  • See a complete overview of the Western Wall, Western Wall Tunnels, Kotel (Hebrew name), Western Wall Tour, Temple Mount Platform, Southern Stairs, Wailing Wall, and more in Jerusalem. A very biblical, in-depth look at the holiest site in Judaism.

    TOUR TRIPS TO ISRAEL BY TODD FINK: www.holylandsite.com/holy-lan...
    BOOKS ABOUT ISRAEL BY TODD FINK: www.toddmichaelfink.com/books
    Location
    1. The Western Wall, also known as the Wailing Wall (because the Jews weep here during their prayers) is located on the western side of the Temple Mount.
    2. The Western Wall Tunnel is accessed on the northern side of the Western Wall Plaza and runs north to the end of the Temple Mount Platform.
    Historical Background
    1. When the Romans destroyed the temple in 70 AD, part of the western side of the Temple Mount Platform survived. For hundreds of years prior to 1967, people prayed in the small area of the wall that could be seen at that time. However, in 1967, following the Six-Day War, Israelis excavated below the ground level of the wall and found two more stone rows. They then cleared the area around the wall to create the Western Wall Plaza that visitors see today.
    2. The Western Wall is part of the retaining wall, or support wall, that Herod the Great built in 19 BC when he enlarged the Temple Mount complex in order to accommodate a larger temple and Temple Mount area. It was a massive undertaking that required exceptional and sophisticated engineering.
    3. Unlike many think, the Western Wall was not part of the wall of the temple King Herod Built.
    Places of Interest
    1. In the Western Wall Plaza area, a walkway bridge can be seen that tourist use to access the Temple Mount.
    2. The Western Wall Plaza is divided into two sections: a men’s and a women’s section.
    3. The area close to the wall is considered a synagogue, so men must wear a head covering when entering the men’s section.
    4. Most Jews do not enter on the Temple Mount for fear of unknowingly walking in the place where the Holy of Holies might have been. Plus, Muslims do not want them entering there as well.
    5. The Western Wall Plaza is the closest large public area to the temple and Holy of Holies for the Jews. Therefore, it is their most holy site.
    6. On the northern side of the Western Wall is Wilson’s Arch, which is the modern name for a stone arch whose top is still visible today. It once supported a bridge that provided access to a gate that was level with the surface of the Temple Mount during the time of Jesus. Under this arch is a synagogue where Jews pray and read the Scriptures.
    7. The Western Wall Plaza is only 10% of the entire western wall of the Temple Mount Platform. The majority of the wall is accessed by entering what is called “The Western Wall Tunnels.” We will see that part shortly.
    8. The entire length of the Western Wall is 1,575 ft. long (480 m.), almost a third of a mile (.53 km.).
    9. South of the Western Wall are stones that the Romans cast down when they destroyed the city in 70 AD. under the leadership of the Roman General, Titus.
    10. The broken pavement of the street that the massive stones crushed when they fell is sobering to see.
    11. Burn marks remain on some of the stones as a result of fire from the Roman conquest of the city in 70 AD.
    12. There are remains of shops that were part of a large shopping plaza at the southern part of the Western Wall.
    13. This is the same wall that Jesus and His disciples would have seen.
    14. On the Southern Stair entrance to the temple is where Jesus would have taught His disciples and entered the Temple Mount area.
    15. At the southernmost end of the Western Wall is a significant stone which stood upon the uttermost southwestern corner of the Temple Mount.
    • It has words written in Hebrew that mean “The Trumpeter’s House.”
    • A priest would stand at this corner announcing with a loud trumpet the beginning of the Sabbath, and other festival days the Jews celebrated.

      Decades of the enemy’s pollution has infatuated the hearts and minds of all nations that have shared in the intimacy of the sorceries that have functioned through the Wailing Wall. Write My judgment concerning this place of idolatry and lift it up as a standard unto the nations that what has been prized in the eyes of men has been rejected by Me. Lift ye up this standard, Child, and be not ashamed.I will bring the Wailing Wall down from its high place of idolatry where many nations have come to fortify themselves in vanity. Will you swing and pray and offer up sacrifices to stone? Can a wall speak? Will you yet stand before it and call yourselves illuminated? It shall be thrown down as a mighty mill stone that has offended My little ones. I will cut off head and tail. It shall not save thee in the day of trouble. The strong clefts of the rock, I will witness against you that all who have prayed and slid their request into you shall be ashamed. For can a prayer be fortified in idolatry? Can an idol bring it to pass? Are not idols worthless vanities and those who sacrifice to them a heathen? I will break loose and divide asunder the sorceries that have functioned through the Wailing Wall that the heathen may go free and gain knowledge. I delight not in destruction, yet I will judge the high places of the enemy and bring them down into confusion on every side.

    I love your videos and am so grateful for all the hard work you and your team put into them! I was blessed to visit Israel a couple times before my Born Again Salvation, so I didn't fully appreciate my visits at the time, but your videos have helped me get so much more out of my memories of my visits :) I was ran out of the wailing wall by a Pharasee-type woman...lol She even had guards come up to me with their weapons, because I didn't exit the area facing the wall the entire way. I didn't know the "rules", so when I finished at the wall, I turned around and walked out. She came after me screaming and then screamed for armed guards...lol My Israeli Aunt gave them a piece of her mind...lol I was young and stupid and didn't know better. I most definitely didn't have intentions of being disrespectful. They are still very about the "laws" :( Wow! I just rewound your video, and even the Jewish people turn their back while walking away from the wall. Not sure why she tried to target me that day, but she definitely did :( I was horrified when the armed guards approached me and I don't speak much Hebrew, and I couldn't understand what my Israeli Aunt was telling them. I just know afterwards my Aunt said that woman was crazy and it was horrible what she did to me. I was alone at the time, so I guess I was an easy target, or she thought so until my Aunt showed up out of nowhere to save me...lol

    It is also a possibility what is called "the temple mount" is actually the Antonio Fortress which explains why the retaining wall is still remaining. The Temple could have been in the City of David, Mount Zion. The measurements given in the video are about the same as Roman fortresses throughout Europe. Jesus prophesied "not one stone" would be left on another. It was utterly destroyed as prophesied and became as a plowed field. Let the Muslims have the "temple mount" and let the temple be built in where the previous Temples stood. There are other videos on You Tube related to this subject.

    Don't be sad, Pastor, that dome of the rock is coming down soon and will be replaced by the third Temple. After the Ezekiel 38&39 invasion of The Golan Heights I can see the great earthquake that God will send throughout the mountains bringing that dome to rubble. Then the Temple will be built. Ezekiel 40. antichrist has to have a Temple to declare himself god in, and the Temple is shown here in the Millennium. Isaiah 2:2-4.

    Great Information ~ When you mentioned the part about the Holy of Holies we know that this is referring to the era prior to Jesus' time spent among us. That period fell under the Old Law. When our Lord The Savior Jesus Christ was crucified all terms and practices of the Old Law were abolished. Jesus became our High Priest under the New Law. I know that you're fully aware of this but I just wanted to leave the comment.

    It's quite obvious that the so-called "Temple Mount" is NOT where the ancient temple stood. The Roman barracks used to be where this "temple mount" is today. The real temple mount was in the city of David.

    • @HolyLandSite
      @HolyLandSite  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comments. The historical evidence is overwhelming that Herod the Great enlarged the temple mount and built the new temple over the existing one. This evidence is irrefutable. Scripture clearly states that at the dedication of the Temple that Solomon built, in 2 Chronicles 5, that the Ark of the covenant was brought, "out of the City of David to the Temple, "Then Solomon assembled to Jerusalem the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ households of the sons of Israel, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion." If the Ark was brought out of the City of David to the Temple, then the Temple couldn't have been in the City of David.

    • @statutesofthelord
      @statutesofthelord 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HolyLandSite Your "irrefutable" has been refuted. The evidence shows that the Roman barracks were on what is now called the Temple Mount. Where the real temple used to stand has been razed, and it's hill has also been demolished. This is historical fact for those who wish to know history, and who believe Jesus' words.

    • @HolyLandSite
      @HolyLandSite  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@statutesofthelord I'll go with what the Word of God clearly states in the Bible. It says that at the dedication of the Temple that Solomon built, in 2 Chronicles 5, that the Ark of the covenant was brought, "out of the City of David to the Temple, "Then Solomon assembled to Jerusalem the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ households of the sons of Israel, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion." If the Ark was brought out of the City of David to the Temple, then the Temple couldn't have been in the City of David.

    • @statutesofthelord
      @statutesofthelord 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HolyLandSite Psalm 132:13: “For Yahweh hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.”
      2Chronicles 3:1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
      So Zion = Mt. Moriah
      “Nevertheless David took the castle[Heb., fortress] of Zion, which is the city of David. And David dwelt in the castle[Heb., fortress]; therefore they called it the city of David.”
      So we see that Zion = city of David.
      Therefore Zion = city of David = Mt. Moriah
      If the temple was not in the city of David, it was not on Mt. Moriah, and not in Zion, thus making much of the Bible meaningless, as God always identifies his dwelling place as in Zion.
      Blessings as you study to show yourselves approved unto God.

    • @sawry1
      @sawry1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@statutesofthelord The Temple was on the highest point. Mount Moriah became Mount Zion and it is where the dome of the rock is today. God obviously has placed that dome there and the mosque to preserve the area for when the third Temple is built.

      Thank you for your comment. The historical evidence is overwhelming that Herod the Great enlarged the temple mount and built the new temple over the existing one. This evidence is irrefutable. Also, regarding the Temple being in the City of David, Scripture says that at the dedication of the Temple that Solomon built, in 2 Chronicles 5, that the Ark of the covenant was brought, "out of the City of David to the Temple, "Then Solomon assembled to Jerusalem the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ households of the sons of Israel, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion." If the Ark was brought out of the City of David to the Temple, then the Temple couldn't have been in the City of David.

    That site is not the Temple..it is the Antonia Fortress..Josephus describes very clearly the fortress was built on a rock. Sometimes it was called the rock. Survivors of Masada also say that all that remained of Jerusalem was a wall that was left of the Roman fortress.. The Gentiles drove Jews from Jerusalem..the true site was lost to this day...some say it is further south nearer to the recently discovered Davids city. Very hard to prove exact site , but its not the traditional Dome of the Rock

    From the street level to the top is about 60 feet. There is excavations beneath the street level, going down 40 feet. There are megalithic stones at the foundation, with the same bordering around every stone just like at the street level. That makes the wall about 100 feet tall from the foundation (touching the bedrock) to the top of the wall.
    The Jews didn't build these walls.
    The very same type, style, design and size of stones are also found at Baalbek Lebanon, underneath the Roman temple of Jupiter.
    There are stones 70 feet long, weighing 1,000 tons, surrounded by stones with borders, just like the wall around the temple mount in Jerusalem.
    Again, the Jews didn't build these walls. Unless the Jews also built the foundation underneath the temple of Jupiter at Baalbek.

    The Temple Mount is actually Fort Antonia. Built by the Romans.
    It housed 6000 soldiers plus support staff totalling 10,000 people.
    The Temple Mt is way too big to be Solomons temple.
    There is archaeological facts proving this. The location of The temple is 600 feet away from Fort Antonio.
    The temple cannot be rebuilt unless the the Dome of the rock is destroyed and this will never happen without a world war.

      Thanks for your comment. However, Also, here are the facts about the Romans building the Antonia Fortress:
      1. Contrary to what some say, the current Temple Mount existed long before the Romans arrived. The Temple Mount foundation, or platform, was first built by Solomon. Then Hezekiah enlarged it. Later, its foundations were repaired during the time of Zerubbabel when the second temple was built. We see evidence of this in the ancient stones around the Eastern Gate. They date back to the time of Solomon, Hezekiah, and Zerubbabel, and Nehemiah.
      2. Later, in around 141 BC, the Hasmoneans built an extension to the southern end of the Temple Mount. This can be seen in the Eastern Wall where the bend in the wall exists. There is a change from in stone styles from earlier periods to the Hasmoneans.
      3. Then, in around 19 BC, Herod the Great began to enlarge the Temple Mount Platform. He would double the size of what it was during the Hasmonean period. This can be seen in the Eastern Wall as well where there is a seam in the wall. The stone styles change from Hasmonean to Herodian. It can also be seen in the addition as well. Josephus confirms this: “Accordingly, in the fifteenth year of his reign [23-22 BC], Herod rebuilt the temple, and encompassed a piece of land about it with a wall, which land was twice as large as that before enclosed. The expenses he laid out upon it were vastly large also, and the riches about it were unspeakable. Wars of the Jews, Bk 1, Ch. 21, Sect. 401
      4. Therefore, the current Temple Mount existed long before the Romans arrived and was not expanded to be a Roman Fort but for the temple use.
      5. There are no historical records that a Roman Legion was stationed in Jerusalem before 66-67 AD. At this time the Jews had revolted and recaptured Jerusalem from Roman control. The 10th Roman Legon was then moved to Jerusalem to conquer it. This was a fulfillment of Christ’s prophecy. The city was destroyed and conquered in 70 AD.
      6. Facts about the 10th Roman Legion. It was founded in around 41 or 40 BC. It was also called the X Fretensis or Legio X.
      • It was never stationed in Jerusalem until it arrived to overthrow the Jewish rebellion that had taken place wherein the Jews overtook the Roman Soldiers who were in Jerusalem and regained control. It was the 10th Roman Legion, led by Vespasian, that would win the battle to recapture Jerusalem from the Jews in 70 AD.
      • From 67 onward, X Fretensis fought in the war against the Jews. It was commanded by Marcus Ulpius Trajanus, the father of the future emperor. The supreme commander of the Roman forces in Judaea was general Vespasian, who was to become emperor during the civil war that broke out after the suicide of Nero in 68.
      • After the conclusion of the Jewish revolt in around 73 AD, Legio X was garrisoned at Jerusalem. Their main camp was positioned on the Western Hill, located in the southern half of the old city, now leveled of all former buildings. The camp of the Tenth was built using the surviving portions of the walls of Herod the Great's palace, demolished by order of Titus. The camp was at the end of the cardo maximus of Aelia Capitolina.[2] Pace, H. Geva, "The Camp of the Tenth Legion in Jerusalem: An Archaeological Reconsideration", IEJ 34 (1984), pp. 247-249.
      7. Josephus clearly describes and clarifies that the Antonia Fortress was destroyed by the Romans when they conquered and tore down the temple in 70 AD: “Titus now ordered the troops that were with him to raze the foundations of Antonia and to prepare an easy ascent [into the Temple Mount] for the whole army” (Wars Ch. 6, Sect 93). “Meanwhile the rest of the Roman army, having in seven days overthrown the foundations of Antonia, had prepared a broad ascent to the Temple” (Wars Ch. 6, Sect. 149).
      8. If the Antonia was destroyed in seven days, it reveals that it wasn’t that big. Also, it was destroyed so there is no way the current Temple Mount could be the Antonia Fortress. The original Temple Mount walls are still standing today to a certain height, and therefore, could not belong to the Antonia Fortress. It also would have been impossible to destroy the Temple Mount down to its foundations in merely seven days. Therefore, the archaeological evidence is in agreement with the historical description by Josephus regarding the destruction of the Antonia Fortress by the Romans.
      9. We have a quote from Josephus that seems to contradict his other quotes: “And where is now that great city, the metropolis of the Jewish nation, which was fortified by so many walls round about, which had so many fortresses and large towers to defend it, which could hardly contain the instruments prepared for the war, and which had so many ten thousands of men to fight for it? Where is this city that was believed to have God himself inhabiting therein? It is now demolished to the very foundations, and hath nothing left but that monument of it preserved, I mean the camp of those that hath destroyed it” (Wars, Bk. 7, Sect. 375). What does this mean?
      10. From these two words, some claim that the Roman 10th Legion was stationed upon the current Temple Mount. We are not certain what monument means here. To say it was the Temple Mount is pure speculation. The context is talking about the City of Jerusalem, not the Temple Mount. Lastly, the word camp is mentioned, not a Roman Fortress.
      11. It is vital to understand that when Josephus wrote this it was in 70 AD, more than 70 years after Herod enlarged the Temple Mount Platform. Also, the Tenth Roman Legion never was stationed in Jerusalem until after it was conquered in 70 AD. So, the idea that the current Temple Mount Platform was built for the Tenth Roman Legion is completely false.
      12. This quote by Josephus is a major issue for those who believe the current Temple Mount was the Antonia. However, to build a theory on these two words is quite weak.
      13. The current location of the Temple Mount was in existence long before the Roman 10th Legion arrived in 70 AD. And again, the 10th Legion was never stationed in Jerusalem until 70 AD and beyond. So the current Temple Mount was not built by the Romans and it wasn’t built to be a Roman Fort.
      14. The original Temple Mount walls are still standing today to a certain height, and therefore, could not belong to the Antonia Fortress. It also would have been impossible to destroy the Temple Mount down to its foundations in merely seven days. So, archaeology has proven this description of the destruction of the Antonia to be true as after extensive digs and searching, there are no remains that can be identified as belonging to the fortress. Therefore, the archaeological evidence is in agreement with the historical description by Josephus regarding the destruction of the Antonia Fortress by the Romans.

    The temple will soon be rebuilt and supposedly, they have a red heifer that will be used to purify the new temple. When you see preparations for a third temple, know that we are in the last days and the rapture of the church is near. Go to the Temple Institute website and you can see many of the temple items are already ready and waiting to be used in the rebuilt temple, they even have the clothing that the high priest will wear. Very interesting. We know that there must be a third temple because we are told the anti christ will enter a rebuilt temple and declare himself God. This is the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet. Some claim that the temple stood beside the location of the Dome of the Rock, so if this was the case, it could be rebuilt beside the muslim Dome without having to have it removed or destroyed. No need to argue over its location, God knows when and where it will be rebuilt.

    5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

      @@SajjadAli-cb2dm Hello, I don't think that the Quran has anything about Esau. I could be mistaken. But there is a lot of history written about Esau in the Book of Genesis chapter 25 and it continues from there. So, if you do have a way to read it I think you'll enjoy it and be enlightening. I do have a question though, because you seem nice in your comment above and respectable. But please forgive me, have only read a bit of the Quran here and there so I am not that knowledgable about it. I have a few questions though that maybe you can answer for me. This verse I am posting is from the Quran.
      (And mention) when the angels said, ‘O Mary, indeed God gives you the good news of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and in the Hereafter, and of those who are near to God.’ ‘He will speak to the people in the cradle, and in old age, and he will be of the righteous.’ She said, ‘My Lord, how can I have a son when no man has touched me.’ He said, ‘So (it will be,) for God creates what He wants. When He decides something, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is. And He will teach him the Book and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel. And (will make him) a messenger to the Children of Israel (saying), ‘Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord. I make for you out of clay the likeness of a bird, then breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by the permission of God. And I heal the blind and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by the permission of God. And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Surely, there is a sign for you in that, if you are believers. And (I have come) confirming the Torah that was (revealed) before me, and to allow you some of what was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a proof from your Lord, so fear God and obey me. Indeed, God is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is the straight path.” (Quran 3:45-51)
      Question: 1. Since Jesus was born of a virgin, who is his Father? God, Right? In our Bible it says that the Holy Spirit came upon her. So, his father is God. So, what I am trying to say where the christian belief we say he is the Son of God. My question is why don't the muslim belief put emphasis on this virgin birth? In the bible it says and you shall call him Emmanuel which means "God is with us." He is the savior. Jesus is the Messiah!!! And that is who the Jews are waiting for. Thankfully God decided to allow us gentiles hear the Gospel, as your Quran talks about those books are Mathew, Mark, Luke and John which are the books of the Gospel. They are awesome reads if you're able to get a chance to read them as well. Christianity is the only religion that has a Savior. And maybe you will have a question for me too. Have a good evening.
