @littleacre  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can take the block out and conceal it in a hollow or a setting and it will grow mushrooms but if you break it up or just take a small amount out it won't go so well.

    Why not do both sides? Seems like it would produce more mushrooms.

    • @littleacre
      @littleacre  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, you can cut both sides at once and get 2 smaller clusters or cut just one side and concentrate the mycelium's fruiting energy into one area, resulting in a larger cluster.

    🙏can you eat the oyster varieties raw, and or dehydrated?

    • @littleacre
      @littleacre  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nala, we recommend cooking all mushrooms as the cell walls are made of chitin which our bodies can not break down. In order to release the nutritional compounds in the mushrooms, the chitin walls must be broken with heat. Cooking your mushrooms will release all their flavour as well as all the good stuff they contain. Dehydrated mushrooms can easily be soaked in water for a few minutes to get them plump again, then you can cook them. Raw oyster mushrooms can taste bitter or metallic. When cooked they can be sweet and nutty, some even taste like chicken 😉
