I’ve heard scanning along rock walls is a good place since people old tend to sit against it and things would fall out of their pockets. Same with the base of trees. That was a fabulous find. I’m jealous.

I built a metal detector out of old television components from all the ones donated and later tossed in the trash when I was twelve. Now in my 50s I now have 2 Whites, 2 Garretts and 2 Minelab besides. I have been out countless times and I have never not found something... Although lately I have been a fair weather detectist, meaning when it is raining. nice dirt you're digging... Nice find. The gold coin is out there too. I find that there always is. Can you imagine this guy trying to explain losing that coin to his wife? I came home drunk one time and hid 2,500 Dollars in the Bible on the top of the TV, the rent was due and I did not find it until 3 months later. I know painfully well what my wife thought!

In the big city, Seattle, I was hunting a curb strip when I got the perfect 13 signal on the Nox. 4" down was an 18K ring with 3 emeralds, 22 diamonds. I immediately went home, too!! That is a beautiful coin and congrats Charlie. That had to be a tragic loss for that family. To put things in perspective, I was reading a post in our local early 1880s newspaper. A guy was wanting to hire a local boy, to go down the well on a rope and retrieve a 25 cent piece

That was an awesome find. This helps me. I’ve been detecting so plantation plots when old houses use to sit. But it’s littered with iron everywhere and also aluminum. It’s very frustrating trying to weed through the junk but this shows patience and perseverance pays off. I know I will not find old coins like that but just sliver or copper makes me happy. I found my first IHP a week ago in a cane field. I was extremely happy. But you never know what you gonna find. That’s what I love about it. Thanks for the vid.
