Morley was definitely one of the last of the old brigade. We was popular in Australia because he was in the mold of Harragon, Carrol, Davidson, Roach - we couldn't complain because we were dishing it out just as much as Morley was every week. No one should complain about the shoulder charges. They were a thoroughly legitimate part of the game at the time.

British ref sees Morley throw a high tackle in the first tackle of the game. Ref gives him the deserved red, commentator also said it's a red. But when Willie Mason deserved a red for the punch on Stuart Fielden the Oz ref gave him a pathetic talking to and the Oz commentator said Fielden got the smack he deserved because he squared up to Mason after Mason had given him a couple of cheap digs.
Morley's peak moment was when the RFL signed the Think Don't Drink and Drive deal with the government. Part of the deal was if any player was busted drink driving they'd be dropped from the squad. Adrian Morley gets caught drunk driving and the coach picks him anyway.

Mr Frisky would have loved to have seen Peacock and Fielden in the NRL. 2003-2006 Fielden was immense for the Bulls, unfortunately he was one of those mercurial players where he was almost too good for his body to handle, he was on his way down when signed with Wigan even though he was still relatively young. Same with George Burgess, 2013-2015 he was being touted as the NRL's first million dollar prop, but again his body couldn't hold up...funny how he's now at Wigan too lol
What Moz , Peacock and Gaz Ellis did for as long as they did deserves mad respect.

Fielder peaked before he went to Wigan and for about 2 or 3 years he was unstoppable- I remember the World Club Challenge for Bradford, when he basically beat the NRL champions by himself- was on his way down by the time Mason knocked him down in 2006 (Then Peacock flattened Mason) so was never the same player after that.

The shame is a thug like him was ever tolerated. Nothing wrong with good hard fair tackling. Deliberately swinging an arm at the head/neck or shoulder to the head is not tackling. It is assault. The fact that it happens on a rugby field is no excuse.

We start to get into the situation Union is in now, where a decent hard hit is a penalty because the player lead with his shoulder but still effected the hit with hands !!!!!!!! The video we've just watched is a montage of hits that has been put together !!!!!!! Craig Smith, who played for St Goerge-Illawarra had the same sort of issue !!!!! Overall Adrian Morley was a hard physical player, who trapsed the fine line sometimes, but I didn't see him deliberately go out of his way to be a thug !!!!!! One man's thug is anothers man's enforcer and Rugby, whether it is union or league, is a physical game no matter, and with physical games, someone is going to get hurt, someone is going to dominate and someone is going to win the game !!!!!

@@gregorykillen4564 I played rugby union for many years through school and afterwards. Playing hard is ok. Being physical is ok. Roughing up an opponent is ok if you use fair hard tackling. Standing upright and slamming your shoulder into someone's head or neck is not a tackle. Swinging your arm at someone's head or neck is not a tackle. Its got nothing to do with body angle. Union is a great game. There is a reason Union is far more popular than league. It requires many skills. Rucks, mauls, lineouts, scrums, passing, tackling, kicking and drop goals. It's a game of intellect. In league they just bash into each other. Theres no skill required in league.
