I’m so glad I clicked on your video. I’m currently paying off my mortgage loan and for the next few years, I’ll be aggressively saving for my retirement. I’m preparing now and I just hope I can hang on for a few more years. 👋🌟. I will not miss the socialization aspect though. By the time I retire I will have been working full time for 37 years. Sigh…. I will not miss it at all.
🎉🎉Happy 1year🎉🎉 I’m not retiring early, but I’ve got 28 actual work days left and I know I will not miss going in and working 8-9 hr days and coming home to o exhausted to do anything resembling fun. I keep saying let someone younger come in and have the stress of state reporting that I am sick of. I’m basically an introvert so not having to deal with admin, other workers, students and parents sounds heavenly. Enjoy Texas! I will be watching.
I work full time but a **perk** of my job is a lot of paid time off - about 9 weeks a year. I like to "practice being retired" and I can see that I won't be wanting for things to do during retirement. I will not miss my job - it is very high stress and mentally exhausting. I hope you enjoy your retirement to the fullest!
I enjoyed your video alot. I'm retired and have struggled with should i work when i see all these help signs. Just our generation i guess. I'm decluttering, spending time with friends and reading but sometimes i still feel like i should be working. You mentioned passing it to the next generation and it helped me realize that i don't have to work. The next generation is picking up the load. Thank you.
@@DebbieKeirstead I understand. I’ve seen those help wanted signs and thought, I could help them. But I’m like no, I’ve done my time and now I’m going to choose the things I want to do.
"Know your numbers." Best advice ever! Glad to hear you're coming back to Texas for the winter. You go a lot further south than where we are, but I really enjoyed watching your videos last year when you were here. Hope this winter season is even better :)
I'm able to retire at full age this coming March. I work at a college, so I'm trying to decide whether to push through the spring semester or be done this December. It's also so emotional bc i love my boss and enjoy the students and coworkers. I change my mind on a daily basis!
We are not retired yet ( we wont be retiring early but not because we cant - financially now we could if we wanted to - but more of a personal choice for things we want to accomplish ) but I enjoy so much your videos on the topic as its coming long soon. Glad its going so well for you!! Your tips and tricks inspire me as we get closer and closer to retirement. Thank you for sharing!!
One of the biggest, piddly adjustments was adjusting to not passing by multiple grocery stores and other shopping opportunities multiple times a week. Stopping by to pick up a single grocery or diy item on the way home became an actual trip out and for us a general hour worth of time. The work path took us past multiple shopping areas or in the proximity of multiple shopping areas so simply shopping, looking, and "researching" was but a little extra time on the way home and also avoided a lot of time in traffic. Long before we put emphasis on stacking stops when ever we went out to save on gas we treated the pantry, meal plans, lists of diy task needs from the hardware store, etc...with more care and purpose.
I appreciate the idea of uncoupled retirement since that's where I find myself today with my husband who is still working. He, too, is entirely on board with my retiring, but retirement really does become a personal decision when the finances aren't at issue. If someone feels the need to work, s/he should. I'm talking to myself here because I don't miss anything about working! I look forward to your sharing your Texas time with us!
Congratulation. We retired at 55, it was the best thing we ever did.
Thank you! I love it!
You have prepared for all of this. You are living the life you planned. 😊❤

I am also 1 year into retirement, I am loving it!!!!! At 66, I don't miss work 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Well, thank you Terry! I try to come up with practical useful ideas that I use, hoping they will help others!

@FrugalHappyVegan Thank you! I’ve never had a job with more than 4 weeks off a year. That’s great!

I can’t wait for you to get to go to Texas! Cobra is going to be 1400 a month for both of us. Planning to work enough to pay for it!
😁😁
What town do you go to in TX? We go to Alamo, near Donna.
Palmview, South of McAllen. I drive by Donna!
@PenniestoDollars I'll be down there mid December, Alamo Palms. Would love to meet up if you're willing. Not sure how to connect?
@Boobotz53 I have an email listed in my description box. I won’t be down there until after the holidays.
