  • Someone stole all my tools from my shed! Now I'm adding more security cameras, motion sensors, and flood lights to make my shed more secure. This sucks, but hopefully my new secure tool shed will keep the thieves away.

Not sure if your small solar lights on the front will work well unless the sun's ray hit the panels on the top of the units. Also, the one on the tree for your neighbor needs the solar panel directed UPWARD so the sun can charge the battery during peak daylight exposure.

Those small solar lights are useless now that I have that big light installed on top. I'm going to move them to the side of the shed. Thanks for the tip on the solar panel direction. There are a lot of branches above it, so I directed it an open spot where the sun hits it for several hours in the evening. It will be interesting to see how it works in the winter.

I had my shed broken into 3 weeks a go and had locks similar to yours thinking the same thing that they won't be able to crop the locks, silly me because instead of cropping the lock they actually cropped the hasp at the front so it all opened up as if there was no lock on it, ive never seen it done that way before so now I've made my own hasps out of think heavy gauge steel and I no they won't be able to cut through that unless there using a grinder which is to loud as we no but like I've always said if they want to get in, they will get in. Hope your new system works but I would beef up that hasp if I was you

Can you email me a picture of your own hasp, I want to beef up mine as well. My email is andy@handyandymedia.com. Thanks for commenting, I don't want this to happen again.

The thieves who robbed you are local neighbors or your neighbor's kids. No doubt about it and they'll be back for the rest of your tools if you let them.

Sorry to hear you got robbed of many of your tools and accessories. It is disgusting that people have to stoop so low to steal innocent people's properties. Evidently someone knew what you had in the shed and probably cased your property before doing the crime.
The thing is with all the security we put on protecting items and properties, if the thieves know that no one is home, they might just continue to break in and steal items even though there is tons of security items triggered on them. More and likely they would be hooded or masked and wearing gloves to not show identities if they are professional type thieves. I know my friend has an alarm system tied back to the police somehow for his house. i know we can go to extremes with protecting our properties.
Looks like you have added some great security devices and lock to hopefully prevent this from happening again. One thing I was wondering to add to your security is be able to add an alarm or a deterrent loud sounds to also frighten them away along with the lights.
Thanks for showing what you used for protection. take care and good luck.

Taking a man's tools that he uses to make a living is about as low as a thief can go.

As a tradesman myself, I'm sorry for your loss of money / possessions, but I highly urge you to make sure your lights are not blinding your neighbors and that cars driving by do not set it off consistently. Yes, the safety of your tools matters, but please don't become a persistent annoyance / distraction to your neighborhood.
