I just appreciate that I can hear Billy G. talk in my home through this medium. We lost Jimi 50 years ago, and here we have Billy addressing us still, after so many years delivering the goods, and no sign of stopping - amazing!!

Billy G. & I sat on the tailgate of my pickup truck at Albert King's retirement party at a "Black" nightclub in West Memphis, AR. on a pea gravel parking lot, a year or so before Albert passed. I tried to get him to go in and jam with Albert & Joe Walsh, who was also there, but because of his management contract at that time, Billy could not jam with them. Hard to believe I know but all absolutely true! We just sat on my tailgate and listened and talked. I had met Billy several times at Ardent Studios in Memphis, and Joe was working at KIVA Studios in Memphis at that time too. I had written 9 songs for Albert and he recorded all of them. 3 have been released on an album called "Red House." and there in lies the connection of why I was there.
It was indeed a great night for me as I found B. Gibbons to be a great guy, easy to talk to and very much just like the rest of us musicians. I remember him picking up my black telecaster at Ardent on night and saying, "This MF plays man." He asked what is it? I told him Tom Keckler had built it out of a 67 Tele body, a 52 Esquire neck and two baby humbuckers double wound. So BG said, "Man that's a FIBSON." It's been my FIBSON ever since. I treasure that guitar and the memory as well.
God Bless You Billy Gibbons and YES Joe Hardy was a special man indeed and he made every session he worked liven up and loosen up as he controlled the room with his amazing recording ability and quick wit. An extremely funny man with a huge heart. RIP. Joe Hardy and God Bless his wife Trish! RIP Dusty and God Bless you as well Mr. Gibbons and my old "FIBSON" is singing hello to ya...

First of all I am blown away by this album Hardware. After listening to the entire composition, the last track Into the Desert, takes me back in a totally different way to Jim Morrison and his poetry. Very Western however, loved it. Great work Billy Gibbons.

I was a tourist in Santa Fe in 1983 looking at the Art and for the first time I experienced the Desert. The car overheated on the drive there and having had to stop, I experienced my first Mirage, surreal. So I kinda know what the artist Billy Gibbons is talking about.

    Hi billy,
your new cd is great. I love ZZtop since 1982. I think it's good that you don't compete with ZZtop on your solo projects. It would be huge for all of your fans if you recorded a CD with your Pearly Gates. I understand that a guitarist develops and of course finds other guitars that sound good. You are the best example of this. Still, it would be a highlight for all of your fans. I saw ZZtop for the first time in 1982 in the Rockpalast. And then again and again. Please do it. It is just the feeling.

08:47 Is it true you used Augie Meyers' original Vox Continental combo organ on your recording of "Hey Baby Que Paso?" I think I hear a cheesy organ line in that recording. Hardware's version of this tune is a bit different from Augie's/Sir Douglas Quintet's/Texas Tornados' conjunto versions.
21:33 the guitar riff on "She's on Fire" sounds familiar; a very similar riff is heard in the song "Stages" from the ZZ Top album "Afterburner."

I'm sure that Mr. Blount and his ilk would welcome your support in the waning days of the maggot who inspired the insurrection that divided modern America.

I guess no more ZZtop. THIS LIKE THIRD ABLUM NOT ZZtop. No real bass player! Lefty upside down backwards guitar player. Just left the other guys behind. Very happy for him but will probably never buy any of his solo album. For as long in recording his story sounds kinda hard to believe. Things being that hard to do. But seems to love to tell stories now. Way more then with ZZ. I guess now he is the center of attention. Then talks about Texas yet this was done in California desert... I guess no deserts in Texas. So more like Califorxas or Texafornia rock. More power to him and his bandmates. Miss that ZZ Top.
