Growing your own vegetables is perfect for anyone who wants produce that is fresh and full of nutrients. Rather than only growing vegetables, you should also delve into the world of growing mushrooms! With our Mushroom Kit, you can grow gourmet mushrooms anywhere in your home, all year round. It’s perfect for enjoying nutritious, tasty mushrooms whenever you want them. Even better, our Mushroom...
Can I put a plastic bag over the kit if my kitchen [and house] has a drying effect
yes you can make a little humidity tent for the kit if you've got very dry conditions, just make sure to put some holes in the bag or remove it semi-frequently otherwise the mushrooms can suffocate, they need fresh air
Does it need to be in the light, or would my pantry be suitable
some light is required to help the mushrooms orientate themselves and develop their natural colours - keep in full shade but with natural light
Excellent video thank you! Where can I purchase this kit?
If you're in Australia - direct from our website littleacre.com.au
Would cutting a big X be alright? Or does it need to be small?
It will still grow, but it will form many smaller Lion's Mane in the shape of the X area rather than one larger Lion's Mane. It spreads the growth across the surface area instead of concentrating the energy of the mycelium into forming one fruiting body.
This is brilliant! I love Loins Mane, I'd get it through our food co-op. As a liveaboard boatie, I really enjoy growing these onboard, so I can have lovely fresh mushrooms at the tip of my fingers! Especially when a visit to the shops isn't as easy as jumping in the car!
Great video great product!
Like who watch aftr shrk tnk
This is by far one of the best, instructional videos on TH-cam. So easy to follow. Answered all my questions. Great job!
Where can I buy it ?
If you're in Australia you can buy it direct from our website littleacre.com.au
I was looking into doing this DIY and then spotted these at coles. I think it'll be a good way to get a feel for the process
when yall gonna come out with the psilocybin kits 😆
What kind of weather is required???
I will buy my next kit from you
Is it ok to leave it on the kitchen bench with a lot of light but no direct sunlight? Or will it work by leaving it in a cupboard? Thanks!
the kitchen bench with light is totally fine - just no direct sunlight :)
Watch shark tank India season 3 and ask that guy money who is selling this product exactly as it is
My lions main is going a bit yellow. What does that mean?
I just heard in the video it means it’s drying out.
Will it feel better or larger in a dark environment? Yy
These mushrooms need some light, just keep them out of direct sunlight. Think about the level of light coming through a forest canopy, that's what is ideal for mushrooms.
@@littleacre THANK YOU!! 🙂
Psilocybin containing mushroom saved my life. They drastically reduced my benzodiazepine withdrawal allowing me to quite illicit pill addiction after three years of heavy daily use before it would had become medically dangerous to quit. It has also helped me survive depression.
My friend told me about how psilocybin shrooms helped him deal with trauma, anxiety and depression. I would love to try them though I haven't found any legit grower to get it.
Please does anyone know where I can get them? I put so much on my plate and it really affects my stress and anxiety levels, I would love to try shrooms
I get it.
I just ordered one of your lions mane kits today. Looking forward to growing this fantastic mushroom. You make the instructions look really easy. Thanks.
Can I get spores, from the mushrooms, after harvest, to start more LM?
Using a spore print to culture mushrooms is possible but very difficult without all the equipment. It's much quicker and easier to start with mushroom grain spawn for cultivating mushrooms. Using Lion's Mane grain spawn you can add this to your own prepared substrates to grow more Lion's Mane.
I have a glass of water with a wet napkin hanging out the side to help with moisture because it may be dry in my room. Is that a bright idea or just completely pointless? It’s only been a couple of days and I can see a light brown on a little part. Is that normal?
Could you not take it out the box and put it in soil to get a continuous larger yield?
Lion's Mane is a wood-loving fungi, it won't grow in soil. The substrate inside the kit is made of hardwood sawdust.
@@littleacre thank you. So if i got a raised bed and filled it with such sawdust would that work?
@@ChibabaDave Hardwood Sawdust (from Beech, Elm, Oak, Maple, Birch) amended with Bran is one of the best substrates for growing Lion's Mane.
When i brought my kit home from the store the bag was full of liquid. Is it still ok to use or has it gone bad?
Hi there, this doesn't sound right. Please email us a photo of your kit and the stockist you bought it from to hello@littleacre.com.au and we can assist you further. Thank you
Hey. Just got one of these. Is the bag meant to be really moist and wet already before we cut the X?
I’ve been pouring extra water onto the block because the air is very very dry in the winter in my country with the heat on all the time
can you not just remove the harvested surface to get a little more yield on top of the multiple flushes?
Hi, not sure what you mean exactly but if you remove the mycelium layer from the substrate it will take much longer for a second flush to form as the mycelium will have to regrow
Is that a Turkey Tail back there??? 🤯
No, it's a native Ganoderma species found growing on a fig tree root
Instead of saying centimeter, or inch in case most don't know what that is, I wish people would say the size of a golf ball or something universally recognizable.
Again a golf ball is not universally recognizable
Most people do know what inches or centimeters are. Maybe you should educate yourself.
@@Butternuttsss I don't know about Americans under 30, but I'd wager any amount a majority over 30 don't know how many centimeters in an inch. I'm a dual Canadian citizen. It's interesting how they use the metric system but I'll bet none of them know how to say a 2x4 or a 4x8 sheet of plywood in metric. And if you ask them how much they weigh, they'll say pounds. The metric system makes more sense, especially celsius when you're using something like water as the benchmark, but it's just not how many of us learned it. Not our fault
@gcxred4kat9 if you can Google this you can Google measurements.
@@gcxred4kat9You're right you don't know. Anybody complaining about measurements online when they could simply use some sort of measuring aid should really just keep their mouth shut.
Ok, but what if i would chop them up and dihydrate them , crush them up in powder form and create Lionmane pills. Did you ever make pills or do you just cook them in Raw form? Can i also cut a small X on the smaller sides of the grow box? Can i create a small opening on the smaller sides of the grow box because the box has 4 sides (So potentially you could grow 4 times?) 🤔 ❤ 👍👍👁
Where is the best site to order the kits?
We recommend cutting just one opening at a time. This helps to concentrate the growth into one larger fruiting body. If you open multiple small holes you may get multiple smaller fruit bodies or they may choose to grow only from 1 or 2 openings. To make a bio-available mushroom powder you need to make a liquid extraction then you need to use a spray dryer to create a powder from a liquid, like how they make milk powder. If you simply dry the fruiting body and grind into a powder you aren't unlocking the beneficial compounds from the mushroom, which are locked up in their chitin cell walls. You need to use heat to break the chitin, so cooking the fresh mushrooms is probably more beneficial than drying them and grinding into a powder.
@@Markuz1775 you can order these kits directly from our website littleacre.com.au if you are in Australia. Unfortunately we don't offer international shipping on mycelium products and kits due to their fragile nature and the distances they would have to travel.
I can’t wait to try growing Lions mane. Your video was extremely informative

thank you
Simple and easy to understand.
one of the best explanations ever!!
Where can i order one?
From our website :) littleacre.com.au/products/lions-mane-mushroom-grow-kit
Why not do both sides? Seems like it would produce more mushrooms.
Hi there, you can cut both sides at once and get 2 smaller clusters or cut just one side and concentrate the mycelium's fruiting energy into one area, resulting in a larger cluster.
Need a link to be able to directly go buy
You can purchase these kits directly from our online shop at littleacre.com.au We ship to Australia only.

Does this box need ambient sunlight? Would it help to drape a plastic cover over it to hold on moisture? Have you thought about making a punch out for the side so that you can get two mushrooms for each flush?
Hi there, yes some light is good. No direct sunlight but just ambient natural light is fine. If your conditions are particularly dry you could create a humidity tent but most of the time regular misting does the job. As long as you can see condensation under the plastic then there is enough humidity. Any yellowing or the growing Lion's Mane is a sign of it being too dry in the air. We recommend turning the block around in the box to cut the other side for growing the second flush. It's best to grow from one hole at a time with this size kit so the energy of the mycelium is concentrated in one location. Opening several holes at once will result in tiny Lion's Mane.
@@littleacre Thank you
Do you deliver to Algeria?
I am sorry we don't ship internationally at the moment, only in Australia
How often should I must it when starting
Hi Henry, how much you mist depends on how humid your current conditions are. If it's quite dry you may need to mist more regularly but generally 3-5 times per day. As long as you can see condensation under the plastic then there is adequate humidity.
Can you take it out the box and put it in something cute for the kitchen? Lol
Where can I order?
I bought the kit however after a week there is nothing coming out. I thought it is too dry. So I put it into the laundry. Still nothing coming out and the soil turns into greenish. Let me know what shall I do now ? Thanks
If you're having trouble with your Grow Kit please email us with some photos to the email listed on the grow kit box and we'll be able to help you from there and provide a replacement kit if required. Thank you, Amy
You make it look so easy, I really want to give this a try as long as it does not need sunlight. However, you don't mention where I can buy these kits. Please give me a starting place.
Hi Nancy, you can purchase our kits directly from our website littleacre.com.au We ship to Australia only.
You don’t ship parcels to USA? 😔
@@littleacrey’all need to ship to the USA.
Well that sucks🇺🇸
Amazing one of the best and most straight forward explanations. Thank you ❤
Can you consume the mushroom raw? I just know that when you fry vegetables then they lose much of their vitamins.
Hi there, that's a great question. Mushrooms are actually the opposite to vegetables. Mushroom cells are made of chitin, whereas vegetables are made of cellulose. The nutritional compounds of the mushroom are locked up in these cells which need to be broken down with heat. So if you eat mushrooms raw, you're not getting any of their benefits. Cooking mushrooms will release their flavour and nutritional compounds so we recommend always cooking mushrooms :)
Ok.
Are these considered organic?
Hi Judy, our grow kits are made using Australian hardwood sawdust, and Australian grown non-GMO soy hulls.
